ou aren’t the only one addicted to crushing candies and scoring goals on your smartphone — the big Bollywood guys are just as game-struck. When actor Alia Bhatt and director Imtiaz Ali visited the HT City office recently, Imtiaz said Alia’s stuck on Candy Crush Saga these days. The boys, too, can’t do without their clicks. As actor Ranveer Singh openly challenges anyone to beat him at a virtual FIFA game, we think actor Shah Rukh Khan may be a good contender given his fondness for it. based on Batman, had invited veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan for a game of football to his place. “Sir, take out time... let’s do a little FIFA ... I am also tired of being beaten at all games by kids since last few days (sic),” he had tweeted. And, guess who taught Sr Bachchan the tricks? His bachcha, Abhishek. “Spent last night teaching @SrBachchan how to play FIFA14 on the PS. Must say, the Bachchan duo are not bad!” he had said a few months ago. Self-confessed electronic game freak Ranbir Kapoor, too, loves e-football and Candy Crush Saga. Khiladi Akshay Kumar, who digs Gear of Wars and marshal arts-based e lectronic games, is not far behind either. His gaming partner — his 11-year-son, Aarav.

oo many Bollywood divas can be seen strutting the same outfits these days, thanks to designers doling out their dresses to celebs in huge numbers for promotion. “Some designers, especially the budding ones, gift their pieces to celebs as part of a promotional strategy. Also, if an actor comes to promote a designer’s fashion show, the designer thanks the celeb by gifting an outfit from

the collection,” says designer Ridhi Mapxencar. This trend has become a common p henomenon in Bollywood. From Pankaj and Nidhi’s printed sheath dress, Ridhi and Sidhi’s powershoulder jacket to Nikhil Thampi’s backless gown and Masaba Gupta’s print ensembles, the examples are plenty. “If I share a personal rapport with a celeb, I’d gift them my pieces. But I will never do it for popularity,” says designer Masaba, whose fan print designs are owned by Shilpa Shetty, Huma Qureshi, Sonakshi Sinha and Kajol. Stylist Alia, who has worked with actors Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone, says, “If a design is in vogue, everyone wants a piece of it. Yes, designers lend their garments to actors for public appearances for which they get credit in return.” Designer Anand Kabra says that the onus is on the stylists. “It’s not convenient for us to keep a track of who has worn what. It’s the stylist’s job to decide how unique he wants his client to look. It’s a win-win for designers and stars, but not so much for the stylists,” he says.

DEJA VU While Jaqueline Fernandez (above) and Vaani Kapoor (top) were both spotted in Nikhil Thampi’s gown, Pankaj and Nidhi’s printed sheath dress was worn by Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Anushka Sharma and Kajal Aggarwal.

lyricists like Javed (Akhtar) sahab, Gulzar sahab, Majnu Sultanpuri, and when I came across Sibal sahab’s lyrics I thought they were simple yet appealing. They had something to say about life,” says Rahman. In fact, the 48-yearold composer is very excited about another thing too. “Lataji (Mangeshkar) is singing for this album. There is a song about the girl in

your house, Laadli. So, I wanted her voice to bless that song,” he says. The album was released in Mumbai on Thursday by actor Salman Khan, and had both Rahman and Sibal in attendance. There was a moment of jest at the event when Salman referred to Rahman as an “average” artist, only quickly ask him to work with him. Rahman

later joked, “He (Salman) will have to do the kind of films I like, only then I’ll work with him.” Ask Sibal how the collaboration with Rahman came about, and he says, “When I met Rahman sahab, I told him that I write poems and he asked me for few of my poems, which he liked. He then suggested we should do something and that’s how it all started.”

ilmmaker Imtiaz Ali roamed the city’s streets on Thursday to take in some Dilli air and gauge the audience’s reaction to his Alia Bhatt-starrer, Highway. The first stop for the 42-year-old filmmaker was the famous paranthewala under the Moolchand Metro station, followed by a surprise visit to a multiplex in Saket. After his fill of garma-garam mixed-veg paranthas, Ali mingled with young audience at the theatre. “They take out time and spend their money to watch your film in a theatre. And they don’t even know you personally! So that’s where I feel you get the best reaction from — because it is downright honest,” he explained. SAMARTH GOYAL
