Northwest Arkansas is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in America – the perfect blend of urban sophistication and small town charm, and of arts and culture and the great outdoors. But don’t just take our word for it. Ask the national and international media who are heaping praise on Northwest Arkansas and the region’s collection of dynamic and culturally diverse cities and attractions on a regular basis. Artsy, historic, and with unparalleled access to Mother Nature, Lonely Planet called a visit to Northwest Arkansas “a wild ride” when the world’s largest travel guide named our region an "Ultimate U.S. Travel Destination" in 2016.

Bentonville’s appeal comes from its ability to retain that humble small-town charm, while being home to the world headquarters of retail giant Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and emerging as a new arts, culinary and cultural haven. The opening of the internationally acclaimed Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in 2011 triggered a cultural metamorphosis in Bentonville. Alice Walton, the daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, founded the museum, which features a collection of American art masterworks spanning 500 years as well as a shimmering architectural wonder that is the museum itself. Since then, the 21c Museum Hotel has opened with luxury accommodations and a contemporary art museum of its own, and the downtown area boasts an ever-growing roster of festivals and family events. Visitors are filling up new restaurants and shops, and

the atmosphere is trendy and colorful. Restaurants like Crystal Bridges' Eleven, suspended over water, and The Hive at 21c, are some of the culinary venues bringing world-class chefs to the city’s downtown and market districts.

Scott Family Amazeum

The Bentonville Film Festival, launched in 2015 by Academy-Award winning actor Geena Davis to champion women and diversity in film, further supports the city’s new urban attitude. In 2015, the Scott Family Amazeum opened as a new children’s learning museum

with 50,000 square feet of hands-on exhibit and tinkering space. Speaking of museums, there is The Walmart Museum, which tells the American success story of Walmart inside the original 5&10 store that Sam Walton opened on the town square in 1950. There’s also the Museum of Native American History with artifacts dating back 14,000 years and one of the most comprehensive artifact collections in the South.

There are many historic buildings and homes in Bentonville, including the 1875 Peel Mansion Museum, beautiful Compton Gardens, and the 1928 Benton County Courthouse, a three-story neoclassical structure on the historic downtown square. Designated a silver-level ride center by the International Mountain Bicycling Association, Bentonville boasts over 80 miles of soft and hard surface

Slaughter Pen Trail

trails. Slaughter Pen Trail, located just two miles from the city center, has some of the finest single track in the region and attracts trail bike enthusiasts from across the country.

BELLA VISTA

A PLACE TO CALL HOME Big things are happening in Bella Vista! The opening of The Back 40 trail system in 2016 has put the city on the map for worldclass mountain biking. The system offers 40 miles of single track meandering through the east side of the city, boasting challenging features and bringing riders back to the roots of mountain biking. But you don’t have to be on a bike to enjoy the trails. Let the rising bluffs, waterfalls, creeks and rock outcroppings surprise you, located only minutes north of bustling Bentonville. The City of Bella Vista incorporated in 2007, after many years as a retirement destination run by the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association. The

Tanyard Falls

demographics have now shifted dramatically, and the city has begun to attract young families and working professionals. Outdoor recreation is king, and the POA operates seven lakes ideal for fishing, swimming, boating, photography, wildlife watching and simply enjoying the great outdoors. The POA’s other amenities feature seven golf courses, swimming pools, lighted tennis courts, playgrounds, parks, pavilions, walking trails, pickle ball courts, an RV park, fitness and recreation centers, and a gun range. Bella Vista links to the northern section of the Razorback Regional Greenway.

Adventures Devil's Den State Park

Exploring the great outdoors in the Northwest Arkansas Ozarks can mean seeing the sun come up over a foggy river as you cast your line for trout, the wind against your face as you zipline through a hardwood forest, or the thrill of speeding across a lake in a bass boat. It can be the exhilaration of a skydive, or hiking and biking challenging trails. It comes in the form of watching eagles soar, paddling through whitewater, or relaxing by a campfire. There are countless ways to renew your spirit and connect with nature.
