he finale night at Shivaji College on Wednesday had in store a rude shock for us, with our photographer getting manhandled, and misbehaviour from s tudents of the host college. And, this isn’t the only such incident —D elhi University festivals in the city are turning out to be more mayhem and madness than fun and frolic. Much of the

problem lies in having top celebrities as guests. Whether it’s British-Indian rapper Hard Kaur at Kamala Nehru College, p layback singer Arijit Singh at Miranda House or Punjabi vocalist Sharry Mann at Shivaji College, there seems to be little respite from indiscipline and rowdiness at these performances. Climbing walls, breaking barricades, baton charges and scuffles are usual at these star nights. Colleges and cops are busy passing the buck. “The festival went on p erfectly before

the star night, but outsiders gate-crashed the event later due to police inefficiency,” said cultural president and third-year student at Shivaji, Manoj Nandal, after apologisies from the authorities. Meanwhile, a Delhi Police official told us, “The college faculty doesn’t discuss the security plan with us. They feel it’s not required, but what they don’t understand is that we are the ones who have to handle the crowd in the end.” Co-organiser of the recent fest at Hindu College, Jhashank Gupta adds, “You will always get a few r owdies

and because of these few, the reputation of the whole event is tarnished.” “Celebs are keen to come because of the immense footfall. But the possibility of stampede, molestations and colossal crowd gives us nightmares,” says Kritee Sharma, a student of Shri Ram College of Commerce, even as FarhanVidya’s visit to the college on Wednesday went smoothly as an exception. Stars, on their part, are still up for the mob. “Actors enjoy coming to DU as it’s a major youth destination,” says film publicist Prabhat Choudhary.

ans of Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan, who won HT City’s Stars in the City contest, got a chance to meet the two versatile actors at the HT City office on Wednesday evening. And even as Farhan, Vidya, and Saket — the director of their upcoming film, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, and producer Ekta Kapoor were over an hour behind schedule, that didn’t dampen the spirit of their fans who were waiting for them with questions, gifts and requests. And as Farhan sang his way into his fans’

asked how it is to be married. But that question about the baby, more than boring me, scares me because I am just not prepared for a baby right now.” And is Farhan giving her any parenting tips? “I am not her parent,” said the 40-yearold, sending the audience into splits while adding, “Unsolicited advice is the worst thing in the world. Never give it!”

PRIYANKACHOPRABUYS APINKLUXURYBIKE

After splurging on a luxury car recently, actor Priyanka Chopra has now got herself a grand pink motorbike. The 31-year-od star tweeted a picture of her latest ride, s aying, “For all those asking ... Here’s a sneak peek ...To commemorate valentines! Pink for chick power! Why should boys have all the fun! (sic).” HTC

Bigger the name, bigger the fracas A ctors Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor with director Ali Abbas Zafar visited Kirori Mal College on Feb 10 to promote their upcoming film. The estimated crowd had 12,000 students, causing much chaos. n When director Imtiaz Ali and actor Alia Bhatt (right) visited Miranda House to promote their film Highway, some students broke windows to get a good view. nM ohit Chauhan’s concert (left) at Hindu College last week saw many gatecrashers, leading to all roads to the college being blocked by the authorities.

kshay Marwah, cousin of Bollywood actors Sonam Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, is gearing up to venture into film production soon. This 28-year-old, who is the creative head of NCR-based Marwah Studios, says it’s only natural for him to do so. “The Marwah Studios have been associated with films like Aisha, Rang De Basanti and Dev D, and also produced many short films. Since we have access to some of the best talent in the industry and we have strong infrastructure, we are planning to start producing or co-producing films which are shot in and around Delhi,” says Akshay, son of Sandeep Marwah who established the Marwah Studios about 23 years ago.

become a hotspot for film shoots now. “Delhi offers fresh locations and lovely weather, while Marwah Studios offers strong

omic group All India Bakch*ds (AIB) have become a rage, following their popular videos. The group, which has churned out funnies on Yashraj films, Arvind Kejriwal et al, hasn’t faced negative remarks from anyone. One of the members and co- founder, Gursimran Khamba, explains, “We don’t attack people and we don’t make personal jokes. YRF Studios told us they loved our videos. It shows their sense of

humour.” Khamba says that Bollywood has been supportive of them. “They’ve been really good. We’ve had Anurag Kashyap do a podcast with us. Kalki Koechlin called us within 10 minutes of us sending her a script, saying she was in! Actors Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak told us that they, too, love our work,” he says, as AIB is set to tickle your funny bone on March 2 in the Capital as a part of the spoof show, Royal Turds.
