Form How to start to design a project? This may be a though question to answer. One way of starting a spacial design is to obtain inspiration from the daily live. Hece, the beiginning of this project starts at a Tango performance.

Through Maxwell and Photoshp effect, this solid is no longer a liveless object. It is placed in a old factory to show the contrast between the new and the old , smoothness and roughness, moreover, light and shadow. It does not solely exist in the space but blend into the surrondings by reflecting light.

Week Two Model
Week One
Physical model is required in this week to examin the form in the real world. Through printing, cutting and assembling, one can understand better how surfaces work among themsleves in three dimensions.

Photography
The final model is hung by two wires. The reason behind is that by doing so, the volume or space below the object can be sensed. Also, by putting in human figures, this physical model starts to give more architectural spacial experience and atmosphere tha it originally does.

By communicationg with my classmates about my form, they all agree with the fact that my form somehow resembles to ballet shoes. I personally found this resemblance interesting because we started this study journey by observing another dance art Tango. At the same time, a painting from Degas came into my mind. He was used to paint young female ballet dancers. One can sense vitality and brightness from his colourful drawings. The ablilty of bring joyfulnees to audience is the exactly the quality I am looking forward to see in my architetcural school design.
Program From week four onwards, we are introduced to a site near North Terrace. We are asked to design a new architectural school for ourselves on top of severl buildings' roof. the piority of this shcool is how each functions work well together and how people move form one place to the othe. Last but not the least, how people view in and view out the building is also crucial.

The north and south views for the site are much less restricted compared to the east and west view. Hence, the oject with void space emphersing the the north and south virews is selected.

Based on the street view along North terrace, it may be more suitable to have a horizontal building than a vertical tower.
This form with void space is selected to be the starting point of the design of the architectural school.
Some programmes like student area, staff office, lecture theatre and circulation are considered.
