Fayetteville Jazz Collective

The Fayetteville Jazz Collective is a traditional 17 piece jazz big-band featuring some of the finest musicians in Northwest Arkansas. The FJC performs an exciting and energetic mix of old standards and new favorites, from the classics of the swing era to the modern age of big-band music.

Formed in the summer of 2009, the FJC quickly became one of Northwest Arkansas’ most popular and unique live music attractions. Through grass-roots promotion and consistently stellar live performances, the band continues to expand it’s fan-base with every gig.

The FJC’s diverse catalog of music includes a wide range of styles spanning the past seven decades; from the enduring

Guest Artist

Genine LaTrice Perez grew up singing in the church choir with her cousins directed by her grandmother and her mother, who played piano. It was not until she was 12 that she started singing solo and eventually found Jazz! With heavy roots in gospel, Genine LaTrice Perez is a self-taught jazz & blues singer with a

Francisco, the Anchorage Museum of Art in Alaska and the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

In addition to his positions as Music Director of SoNA and the Thunder Bay Symphony in Ontario, Canada, Haas is the founder and Artistic Director of Sympho, a trailblazing concert production company that creates powerful and emotional musical experiences, collaborating with leading artists and using unexpected performance methods and unorthodox venues.

Haas is a graduate of Yale University and The Juilliard School. He resides in Germantown, New York, with his wife and three children. Find out more at paulhaas.com.

classics of the Count Basie and Duke Ellington bands, to the boundary-pushing 1960’s work of Gil Evans and Thad Jones, and on to the contemporary styles of Gordon Goodwin and the Clayton-Hamilton band, as well as Latin Jazz material from composers like Tito Puente and Victor Lopez.

While carrying on the tradition of classic big-band excellence, the Fayetteville Jazz Collective is also actively pursuing and promoting new music for the big-band format. Alongside the standard bigband literature, the FJC playlist features new and exciting original music by it’s ‘composer in residence’ Rick Salonen.

Equally at home in front of a captive concert audience or a raucous dance-party crowd, the Fayetteville Jazz Collective carries the spirit of the classic jazz big-band into the modern era.

booming voice. With elegance, fun, and a soulful vibe, Miss Perez will keep you entertained.

In addition to her musical endeavors, she devotes herself altruistically to serving her community as well as the state of Arkansas. She has been listed on the Arkansas Arts Council Artist in Education (AIE) Roster since 2005. Her AIE residency workshop invites students into the world of Jazz through historical accounts using music, creative writing, and dramatizations, while sharing key messages on the importance of good decision-making, dreaming the impossible dream, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
