Fashion went fun and festive as the five-day runway fiesta came to a close on Sunday

ll of us owe our present, and our future, to our mentors. Taking this thought forward, the Fashion Design Council of India rolled out a gold-laced carpet (keeping the festive mood in mind) for the Grand Finale of Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2017. JJ Valaya’s collection, Ranas of Kachchh, came together with designer duo Alpana-Neeraj’s signature design aesthetics to create designs that were a curious mix of opposites. Alpana, who

has been Valaya’s student for over five years, said that while creating the varied looks was definitely a challenge, the over-all experience, was unmatched. Before the finale took over, the fashion week also saw a focus on two oft neglected fashion realms: accessories, and, menswear, giving the audience a lot of inspiration to take home. Check out some of the looks we loved, as the fashion week came to a close.

hankar, 25, has been ironing clothes at the fashion week for the last 5 years. But, surprisingly, he has not attended a single fashion show. The DU graduate inheriting his professional expertise from his father, Murgeshan, who has been ironing clothes for the last 27 years. “I was in college when I started helping my dad. Do you iron clothes for a lot of designers? Who all? I have ironed clothes for all the big designers like Rohit Bal, Anju Modi, Malini Ramani, Rina Dhaka.

What’s the most challenging part of your job? When we are ironing for big designers like Rohit Bal, it makes me nervous. Though, they our considerate, they want perfection when it comes to their garments. So we have to do it again and again to get it right.

How many garments do you iron in a day during fashion week? From 50 to even 100! There is no count.
