orn in Washington, D.C., Wide Receiver Arrelious Benn has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since 2010 and has lived in the Tampa Bay area for the past three years. Arrelious is 6’2 at 220 pounds and wears jersey #17.

Since the age of 6, playing in the backyard with his siblings, his love for football has always remained consistent. In college, Benn played 3 years for the Illinois Fighting Illini- also as a wide receiver. I got to sit down with Arrelious recently and talked to him about not only Arrelious Benn’s car of choice, The 2012 Maserati his personal life, but also his sense of style and fashion. Quattroporte MC Sports Edition White “My biggest achievement this far in my career is that I was able to go from starting off rocky, to then turn things around and making a big impact. What helps is I stay focused, maintain my workouts, diet and of course-rest my body. “ Even though football players have a strenuous schedule of long workouts and daily games, any “off ” time they have is rare but appreciated. “On my off time, I like to play video or board games, especially Monopoly. I also like to read books on everyday living, “how to” books and books on bettering yourself. If I were not a football player, I would have probably become a teacher for elementary school, maybe even in history. Hanging out with my family is important as well. I have an uncle that lives in Florida, but the rest of my family lives in Washington, D.C, where I stay in the off season.” “My main goal is to take one game at a time. I stay in the moment and approach each game or practice like it was my last. When it comes to my passions or dreams, I am very passionate about uplifting others, especially single mothers. I was raised by a single mother with 5 boys and I want to give back; one day I hope to on launch an organization to do just that.” “My overall style in clothing is not too loud and mostly all black, like Kanye West. I love Balmain Mens Jeans, Christian Louis Vuitton Sneakers, Balancia T Shirts and Givenchy T Shirts.”

The Forbes

FACTOR WRITER VENESSA MARIE BAEZ

The grand opening of Forbes Riley Studios put a phenomenal spin to the meaning of grand opening - complete with everything from a cocktail party to a fashion show as the night showed off the brilliant new facility. The opening of Forbes Riley Studios is a culmination of Forbes’ success as an entrepreneur. She is everything from a celebrated television host, to an actress, to a mother and wife. Her highly selling product, the SpinGym, and being an active spokesperson for a healthy lifestyle earned her a place in the National Fitness Hall of Fame. The creation of Forbes Riley Studios is her fearless new step into the future. The Forbes Riley Studios is a fully functional production studio. Everything from a green screen wall for chromakeying video, to a beautiful makeup room adorned with Forbes’ signature hot pink color, the studio is prepped and ready for any event that comes its way. Delicate time went into completing the venue, with every visual aspect being overlooked by Forbes herself. With the curved white walls and many rooms, the streamlined interior of the studio makes it not only visually appealing, but also an ideal location for future projects that will occur in the establishment. The day’s events began with Forbes’s DreamMaker workshop for women. She put her years of business inspiration and entrepreneur intuition to work for the seminar’s guests. She helped them to realize their own aspirations and dreams and taught them how to put their own savvy to use, no matter what their goal in life. To put it in the words of one guest, the session was “Absolutely incredible.” Not long after the workshop, the party began as other guests arrived. The exclusive cocktail party included hor’s deourves, spirits presented by Dori Bryant, and gourmet chocolates by Viktoria Richards Chocolates. Forbes opened the fashion show with a brief speech, thanking everyone for coming. Featured in the fashion show was Cerulean Blu, a swim and resort-wear boutique located in downtown Saint Petersburg, owned and operated by Desiree Noisette. Three of the store’s collections were shown, including Americana, Boho, and Vibrant, each collection implicative of their names. The featured accessory designer was none other than Accessoreez, by Leslie Belcher. Her extraordinary hand blown borosilicate glass pieces always receive compliments for those wearing them. The fashion show closed with an impromptu performance from Ann P., singing “This is Our Moment”, a song that echoed the emotion felt that night. It was a night of networking and fun for all involved. But, there was one point which resonated with everyone. In the words of Forbes: Dream it, believe it, achieve it.

Chocolates Made ® For You elcome to the new VM, after four years of publishing this fashion forward magazine we’ve decided to get a makeover. VM Magazine, formerly known as Vocess Magazine has been recreated into a more sophisticated publication offering news and coverage on international and local fashion trends, beauty secrets, business, interviews, transportation, traveling, and the best of luxury lifestyle. As publisher of VM Magazine, I am proud to introduce our brand new look beginning with a very classy Fall Fashion Issue, www.MagVM.com.

