Beauty ideas to make your bridal look stand out

J

ewels have the sparkle of heritage inherent in their make. While for some, jewellery connotes old-age traditions, for others, it defines an auspicious occasion. With the wedding season here, gemstones take on an even bigger role. RK Jewellers, South Extension aim to celebrate the preciousness of jewels, along with celebrating the person wearing them. Their collections are for the woman of today, with contemporary tastes and global aesthetics. Their team of artists have researched and travelled to create unique pieces, using rare gemstones, coloured and colourless diamonds, pearls and traditional polki set in gold. Tiaras, armlets, maathha pattis also add to the collection, apart from their signature pieces. Visit: RK Jewellers, E-5, South Extension-2, New Delhi-110049 Tel: 91 11 26252416

f you are planning to hire a makeup artist for your big day, make sure you know exactly what you want from her. A heavy-set bun? Ornament-infused hair? Well, we suggest you ditch the same ol’ styles and get experimental for your big day. Pick your style — from gelled back slick to the brown soft smokey eye and nude lips.

GELLED-BACK FOR THE COCKTAIL Try the just-out-of-the-pool look for your cocktail function, to go with that sexy gown. Dip your fingers in a pot of pomade or your everyday hair gel and run it through the mane. Use a comb to now push the hair on the crown back. Alternatively, you can coat the comb teeth with the gel too.

BERRY LIP FOR THE WEDDING

Rohan Sharma

For a winter wedding, the berry lip is a hit. Especially, if you are going for shades of gold and metallics. Use a lip pencil to highlight the cupid’s bow and use a brush to now fill in the lip with a deep burgundy hue. Top with a sheer gloss to add some sheen to your big day.

Defining pure grandeur, these jewels stand out

CONCEPT & STYLING:

Start with applying primer on your face. Apply foundation and blend in well. Now take a contouring stick 2 shades darker than your skin tone. Suck in your cheeks, and apply the ontouring pigment on the hollow parts and underneath the face jaw bones.

If your forehead is broad, you can minimise it by maping the temple. Place the contouring pigment on the bridge of your nose and under your lower lip as well. Use a beauty blender or angluar face brush to blend the contour lines into your skin.

SMOKEY BROWN AT THE RECEPTION Make an impact with a cocoa shade on the eyelids. Use a brown eyepencil on the lash line. Now, apply a matte brown shadow and use your fingertips to blend the two. Finish with a different shade of brown on the waterline and pale peach on the lips.

After you have blended the contour well, use compact powder or loose powder to let the foundation and contour settle on your face. Finish off your makeup by spraying a makeup settling spray.

A fun, funky makeover to saris

PHOTOS: YOGEN SHAH

This is exactly how you should drape your sari if it has a broad border. The model here looks graceful in this Gaurang Shah sari accessorised with a yellow bindi.

Moisturise your lips well with a lip balm. Apply a little foundation and then outline them by using a nude lip pencil. Now using your favourite red colour, paint your lips well. Go for a matt lipstick as it will stay longer. Dab it with a tissue once you are done. Now dip the stick of your favourite gloss (nude or translucent) into glitter and apply it over your lips. Repeat till you get the perfect look.

You can be the sassy village belle in this Maharastrian style draped sari. Wear it with heels for that extra oomph.

You can never go wrong with the half sari style. Sari teamed with pants gives a voguish touch. This Anamika Khanna sari worn by Katrina Kaif is a fine example of half sari styled the right way.

The dhoti-sari look rocked by Sonam Kapoor is impressive and should be a must-try drape. It’s simplicity speaks for itself and stands out in the crowd.

Sari can be a part of your casual wear. Take inspo from Kalki Koechlin who wore her sari with a sweater. She kept her pallu loose for a laidback yet style savvy look.
