Atthetime,Arthur–whowasusedto teachingstudentshowtodividegardensinto usableoutdoorrooms–washimselfstruggling tofindasolutiontothisgarden,especiallydueto thedifficultpoolshape.Whileinclass,hehad alight-bulbmomentandsuddenlyknewexactly howtodealwiththisspace.Nowinspiredbythe unusualpoolshape,thedesignsprangtomind withtheplantinginfluencedbythegardensat GreatDixterinEastSussexintheUK–thefamily homeoflegendarygardenerand gardeningwriter ChristopherLloyd.

Workingwithanarchitect,Arthurwanted theglassdoorsofthenewpoolhousetoreflect thesurroundinggarden.Creatingasenseof flowfromthehouseintothegardenisachieved bycontinuingthesamedesignschemeused inadjacentrooms.Largewindowsprovidethe perfectopportunityheretoblendtheindoor andoutdoorlivingenvironments.
