President’s Report

for our crews to log some night hours for their qualification. All of this and more in just the first month of this new Management Year.

We l c o m e t o a n e w Management year and welcome to David Davis as Senior Vice President and Karl Nast

For those of you who attended the AGM I thank you for your interest and willingness to have your say in person on your Management Team and hope you enjoyed the presentation we prepared to remind everyone what an amazing year VMR Brisbane had. For those who couldn’t make it you can find the presentation here AGM Presentation.

I look forward to keeping the momentum we have created going and would like to hear from you the Members for anything you would like to see us try or be involved with this year. We have had a very busy October and have already had 5 new Active Crew members join us since the AGM!! A very warm VMR Brisbane welcome to all new Members who have joined us. I look forward to meeting you this year and hearing about your experiences with VMR Brisbane and more importantly your ideas for your Association. We attended the Emergency Services Games Expo which was put on as part of the Emergency Service Games held on the Sunshine Coast and also attended the VMR Bribie Emergency Services Expo again at VMR Bribie’s base. Quebec crew did us proud in representing our Squadron for the day along with a few of our new Active Crew members who were lucky enough to be on rotation for that crew day. It was great to see nearly 9000 people attend the Expo and get to talk first hand to the amazing volunteers and Emergency Services Crews. Both of these days gave us the opportunity to connect with other Emergency Services and discuss how we can complement each other’s services to assist our communities. I was very pleased to meet Sally Baisden, Emergency Service Cadet Program Manager and look forward to exploring having Emergency Services Cadets involved with VMR Brisbane. If you would like to assist with this initiative please let me know so I can keep you in the loop on how this is progressing. We were invited to and attended the first Shorncliffe Pier Long Table dinner held by our new local Chamber of Commerce. This involved us sending a vessel to the Pier with some fairy lights to attempt to set a mood for the night. While a few vessels attended the weather was not particularly kind that night but we did conduct some night training as part of this event. These types of opportunities are great at lifting our Community Profile and providing the opportunity
