VUB LEERSTOELEN
Een leerstoel is een partnerschap tussen de VUB en een privébedrijf, maatschappelijke instantie of particuliere schenker.
Als partner schenkt u een bedrag aan de universiteit waarmee de leerstoelhouder (een professor aan de VUB) onderzoek en/of onderwijs omtrent een maatschappelijk relevant thema gaat inrichten. De resultaten van het onderzoek staan ten dienste van de samenleving .
De VUB telt 24 actieve leerstoelen, waarvan 9 nieuwe opgericht in 2024.

INITIATIEVEN
VUB YAMINA KROSSA FONDS VOOR BORSTKANKERONDERZOEK
Het fonds haalde al meer dan 800.000 euro op voor het kankeronderzoek van prof. dr. ir. Damya Laoui. In 2024 bedankte de VUB haar donateurs met een evenement.
In 2024 blies de VUB nieuw leven in het onderzoek naar het Belgische verzet tijdens WOII. Deze leerstoel zet daarbij citizen science, impactvol maatschappelijk-betrokken onderzoek centraal.
VUB KINDERUNIVERSITEIT
De VUB Kinderuniversiteit richt zich tot leerlingen en leerkrachten uit de derde graad van het Nederlandstalig lager onderwijs in Brussel. Het gaat voornamelijk om Brusselse scholen die veel kansarme leerlingen tellen. De campagne in 2024 gaf het project een financiële duw in de rug.
Huidkanker is de meest voorkomende en snelst stijgende vorm van kanker in ons land. Dankzij fondsenwerving, werkt dr. Jolien Kessels, onder leiding van prof. dr. Bart Neyns aan het UZ Brussel, aan een moleculaire test om het risico op herval en op een succesvolle behandeling in te schatten.

Chairs
VUB CHAIRS
A chair is a partnership between the VUB and a private company, social institution or private donor.
As a partner, you donate an amount to the university with which the chair holder (a professor at VUB) will organize research and/or education on a socially relevant theme. The results of the research are at the service of society.
VUB has 24 active chairs, 9 of which will be newly established in 2024.

VUB YAMINA KROSSA FUND FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH
The fund already raised more than 800,000 euros for Prof. dr. Damya Laoui's cancer research. In 2024, the VUB thanked its donors with an event.
CHAIRS TRACES OF RESISTANCE
In 2024, VUB breathed new life into research on the Belgian resistance during WWII. In doing so, this chair puts citizen science, impactful socially engaged research at the center.
VUB CHILDREN’S UNIVERSITY
The VUB Children's University is aimed at third grade pupils and teachers in Dutch-speaking primary education in Brussels. It mainly concerns Brussels schools with many underprivileged children. The 2024 campaign gave the project a financial boost.
Skin cancer is the most common and fastest rising form of cancer in our country. Thanks to fundraising, dr. Jolien Kessels, under the direction of prof. dr. Bart Neyns at UZ Brussel, is working on a molecular test to estimate the risk of relapse and successful treatment.
