It is important to see fashion as a serious business. We are still recognised as a fraternity, and not an industry. We have very few places in the country that can be seen as organised fashion streets. We are in dire need of them.

e is the man who keeps the fashion industry on its toes. Full of energy at any given time, Sunil Sethi, president, Fashion Design Council of India, never gets tired of answering any questions. And, when we asked him about the state of fashion, he has one major complain. “It’s high time that fashion is taken seriously. We have to be seen as an industry, and not only as a fraternity. The government needs to recognise our efforts, and even the audiences and consumers of fashion have to see beyond the outward glamour. Getting a degree in fashion is as hard as majoring engineering, then why this
perception?” he says. “Designer studios have to be officially recognised. Just like the services of a doctor, lawyer are given attention, fashion deserves the same,” he says. But, is it because fashion is known for its ‘high-

For a curvy wing, use a spoon. After drawing a line over your lid, place an inverted spoon at the outer corner and get the perfect cat-eye wing. For a wing on your upper and lower lid, place a toothpick at the corner and stencil out a liner above and under the toothpick.

Stick a scotch tape at 40 degree angle near your outer corners. Now draw a line across the tape. Once the liner dries, remove the tape carefully. Apply eye primer as the base, then using an eyeliner, draw a line over your eyelid. Place a debit card at the outer corner of your eye to get a sharp straight wing.
Master the nomad inspired look

Prime your eyelids and then apply black eyeshadow to get strong smokey eyes. Move to your waterline and apply a dash of kajal. Using a plucker, place faux eye lashes to elevate the look. After you are done with your eyes, apply foundation and nude lip colour.
lThis one is inspired by the ravishing Bengali bride. Using white kumkum, draw zig-zag or curvy patterns on your forehead. Brighten up the design with red liquid kumkum – draw red polka dots in between the pattern.
THE GLOBAL BANJARA
Get the crimped, messy hair look easily at home. Braid your hair when they are damp. After an hour, once the hair dries up, open all the braids. Back comb your hair from the crown area and you are good to go. For the smudged kohl look, apply eyeshadow on your lower lid and smear it using a smudge brush. .
