The main change to the committee is that Andrew has stepped down from the Secretary’s position after I believe 4 years and has volunteered to become the assistant editor, in addition he will still be the main point of contact for CH plates, before you ask no there is no new information on the proposed amendments to this system.
President’s Report Michael Cronin, VWCV President Welcome to another edition of the club newsletter. The AGM went off well with all those that nominated for a position on the committee being elected unopposed.
On behalf of the members I would like to thank Andrew for his efforts over the past years and I am glad that he is staying on the Committee. I would also like to welcome Matt Kinsey as the new secretary. The key outcome of the AGM was a vote by the members present to increase membership fees to $55.00 per year and the additional family members fee to $20.00 per year. This may seem like a big increase but bear in mind that fees have not increased for at leased 10 years (that’s as far
back as people can remember) and it currently costs the club more than this per year for each member. Don’t despair however there is some good news, the club will be offering a discount on 3 years membership, so if you are willing to rejoin for three years it will only cost you $150.00. New VWCV membership fees will be effective as of November 1st 2007 and new membership forms with the option for a 3 year membership will be available in the November issue of Wagensville Deluxe. A reminder to all the boy racers out there that the next drag day is on the 13 October, you don’t have to have a speed machine or in fact any speed to have ago, if Kombi Campers can do it then any one can. Its a great fun day so if you didn’t make it last time come along, put some excitement back in your life and come and have a go. Last meeting was nearly one by an old Type Three driven by a first timer.
Don’t forget that October’s general meeting will be held at South Yarra Volkswagen starting earlier at 7pm, see Ad for details. South Yarra Volkswagen are our main sponsor for the DOTVW so come along, give your support and see the new VWs, even take one for a test drive. The DOVW is fast approaching with the final touches being applied by Dean, this is a great day if you like VWs, so come along especially if you haven’t been before. Your car doesn’t have to be a show stopper to enter in the competition and a reminder that those that pre enter get something special, check out the Pre Registration Incentive in this months issue and the club website. The Day of the Volkswagen is also our main fund-raiser for the club so come along for the day and drag along anyone else you may be able to convert to a Volkswagen owner.

Day of the Volkswagen Sunday 25th November 2007, Cranbourne Racecourse
Show and Shine The Day of the Volkswagen – New Judging Arrangements This year, the Day of the Volkswagen judging will be organised by club members John Goodison and Lloyd Davies. It will continue the tradition of a ‘Show and Shine’ event established over many years. New entry forms and judging criteria have been introduced this year, the main features of which are – • Separate judging forms for modified and standard vehicles • A bonus points system for standard vehicles to encourage the preservation and display of standard vehicles • Separate ‘best of show’ trophies for standard and modified vehicles • Relaxation of restrictions on entering modified vehicles in standard categories. (Vehicles which are of a standard appearance but are, for example, lowered with different wheels, engine and interior components, can now enter a standard category if they choose. This will avoid their having to compete against heavily modified big budget vehicles. They may not, however, score bonus points for originality, and as such, presentation and quality of paint, interior, etc will have to be of the highest standard.)
• New forms have been created for modified vehicles with an expansion of judging criteria and categories • Introduction of a judges’ choice award. This may go to a vehicle which does not generate a high score but may be of special interest due to being: An historically significant vehicle A one owner original car well preserved A modified vehicle with an individual concept that is new to the VW scene We are looking forward to the Day of the Volkswagen being a fun day for all and realise that while many great cars will be on display, not everyone can win. John and Lloyd will try to ensure that the judging will be fair for all who enter. Good luck to all!
