FOOD TRUCKS 18 December 12:00pm - 3:00pm

Around the Rigging Food Truck Christmas Party, Pan Pacific Masters Games, Clubhouse Revamp and more… VMR Brisbane would like to welcome our newest members. It’s been a quieter month on the social scene as we ramp up for Santa to arrive. Some of our members from PVOCC participated in the Pan Pacific Masters Games winning Silver and Bronze medals. Revamping of the Clubhouse is continuing with a new awning for the verandah and the front side wall is also nearly complete. We are holding our Christmas Party in conjunction with a Food Truck event on the 18th of December so we hope to see you there. We wish all of our members and families a happy and safe Christmas and New Year. See you back in 2017!

NOVEMBER 2016

President’s Report It's almost Christmas again and I hope everyone gets to have a relaxing and refreshing break. I'd like to welcome our New Members and thank all our Volunteers who have helped out over the last 12 months. Without your efforts your VMR Brisbane would not have achieved what we have. We have more plans for next year and look forward to working with everyone to make them a reality.

The Radio Room has a new roof which has replaced the old Super 66 roof and as part of this project we have also insulated the roof. We have also installed some new LED lighting which really sets off the base at night plus we have reduced our energy costs in the process. “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” – Jacques Yves Cousteau If you are looking for a present for a Boating Friend or Family Member have you considered a Waterside Assist Membership or better yet a Full Membership as a gift? It might just save their life. Let them know and spread the word of how they can keep up to date with your VMR on Facebook.

As part of this thank you we will be having a Christmas function on the 18th of December at the Base in the form of another Food Truck Event between 12:00 and 3:00pm. Please feel free to come earlier and stay longer and enjoy your Base and Facilities. The Hall will be open to members to enjoy some good food, boutique beer and friendships on the new covered deck.

On behalf of Management, I would like to wish all the Volunteers who give of their time freely, our Full and Associate Members, the Members of our Associate Groups and all of our Waterside Assist Members a very Merry, Safe and hopefully Boating filled Christmas and New Years.

For those of you that haven't been to the base for a while the new roof over the front deck on the Hall is now complete and looks fantastic.

THANK YOU TO STEVE AND SUNNY The work to the roadside Clubhouse wall is now nearly finished. We would like to thank Wayne Swan for contributing $20,000 for this project of removing the asbestos and the repainting of this wall.

VMR Brisbane would sincerely like to thank Steve and Sunny who recently hired our venue for a 40th Birthday Party and raised over $600 for us in the process. Instead of accepting gifts, Steve and Sunny asked their guests to donate to VMR Brisbane instead. Steve is seen here accepting a Certificate of Appreciation for their wonderful gesture.

PVOCC WIN SILVER AND BRONZE AT PAN PACIFIC

YACHT GROUNDED AT SANDGATE BEACHFRONT

Well done to our members from the Polynesian Va'a-alo Outrigger Canoe Club Inc who participated in the Pan Pacific Masters Games earlier this month.

Matt Sheumack Photography has photographed an awesome photo of the yacht which was towed by VMR Brisbane from Tangalooma after a severe storm on the 18th of November. VMR Brisbane had been waiting for instructions from the owner as to whether he wanted the vessel towed into Cabbage Tree Creek or Caboolture River. In the meantime, the vessel has unfortunately dragged its anchor whilst waiting for the owner to be available and for a high tide.

Congratulations to the participants of the Mens Final 200m elimination sprint race who won the Silver Medal and the OC2 Race who won bronze!

While it's an awesome photo it is also an unfortunate reminder to all boat owners to check their vessels.