®

Are you ready for all the fall festivities and events this season? I know I am, fall has always been my favorite time of year from going to the pumpkin patch to raking leaves as a child at my grandparent’s home in New England. Besides all the pumpkin pies and outdoor festivals, my absolute favorite activity is shopping for fall fashions. It’s everyone’s favorite time of year to be stylish. With so many great new trends, I won’t be resisting. Even though I live in Florida now, I am still grateful for the few cold days a year so I can rock my boots and blazers. This year’s newest style, the peplum trend has fallen right into the fall season. A Peplum is a short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, skirt or dress and can be worn so many different ways; peplum shirts can be worn with jeans, leggings or leather and peplum skirts with a tank and blazer or bodysuit. For more information on the latest trends or getting your own personal stylist visit www.vstylist.com.

Wow! Recycling with expression through rubbish and shadows is another form of art for this duo. If you are not interested in art you will be after you witness this duo in action. This form of art would be dramatic yet very unique and would give us a different perspective on the way we view art today. Changing the ways we look art from the time of Michelangelo and Divinchi. What can I say when it comes to Tim Noble, born in Stroud, UK in 1966. His education is: 2009 Doctor of Art, Honorary Degree, Nottingham Trent University, UK 1994 MA (Sculpture), Royal College of Art, London, UK 1989 BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art, Nottingham Polytechnic, UK 1986 Foundation course, Cheltenham Art College, UK Susan Webster, born in Leicester, UK in 1967. Her education is: 2009 Doctor of Art, Honorary Degree, Nottingham Trent University, UK 1989 BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art, Nottingham Polytechnic, UK 1986 Foundation course, Leicester Polytechnic, UK Both have made a big statement with a new form of Art, an artistic duo who has the ability to make anything into art. I have seen many forms of art, but I was astonished to see art made from recycled products and shadows formations made with light. Yes, I said recycling and shadow a new form of expression. I can say it is magnificent the use of recycling in art especially for the well-being of the planet. The artistic duo came on to the seen in the early 2000’s using British rubbish shadows’ and also knowledge that would leave this world in total awe and disbelief. What these artists have created is incredible and breathtaking; telling stories through masterpieces. Two of my many favorite pieces are Sunset over Manhattan in 2003, Wasted Youth in 2000 also displaying artistic abilities from their work on Polymorphous Perverse to Turning the Seventh Corner.

nspired by Florida’s summers, beaches and poolside parties, designer Trineice Cagua has created a stunning swim and beachwear line called JCagua. Their mission is to provide quality and durability with comfort, at an affordable price. Whether it’s coming off the runway to hit the sun rays you can suit up in full, moderate, skimpy bikinis and innovative one pieces all summer long. With the approach of 2013 coming up quickly JCagua will be releasing it very first swimsuit calendar highlighting its sexier swimsuits. The Perfect

Fall Creation

This dress was made by Lina Teixeira from fallen foliage and palm tree bark. She also used leaves from a discarded floral arrangement. All foliage was sewed on to a tube dress which she added green glitter paint to. The waist and chest bark was cinched with a checkered rich brown ribbon. The hairpiece included a tiny nest of branches with a small brown bird perched on the edge of the nest. The Hair was teased and pinned in a loose Mohawk style. The makeup complimented the image of a whimsical tree creature.

Coffee is not typically something you associate with beauty. More commonly known for its health benefits, coffee also has its advantages for your skin and hair. Many

of us have seen the news stories telling us coffee can be great for reducing risk of diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, liver cirrhosis, and Alzheimer’s just to name a few. These rich beans also carry antioxidants that your body can use to help minimize the effects of aging. The caffeine when consumed provides help for those with rosacea and dark puffy eyes, as it constricts blood vessels. Coffee has been found in many anti-cellulite creams and can be wonderful when used as an exfoliate. Want to have sexy and vibrant skin, all while giving cellulite a run for its money? A few items make this totally possible. Start with coffee grounds and olive oil making a paste and then add a little honey. The grounds can then be rubbed all over your body or focus on legs, stomach or other area. When finished, your skin will feel smooth and look vibrant and new because old skin cells come off while exfoliating. Hair should be voluptuous and give off luxurious shine. This can be done at home using coffee. What? You read correctly. After you’ve consumed that delicious cup of brown goodness, take the used coffee grounds and give your hair a wash. After you rinse it all out your hair will be shiny and soft. Maybe looking at that cup of Joe won’t be the same ever again and that’s our intention. Next time brew it for all its worth and squeeze the beauty out if it.

