Nikita from Chanel College has sacri ced her own time to be mentored by senior badminton umpires to learn how to score games, understand the rules, and to complete score sheets. Nikita has voluntarily umpired in the Hutt Valley inter-college competitions for the past two years. She can umpire up to four singles and two doubles games on each night of competition. Nikita is very committed to ensuring the players are treated fairly and makes sure the players understand the rules of badminton and is con dent in explaining the calls she makes. April from Wairarapa College is one of the promising umpires in Hockey Wairarapa competitions. She has developed into a quality hockey umpire, and regularly o ciates in local intermediate, college and senior women’s division two games at Clareville. April has developed into a good consistent and wellrespected hockey umpire.
Loulou McNelly
HOCKEY
Wairarapa College student Loulou is one of Hockey Wairarapa’s up and coming umpires. She is regularly at Clareville umpiring intermediate, college, and senior men’s and women’s games, and Intercity College competition games, which includes teams from Wairarapa, Manawatu, Horowhenua and Whanganui.
Maralyse Whiteman
NETBALL
Kuranui College student Maralyse umpires games for both the Southern Netball Club in the South Wairarapa Primary competition and Kuranui College in the Netball Wairarapa senior competitions. In 2020 Maralyse was awarded the Kuranui College Patricia Tilson Trophy for contribution to umpiring.
