EDITORIAL This had been a trying year, but by the grace of God we made it. I would like to thank all of our supporters and a heart felt thank you to our readers as well. In the Spotlight, Praise, Pray, and Prayer. This was by far the hardness article for me to write. I did not understand the reasoning behind it at first, but the more I read and steady what was before me, I began to see the connection between the three words. They are truly entwined. In For Your Health Paola Tennon show us the connection between Prayer, Praise, and Healing. In Miracles and Blessing it’s all about pictures, as we all know a picture is worth a thousand words. What will you see in the pictures? In Consider This; Restlessness Put to Rest. In our Gospel Music/Artist section; The 27th Annual Stellar Awards Nominees. We had a great time at this wonderful event.
“Pray without ceasing”. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Check Yourself, is the mandate in Let the Lady Speak, by Rhonda Hurst. Paris Ducker shares with us in Inspirational Words with how delightful it is to praise God. This is our last issue of the year, and as fore mention, we do thank each of you for all of your comments, stories, and support. For without you we could not make the magazine what it is today. From all of us, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and wishing you all a proper New Year in 2012! And as always, Love, Peace, and Increase…

What is Praise? What does it mean to Pray? How effective is your Prayer? The Webster’s collegiate dictionary gives the definition of Praise as to esteem, to glorify, and to worship.

heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”, 2 Chronicles 7:14 “Pray without ceasing”, 1 Thessalonians 5:17. How effective is your Prayer? In Mrs. Caldwell’s book, she tells us that our prayer requires a power source to operate. The power source for our prayer is the Word of God. She goes on the say that “prayer that is loaded with God’s Word is charged with life and power”. When the Word of God is use in your prayers, you can expect positive results. The Word of God is powerful and is able to bring about change to our life circumstances. Prayer is so important in this every changing world. It allows us to express our most intimate emotions to our Heavenly Father. The Lord’s Prayer is one of the most poplar prayers there is. It was given to us as an example of how and what to pray for: “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen”. Matt 6:8-13 Praise, Pray, and Prayer is interred twined, as a uniquely woven blanket. We Praise God for who He is, we Pray to communicate to God with our Prayers. “…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. James 5:16 (b) To God be the Glory!

Miracles & Blessings
In Pictures...
As this year comes to a close what better way to show God’s miracles than through pictures. I love to travel and take pictures of the places that I visit as we all do. In this issue of Miracles & Blessing here are some of my most enjoyable shot, from Cocoa Beach, FL. I do hope that you will see God’s miracles in them as I did. And it is a blessing to be able to enjoy them as well. Words & Photos by Verna V. Nickelberry

improvement in various health conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, stroke, colitis and some types of cancers were linked to groups who participated in religious events/activities and services. These activities seemly serve as a solace and are believed to not only help one with coping, but provides an avenue of comfort during illness. It is important to know that you will always have pros and cons on just about any topic. However, the decision to believe is a personal one. Spirituality through prayer and praise can help you find peace in the mist of your storm. It does not matter if prayer or praise is from you or others (intercessory). What does matters is that they are important components to healing and even dying. To many believers prayer has been known to be powerful enough to alter the effects of disease, provide healing, and improve the quality of life. While it provides hope for some; it also provides comfort and reassurance for those that are terminally ill. The 23 Psalm offers comfort, as well as, blessed reassurance and prepares us to endure what we must. As Christians, we must believe and be willing to turn our life over to the power of a loving God.

It is best to test around the same time each month, and a good time to check is one week after your period because your breasts are less tender at this time. During the breast selfexam, you need to check for unusual lumps, skin changes, and discharge. You should report any changes or irregularities to your healthcare professional immediately.

Words of Inspiration
To Praise You
O God Is My Soul’s Delight!! by Paris Ducker
Psalm 63:3 New International Version (NIV) 3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his Head like a priest, and as a bride adorns Herself with Her jewels. Isaiah 61:9-11 What is more “delightful” than meditating on God and his everlasting mercies? Great are the works of the LORD;
they are pondered by all who delight in them. Psalm 111:13. I find when I start thinking of all the magnificent things He has done, the peace has given me in the midst of every storm, the needs He has met, the comforting words, the
unmerited favor…my Heart, soul and entire being can do
30 | Fall 2011
nothing but “delight” in him. Oh, to become like a child and just giggle within your soul with unabashed adoration, love, and praise to God just for who He is! Consider the wonder of God and all of his mighty works
through the eyes of a child; and the “simple” things that we
take for granted suddenly become larger than life and will take our breath away. God’s free gift of salvation and eternal life is enough to make you praise with all that you have!
When you ponder where God has brought you from, what other choice do you have but to feel “delight” in the fact that He
would choose you, love you, and treats you as his own? The wonder of being able to commune with him anytime, and to
know that He is also “delighted” to hear from you anytime is
reason enough to rejoice. God basks in our praise, our delight
and wonder in him and his might works. Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your Heart. Psalm 37:3-5
Delight can border on “delirium” with no boundaries in our soul when we reflect on the awesomeness of our God! To consider
who God is and the wonder of his majesty…..aaah to give praise with no inhibitions, the bubbling that wells up in my soul!!!
Learn to dance like David, rejoice like Miriam even when life
is not the way we want it to be! Psalm 107:31, 32 Let me praise
You, Lord, for Your great love and for all Your wonderful deeds to me. Let me exalt You publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation.
There will be times when it seems as if you are alone, aban-
doned, unloved, used, depressed and even oppressed. But even in the midst of what seems like darkness, the bible tells us that Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands
are my delight. Psalm 119:142-144. I encourage you to purpose that each day will be filled with praise and delight.
Upon waking every morning and before going to sleep at night, learn to meditate on our God and all that has done; who He is
and you too can’t help but be filled with an overwhelming sense of praise and delight!.
Our Prayer: Father, we will delight in you our God for you are worthy! We praise you, for you our God; you are altogether
lovely; and a joy to our soul! Thank you for loving us as your children, and that you also delight in us as well. Amen