How To Select a

Formal Dress

B

AUTHOR RO MARTINEZ PHOTOGRAPHY ANGELA MANN MAKE UP & HAIR MONIQUE MCLAUGHLIN MODELS PROVIDED BY MODELING AT ANY AGE FASHION PROVIDED BY JESSICA RIOS

y definition formal wear is what is worn to special events such as weddings or black tie affairs, suitable for formal occasions. Today our way of life has become more

casual and very few people can reach into their closets and pull out the perfect black tie ensemble. Our relaxed way of life has lessened the need for formal wear and some may choose to get married barefoot at the beach or go to a formal function in casual clothing. The rest of us still want to dress in formal attire when the occasion calls for it. It is that special occasion such as a wedding, prom, or cruise that requires us to have formal attire. When the time comes to purchase formal wear we are unprepared. Our budget, body type, or event may make us feel restricted. These restrictions make it difficult to enjoy shopping for our special day. I view these so called restrictions as positive because they narrow our choices for us. If there was no budget, you had a perfect body, and great sense of style you may have too many choices.

Regardless of your budget there is a dress for you. From the young teen who will buy their first formal dress with their saved allowance to the bride whose parents will spare no expense to give their daughter the fairy tale wedding she dreams about. The key is to realize what your budget is before you head out to shop so you will not be frustrated. Lowest End - Borrow from a friend or family member Low End - Purchase from a consignment store, thrift shop, or garage sale Middle - Find your garment from the sale rack High End - Have a personal shopper assist you in a upscale boutique Highest End - One of a kind custom made garment A great sense of style does not have to be cost prohibitive and it can be developed. The key is to make something look high end by the way you coordinate and accessorize it. Not knowing what you like isn’t necessarily a lack of personal style. If you are accustomed to living in jeans and a simple t-shirt, that is your personal style. If you have worn a uniform to work for years you may not have ever needed formal wear. Spend time looking at catalogues and window shopping first before you attempt to make a purchase. Not knowing the style, color or price range of your garment is like a kid in a candy store, everything will look good and at the same time you will not be able to make a decision. If you add that you may be in a time crunch the stress level grows. Knowing your body type and what looks best on you will help facilitate your choices. This may be difficult specially if they have gained or lost weight. In my book; Modeling at Any Age, I wrote: “Department stores and specialty shops have sales personnel who can answer any questions about proper fit and will put together a great looking outfit.” The proper guidance given by someone knowledgeable in the industry will make shopping such a pleasure that it may actually be a fun experience. 34 | VM Fall Fashion 2012

Events can simplify your choices by dictating the type of garment needed. For a black tie affair the look is formal and elegant. Black is certainly appropriate but other colors and luxurious fabrics such as silk, silk organza or velvet will fit in as well. The proper garment will make you stand out and be remembered. Men also have a need for formal attire not just for weddings but for business and charity events as well as award ceremonies. This includes everything from the tux, vest, dress shirt, and even shoes and socks. In many cases, a tuxedo rental store is the answer, but for the man who often attends formal events, purchasing his own tux might be more economical. My advice to anyone shopping for that perfect formal garment is to take their time and do not purchase the first thing you see. Try several items on and even go to different stores before you decide. Having a well fitting garment in your favorite color will help you focus on the event rather than an ill fitting garment that is not “you” and one that was not within your budget. Halina Minkowicz-Ilendo & Monika Ilendo, owners of OM Fashions have many years experience fitting their customers and helping them find just the right dress for their events; this is their advice: When helping a customer, we ask them about their budget, event, size, and detail.

Budget

To help someone find their dream dress and make a sale, we must know one of many things, their budget. Weather its one hundred dollars or less or 100 dollars and up, we have a dress for everyone. We want a person to be comfortable with the amount they are spending along with how they look and feel in the garment.

Event

In order for a customer to buy a proper garment for their special day, we must know what event it is. For example, if it was a mother of the bride looking for a dress, we would strongly recommend a long elegant evening dress, no matter the venue. If a young girl is looking for a homecoming dress she will most likely look for a short, evening dress. In our opinion knowing what event the customer is attending is as important as knowing what size they are.

Size

This is most important detail in helping a customer. We have 12 years experience in the business; we know most people’s sizes from the moment they step through our door. Even though our guesses may be correct the size a person buys also depends on the style and gown they have chosen. Most companies cut their sizes smaller. For example a women who is usually or in every day clothes a size 14, might need a size 16 or 18 in evening clothes.

Details

From color to the person themselves, detail means a lot. Every person has a different shape. Some may have to trim the hem or tighten the straps of their dress. When a woman comes in to look for bridesmaid dresses for example, she might have the color(s) picked out already. When a girl comes in for a prom dress, she might not. All of this is something that may seem of little importance but in reality is very important.
