AIFW SPRING/SUMMER 17, DAY 3

With styles in full bloom, fashion week saw lots of inspo for the next season

E

mbroidered tales of print and calm pairings of ivories and creams underlined the third day of Amazon India Fashion Week, making it clear that spring does not have to always spell colours that pop. The minimal palette, which was consistent almost throughout the day, was topped with a generous dose of shimmer and shine. The metallic touch was apparent in collections of designers like Siddartha Tytler and label Rabani & Rakha, while Rohit GandhiRahul Khanna also showed their metallic meets future-fashion prowess. And, one advantage of a fashion week at NSIC Grounds? Has to be open-air shows that take experience of indulging in fashion to the next level. Here are some of our favourite looks from Friday and trend takeaways to get you set for the summer.

The show started with fresh-off-the-garden floral prints even for men, what stood out for us were the all-gold separates and dresses. TREND TAKEAWAY: Metallic mania is here, officially. So, get on the bandwagon and pack on the shine.

Bold florals headlined the collection that saw a melange of summery-hues with just a hint of beachperfect neons. TREND TAKEAWAY: Summer is all about heading for a vacay, so pick a kaften-fit over-all with oversized flora.

In a first, Ramani showed menswear featuring printed shirts and embossed pants. The womenswear line had signature boho influences TREND TAKEAWAY: Guys, get on with the experimentation. Even your monochromes can have a hint of sheen.

ANUPAMA DAYAL The designer moved away from her love for a fullspring palette and went for a touch of blue with fun playsuits and kaftans. TREND TAKEAWAY: Show off the shoulders this summer. From coldshouldered dresses to Bardots, it’s time to experiment.

IKAI BY RAGINI AHUJA Easywear dresses in hues of deep scarlets, chocolate browns and deep denim blues made up the collection. TREND TAKEAWAY: Summer style is big on linen, floor-length jackets.

ILK

Known for bending the rules when it comes to fashion, the label sent out a clear message with their talking pullovers and anti-fits. TREND TAKEAWAY: Shape is an ever-shifting thing, even for the summer. So, break the mould and opt for everything oversized.

The collection was a mix of separates encrusted with summer florals in pastel hues along with fun, layered dressy picks. TREND TAKEAWAY: Have fun with hemlines next season. We especially love those that fall in layers.
