AutobiografĂa Uno es lo que lee y lo que ve
Autobiografía Es una serie de imágenes capturadas con aparente desenfado en mis espacios domésticos, una suerte de «autorretrato fotográfico» que revela, por un lado, las influencias que otros fotógrafos ejercen sobre mi trabajo -Cartier Bresson, Richard Avedon, Jock Sturges, August Sanders, Catherine Opie, Norbert Ghisoland, entre otros- los artistas que leo y que veo; y, por el otro, da cuenta de mi espacio vital, ese en el que me muevo a diario, cuando hago una siesta, cuando tomo una ducha, cuando abro la nevera, leo el periódico o me preparo un café; detalles sencillos y sin aspavientos, una rutina que la fotografía vuelve extraordinaria. Autobiografía es, también, como en otras de mis series, un guiño a la historia del arte, concretamente a la historia de la fotografía. El título surge como un tributo a la serie homónima de Sol LeWitt quien, en un intento por definirse a sí mismo, capturó a manera de catálogo, ordenando y clasificando, los objetos y detalles domésticos que lo rodeaban en su casa y estudio del centro de Nueva York. En mi caso, se trata de un meta lenguaje en el que tomo la estrategia de Sol LeWitt para homenajearlo, al tiempo que hago referencia a otros artistas, a un medio y, evidentemente, a un intento de autodefinición. Los libros funcionan como espejos, posiblemente porque soy lo que veo. WI.
Autobiography A series of images captured with apparent ease on my domestic place, a sort of “photo self-portrait” which reveals, on one hand, the influences that other photographers have on my work - Richard Avedón, Cartier Bresson, August Sanders, Jock Sturges, Catherine Opie, Cecil Beaton, Among others - the artists I read and see; and, on the other hand, aware about my vital place, where I move daily, when I take a nap, when I take a shower, when I open the fridge, read the newspaper or make myself a cup of coffee; simple details without fuss, a routine that the pictures become extraordinary. Autobiography is also, like in others of my series, a gesture to the art history, specifically the history of photography. The title appears as a tribute to the Sol LeWitt homonymous series, who in an attempt to define himself, captured in a catalog’s way, ordering and classifying, objects and domestic details that surrounded him in his house and studio in downtown New York. In my case, it is a meta language in which I take Sol LeWitt’s strategy to honor him while I refer to other artists, to a media and, evidently, to an attempt to self-definition. Books serve as mirrors, possibly because I am what I see. WI.

Walterio Iraheta He studied Graphic Arts at the Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado of El Salvador , at the Chicago Cultural Center , USA and the School of Visual Arts La Esmeralda , Mexico . He got the first place in the Biennial of Art Paiz of El Salvador 2007 an Honorable Mention in the contemporary art of Palma de Mallorca , Spain 2004 and first prize at the Biennale of Contemporary Art 1998 Central American , etc. . He participated in the Biennale de Valencia São Paulo 2008 , in the Tenth Havana Biennial 2009 , the first Pontevedra Biennale in 2010 and the 54th Venice Biennale 2011 . At this moment he has more than 35 solo shows and more than 100 group exhibitions. Currently he is very interested in issues related to human movement , the phenomenon of migration and hybrid cultures , is interested in the values and traditions mixed between people of different regions. Lives and works in San Ignacio , Chalatenango , El Salvador .
