Back Out In Bergen

Many Bergenites have stayed secure inside their homes for the past two years, but we’re all safely getting back out again— slowly but surely. If you haven’t been out much, some things have changed: Masks are still seen on many faces; hand sanitizer is offered at mall entrances; outdoor igloos are available at many restaurants. This is the new normal, and we’re adjusting to it. As you make your way back to in-person shopping and dining out, you might find yourself returning to your favorite places. There’s a certain comfort in going back to a familiar routine and turning on autopilot. But sometimes a change can do you good. That’s why BERGEN is proud to present to you the 2022 Guide, a trusty handbook with 20 categories of services and destinations. Your beloved restaurants, salons, etc. are likely in the listings, but you’ll also see that our county has a wealth of other options that can suit your needs. Longtime residents already know this, but our new neighbors are still exploring. Keep this book handy and refer to it whenever you want to know more about our county’s healthcare facilities, music and entertainment venues, coffeehouses, delis and more. Or just flip through the pages for a quick crash course on some Bergen facts—find out which locations made it to Hollywood screens (page 16) or take a look back at some now-shuttered stores and their replacements (page 12). Maybe you’ll see some of them up close and personal when you go out! If you see during your travels throughout the county that one of your favorite shops isn’t listed in this year’s Guide, please tell me about it so we can include it in next year’s edition. I’d love to hear from you!
