Bc. VIKTOR KAKOS_CV
Born in 1993 in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2010, I moved to Prague, Czech Republic to study on Faculty and Urbanism on CTU Prague. After finishing the bachelor degree in 2014, as a part of master studies on CTU I moved to Singapore for 2 semesters of bilateral program studies on Faculty of Architecture on National University of Singapore. I am highly self-motivated person, interested in searching for deep meaning of architecture and changing role of architects in this time era, realising the weight of my responsibilities as a future architect. Thanks to my year in Asia, I can view these problems from both western and eastern cultural perspective, which allows me to make informed and responsible decisions. Apart from this critical thinking, during my studies on CTU I gained both rich artistic background and technical and craftmen skills. education: 2014/2015 2012-2014 2010 2003-2011

MOTIVATION LETTER My name is Viktor Kákoš, for the last year living in Singapore, previous 3 years living in Prague. In 2009, I did one semester on Brainerd High School in Minessota, U.S.A, where I improved my english language skills. Nowadays I am moving back to Western countries, to apply the mixture of both Western knowledge, gained during my 3 years of studies at CTU Prague, and Eastern knowledge, gained on NUS in Singapore. Apart from artistic and technical skills gained during studies at CTU, I am also highly interested into deep thinking and searching for core meaning in architecture, realising the fact that architecture is not a separated entity, but is connected with economics, politics, philosophy etc. During my studies I have been always searching for global aspects of economic resilience, question of capitalism and social politics or the knowledge of linking architectonic terms with sensations, as well as on local level, looking for answers of looking for local social and physical context or preserving European cultural heritage. My 2-semestral stay in Singapore allowed me not only to see these problems from broad perspective, but also to compare the western and eastern way of thinking about them. Therefore I was able to take the best from both of these views and create an overall image, that allows me to make informed and responsible decisions. During my studies on CTU, apart from this critical thinking I also learned wide range of techical and craftmen skills. Mainly during my graduate thesis, which included complete technical project of a building, including Civil engineering, Technical details, Building managment, Static calculations, Engineering equipment and Fire safety or Interior solution. Apart from these technical skills, I also gained experience with using computer programs, mainly AutoCad, Rhinoceros, Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, as well as Revit Architecture, ArchiCad or Google Sketchup. I consider these programs as a tools of creating a final image or image of process concept, not a part of thinking process. My last professional experience was working in Tan Beng Kiang design studio in Singapore as a part of a team for Design Resilience cometition, creating strategy for Economic, Physical and Social resilience of Xinxing Harbour village in Hainan Island, China, periodically effected by strong Typhoons and floods. Part of this project was also research on the site itself, gathering information and learning about local way of life and problems of the villagers. This experience tought me both how to approach sensitively and responsibly to people cnsidering their real problems, as well as working in a team. Previous professional experience was designing a small office house for a private investor, cooperating with co-worker Filip Galko. This project is now in process of re-fining and financial evaluating, we hope to succesfuly finish it and transform it into reality. Apart from this academic and professional experience I am interested in writing, both connected to architecture and not. For that related with architecture, I am passionate about writing narrative descriptions to projects (both for me and for others), or short stories related to these projects. As an example, in Petr Hajek studio in 4th semester I wrote a book including short story about each project, and this book was a part of the studio exhibition. As for a work motivation, I consider myself a very hardworking and motivated person, with hunger and passion for progress and getting more and more into depth of architectonic questions, with interested in stepping out of my comfort zone. I am aware of the fact that gaining this progress is not only about academic education and Graduate degree, but also professional experience, craftsmenship and teamwork. To quote Cicero: “Life is not only about gaining knowledge, but also about using it” Thank You sincerely for reviewing my application. King regards, Viktor Kákoš.

Recommendation letter
Paris, the 21th September 2015
To whom it may concerns
Viktor Kakos was employed as an Intern at E Combarel D Marrec Architectes from the 1rst of June to the 21rst of July 2015. During his time at ECDM, Viktor was exposed to a diversity of projects varying in concept and scale: - Competition of 263 dwellings “Sogreprom - Paris La Chapelle” - Images for offices “PRD – Puteaux” - Images for offices “Carlyle – Nanterre” - Competition of an university equipment “Marseille URM” - Models, images and documents for dwellings “Icade – Nantes Prairie au Duc” - Images for hotels and offices “Spie Batignolles – Paris Montmartre” Viktor was doing great with the various softwares we used (Adobe Suite, Autocad), and he particularly improved his skills with Revit and the technical architectural approach. At ECDM, Viktor continually worked extremely well within a team as well as independently. He was a dedicated team member, consistently exhibiting a clear understanding of the project and demonstrating good judgment and reliability. His ability to respond and perform both to unexpected challenges under a tremendous pressure has been invaluable.
