Virginia Museum of Natural History
The Virginia Museum of Natural History, the state museum of natural history for Virginia, has strong programs in research, collections, and both "at-the-museum" and outreach education programs. VMNH conducts significant scientific research spanning the current globe and some 500 million years of earth's history, and supports important collections, which number more than 10 million specimens and artifacts. In addition to its important programs in research, collections, and education, the museum also features award-winning permanent and temporary exhibits both at the museum and through remote sites. These exhibits help to translate the museum's scientific research into easily understood language and concepts that supplement and highlight relevant standards of learning.
