agpur saw its lowest dip in temperature yet, the cold conspired with event nightmares against event managers and widened the gap between a good night's sleep and the event managers. With gravely open eyes, the over worked organisers tried desperately to start their respective events on the times mentioned in the printed schedule. As the warmth of the rising sun hit the cold grounds of the campus, people dashed between events. Wallstreet and Mo-fun continued to keep the flooding auditorium breathing fast. Technodox, the technical paper presentation event lived up to all its expectations and once again, proved to be the stalwart of AXIS. It received a great amount of outstation response. Despite light graffiti visions which kept everyone up last night, the students were attentively enthusiastic for the aero-modelling and hacking workshops that successfully concluded today. 'Who's the boss?' gave a reason to participants to wake up on time, occupying a major segment of the road opposite to the new improved library. The management event challenged the managerial acumen of the participants . Sudoku and informals were actively participated in, as the former ran out of questions within an hour and the latter had to disappoint a few participants due to lack of time. While the organisers required help finding steady attention at the "help-desks", an extremely busy Utsav found a chair for himself at the SAC help-desk. It was hard to locate him behind the tall stacks of yesterday's newsletter copies . Small and large groups of chattering people creatively discovered places to hangout. People were seen consuming fluorescent refreshments with interestingly varying nomenclature which they found at the experimental cocktail stall. The day wrapped up with the same exuding energy and excitement with which it triggered off.
Cy p her RevENGG and Crypto-Crux, the two big events of Cypher saw an epic end, as the finalists clashed against each other in a fierce Coding battle. The finals happened in the well-equipped labs of the Electronics and CompSci Dept., with close to 20 finalists. The finalists were each given away a few goodies that made their efforts quite fruitful even if it might not have been too sincere on their parts. The Sun Microsystems hero of the college, Arindam Paul, seemed quite happy with himself at the end of the three hour brain exercise.
Technodox With the participation of 28 teams, the event Technodox witnessed a ground success (the acknowledgement being on the fact that the success was a pleasant surprise as compared to the other events). The event saw foreign participation as well. The judges for the first slot Dr. Bhurchandi, HOD, Ramtek Engineering, Dr. P.A. Pokle, HOD, Raisoni Engineering College and Dr. R. Keskar, Assistant Prof., VNIT, Nagpur, served witty questions on the plates of the participating teams. Special recognition went to the second year team of our college, Tanay Baldua and Divya Chopra managed to impress the tough-skinned judges. Owing to the excellent response, the event was divided into 3 slots . But sadly the comfy seats and the air-conditioned seminar hall did manage to make some of the back-benchers snore.
Archi Undeterred by the postponement of 'Produk', the architecture department attempts to identify itself with the institute, but still shrieking, "We are different!" They do not mind promoting their events with the help of Rohan Surve (accidentally engi rightfully archil. The events of the department were innovative and a break away from the complexities of the other events of AXIS . There was Itoons with an extremely hilarious theme, 'bunty, bubli and swine flu', and also an interesting workshop on landscape painting which gave people a chance to wander away into the background if they ever got bored. They also had events involving photography and video shooting which gave boys a pretext to click a few unsuspecting girls. One event was based on an idea copied from news deprived newspapers,' give a caption!' which had a very animated picture of Utsav and his beloved microphone. On the whole, the event was a success, which gave a different dimension to AXIS. light graffiti workshop was looked forward to as it was a special event this AXIS. Hosted by Club Capture, photography club of VNIT, Vysakh was eyed with suspicion with his sanity being questioned. The hosts explained how still images could be made with the help of just a few LED's and a camera with adjustable shutter speed. A clash-of-the-titans ensued as Chinki demanded Abhik turn on the lights because without the blue lights, mo-fun is just no-fun. We could see a frustrated Chinki groping his way around in the dark mofun arena, with Abhik pacifying him by repeatedly referring to the blue lights as diwali lights. The participants were given a chance to experiment and most of VNIT at last got to see what the workshop was all about (if you haven't already seen them on Vyshakh's profile on fb) .
Zeta is back II Axis is almost over and life is getting back to normal in 'WE'NIT . After working really hard for AXIS we let our minds wander about. It was early morning, and we just about to go to bed when we were struck by an interesting idea, the details of which we've mentioned below. So read on ... Okay, now imagine our Chor committee member Boru becoming the Training and Placement (T.P) secretary of 'We'NIT next year. The reasons for this idea entering our fertile imagination areHe virtually owns the company, TopiKaprikorn, and finding a job for his batch mates won't be too hard . HE OWNS A COMPANY!! The jobs that can be offered to people from various departments ... Architecture people get the decoration and housekeeping . They are especially busy on occasions like Diwali and Christmas where they have to do some interior designing, like putting up paper stars, confetti, setting up the pine tree, etc etc. The chemical engineers will be able to show off their vast knowledge of solutions and cleaning agents (OCT) when they have to clean the toilets and scrub the tiles. Civil engineers will be incharge of gardening, given their expertise in soil and hydrology. They also have a penchant for keeping an eye out for slackers since they are skilled in the technique of surveying. Comp sci engineers are recruited as clerks given their ability to always go by the book. A few qualified ones are also selected to give seminars on computer hygiene. The electrical guys can take care of all the CFL's, fans and AC's that call for help. Additional wiring work earns you a bonus (partiality). Lift maintenance duty is given only to the cream . (Job requirement is the thorough and in depth understanding of the science of pushing a button). The electronics people get the fumigation and pest control jobs due to their natural affinity for smoke. They also double up as cheerleaders during the company picnic . Mechanical guys have a lot of potential here. Keeping in mind their knowledge of machines, they are allotted basement parking duties. They literally have to start from the bottom to get to the top. The metallurgists get to show their skills in handling metal as they are given the duties of stapling and washing the cutlery on the canteen. The mining people get to dig deep into the lives of certain stubborn customers as they are the recovery agents for the firm.
