For e w or d Welcome to a new edition of the Rome Education Guide, a comprehensive rundown of international schools and universities in the city. Choosing a school for their child is one of the most important decisions parents will ever have to make, and we hope this guide paints a clear picture of what is on offer. The format of this guide enables each school to introduce itself briefly before laying out details such as staff, fees, discounts and language support. In the process of gathering information, it was impossible not to be struck by the range of schools available, from their settings and sizes to the choice of curricula. Parents are of course also looking for an ideal social setting for their child, and schools help promote this through a raft of extra-curricular activities. A flick through this guide reveals opportunities for sport, music, dance and photography, as well as political debate, to name but a few. The boom in schools described in our previous guide has been consolidated, with the majority of the 22 featured maintaining or increasing the number of pupils. In addition to foreign parents, many Italians continue to choose an international school for their child. Reasons include parents wanting their child to learn a foreign language as early as possible, given its ever-growing importance in the modern age. Furthermore, increasing numbers of Italians now attend foreign universities, especially in the European Union, making an earlier schooling in English, French or Spanish an advantage. In addition to the schools, we also include a reference guide to Rome’s international universities, for those looking to further their education within the city. We thank all those who have helped us put the guide together, and trust it reflects the healthy choice awaiting both parents and students. Paul Anthem
