Abena Pa ent Perspec ve Abena UK Ltd appreciates feedback from end-users and healthcare professionals alike. Below is a true account of a cancer pa ent currently using some our skincare range. “I was diagnosed with mul ple myeloma in 2008. Myeloma is a cancer that a acks the bone marrow; it is not curable but can be treated for a number of years. I had a tumour growing on my spine, T12 to be exact. The myeloma was detected in my shoulders, ribs and pelvis. I had six courses of radiotherapy and then started on a course of CDT (Cyclohexamine, Dexamethasone and Thalidomide). I responded well to this course of treatment and was offered autologous stem cell replacement therapy. I was in remission for 20 months a er the stem cell replacement. I was given another drug called Velcade but I didn’t respond favourably to this. I developed problems with my kidneys, and underwent dialysis through a tunnel line. The tunnel line is s ll working well a er 2 years of dialysis, and I receive blood transfusions every week through the line. A er Velcade I was treated with Revlamid. This seemed to work excep onally well ini ally, but a recent fall which resulted in a break in the humerous in my le arm revealed myeloma in the bone. Whilst I was taking Revlamid, I no ced my skin becoming very thin and rather papery and I also

started to shed small pieces of skin rather like dandruff. I started to use Abena Intensive Care Cream. I found that this treated my skin very well, not only is it easy to apply but is quickly absorbed and leaves a grease-free surface. I applied the cream to shins, calves, thighs and arms; within a short period of using the cream I no ced a great reduc on in dead skin cells a er only 2 weeks. I have had radiotherapy on my upper arm, and the hospital advised me to use an -allergenic and unperfumed shower products. I am using Abena In mate Care Wash which leaves my skin so and comfortable with no irrita on. This is applied using an Abena Molton Wash Glove. As the glove is disposable and only used once this also minimises the risk of infec on which is important as my immune system is compromised. The glove is very gentle near to new skin and holds a good supply of soap, 2-3 squirts from the dispenser is more than enough for a good shower. I would not hesitate to recommend these products to anyone who has sensi ve skin as these products have certainly helped to improve my quality of life.” Nigel Holmes Aged 65
