Welcome to WashU! As we transition beyond the COVID-19 crisis, the health and safety of our students, our team and the award winning dining experience remain a top priority. Even during this difficult time, we believe our Five Tenets of Dining remain a foundation to offer strength in uncharted territory: • • • • •
Freedom to Practice/Develop/Explore Dining as Community-Building Access to Quality Food Availability at a Reasonable Cost Responsive Engagement
As a commitment to our students we have designed our menus with a strong emphasis on authenticity, variety and a focus on cultural awareness and flavors. We've restructured dining service options across campus, added mobile ordering and adjusted seating arrangements to allow for safe connecting with the WashU community. When it comes to taste and experience our chefs continue to work diligently creating recipes and menus that enhance a safe environment while delivering exceptional quality and access at a reasonable price.
"Washington University Dining Services is known for exceptional service and great tasting food. We will continue to build on that reputation in our offerings for Fall 2021. This has always been and will always be our commitment to you, and your family." We will continue to follow COVID-19 regulations and guidance as we structure our dining operations with the health and safety of our customers and associates in mind. Your dining satisfaction will always be a key measure of our success. We appreciate your cooperation, your patience and your understanding during this time, as we continue to meet your dining needs, stay true to our commitments for our students’ academic success and offer the best dining experience. On behalf of the entire Wash U family thank you for choosing WU Dining, Greg Minner Executive Director of Dining & Business Operations

Plan Descriptions Platinum Plan | Our best value, this plan is designed with a typical student in mind. The platinum plan is created to allow you to purchase most of your meals on campus as well as any snacks, coffees, sushi, boba teas and items from our on-campus convenience stores. Students who purchase a platinum plan will receive a complimentary coffee club card for each semester. Gold Plan | Slightly larger than the Silver Plan, this plan typically provides 12-14 meals per week on campus for the average student. Silver Plan | The Silver Plan is the minimum requirement for first year students and typically provides 10-12 meals per week for the average student. Depending on your lifestyle and eating habits this may be enough although many students look for more points to purchase snacks and other items in-between meals. Bronze Plan | This plan is designed for the student who is occasionally off campus, involved in university related activities such as internships or research projects. (Not available to first year students.) Apartment Plan | This plan is designed for the student living in campus apartments. This plan meets the needs of students who prepare some meals for themselves in their apartments. Off-Campus Plan | This plan is the minimum required for those students residing off-campus.

Questions? We have answers! How do I know which meal plan I should buy?
College Students lead active lifestyles and our meal plans are designed to fit around your busy schedules. The platinum meal plan is designed to provide the best value and allow you to purchase meals as well as some of the many other great options we have available on campus. Pick up a specialty latte from Peet’s Coffee or your favorite smoothie from Jamba Juice in between classes. Grab some sushi and a boba tea for a great snack or stock up your dorm room for movie night with treats from our on-campus convenience stores. If you will be eating off-campus more often or are a light eater you can select the Gold or Silver meal plan which provide less meal points to be used on campus.
Do meal points roll-over?
Unused meal points will roll over from fall semester to spring semester, however, you are still required to purchase a new meal plan for the spring. At the end of the spring semester any unused meal points are forfeited. During the semester you will have opportunities to purchase bulk items, or transfer meal points to other students or to the food security fund. If you find you have too many meal points at the end of the fall semester you can purchase a smaller meal plan for the spring semester.
How do the WashU meal plans work?
Meal Plans at WashU are different than most universities. Our meal plans are 100% declining balance meal points. All of our dining centers on campus are al-a-carte so you are only paying for the food you eat. All of our dining centers display the price for each item so you know exactly how much you will be paying for each meal.
7
Where and when can I use my meal points? You can use your meal points at any location on campus operated by WashU Dining Services. There is no restriction on when, where and how many points you can use at one time. How many meals per week will I be able to eat with my plan?
A declining balance meal plan does not provide a set number of meals per week. Instead, you receive a certain amount of meal points at the beginning of the semester to spend. The number of meals this will get you depends on your specific eating habits and the type of food you like to eat. Larger meal plans will provide you with more meal points to start the semester. Our Silver Meal Plan is our most common plan and is designed to provide the average student with approx. 10-12 meals per week on campus. Many students purchase a larger plan to provide more meals and snacks.
What do I do if I run out of meal points?
If you run out of meal points WashU has Bear Bucks available that you can load to your student account at any time. Bear Bucks can be used in the dining halls just like meal points.
How do I know how many points I have left?
You can check your meal point balance at any time by logging into WebSTAC. You can also request a receipt any time you make a purchase and your balance will be displayed on your receipt.
Are there any meal plan restrictions on where I can eat?
Meal plans are only valid at Dining Services campus locations. See map on pg. 15 and pg. 16 for details.
Can I use my meal points off-campus?
No. Meal points are designed to be only be used on campus in locations operated by WashU Dining Services. Many local businesses have an agreement with WashU to accept Bear Bucks as a method of payment.
How do I access my meal plan?
Your meal plan is loaded onto your student ID card so you only need to carry one card with you on campus. This card will give you access to buildings, your meal plan as well as your Bear Bucks account.

Meeting Your Nutrition Needs Our menus are designed with you in mind. We can work with you individually to find allergy-friendly, safe menu items as well as vegan, vegetarian, Halal & Kosher meals that would best meet your individual needs.
Food Allergies & Intolerances We encourage any and all students with a nutrition & dining need especially pertaining to food allergies to work directly with our dietitians. We can help explain the various menu options so you feel comfortable and safe while dining on campus. While we have allergy friendly menus available at Bear’s Den, DUC, and Village as well as mobile ordering options on Grubhub (see pg. 11), we can also connect you with location-specific chefs and managers to make sure your needs and preferences are being met. Vegetarian & Vegan We have vegetarian and vegan options available throughout campus, including our dining halls, Ibby's Bistro, and cafes. In fact, you can find vegetarian or vegan options at every station at the Bear's Den, DUC, and Village. Kosher We have Kosher meals available in all of our grab & go coolers as well as a designated Kosher station (L'Chaim) in the Bear's Den for lunch and dinner. We also partner with a local deli as well as Hillel & Chabad for weekend meal needs. Halal You can find Halal meals at the WU Fusion station in Bear's Den for both lunch & dinner. We have prepackaged grab & go items in our markets that are marked with the Halal icon. The DUC also offers Halal chicken dishes on the comfort menu. The newly converted comfort station at the Bear's Den is Top 8 allergy friendly and offers Halal meals everyday. Continue to look throughout the semester as we continue to grow Halal offerings throughout campus.
Look for these icons on all of our menu items in the dining halls and on our website. These icons indicate that a menu item contains the following allergens.
dairy/milk
egg
wheat/ gluten
soy
shellfish
fish
peanuts/ treenuts
Indicates that a menu item can meet your personal, cultural, or religious observances and needs. Indicates an item may contain any of the allergens listed above. Indicates the item is nutritional-balanced and represents an item from our Bear Balance program.

Top 8 Allergy Friendly Menus
Bear's Top 8 Friendly is our new program to meet the needs of our students with various food allergies, but anyone can dine at the stations and enjoy the food! Bear's Top 8 Friendly identifies menu items that are made without the top 8 food allergens (milk/dairy, egg, wheat/gluten, soy, shellfish, fish, and peanuts/treenuts). Additionally, we’re preventing as much cross contact as possible by enhanced sanitation procedures, designated work stations, staff training, and process monitoring. You can find Bear's Top 8 Friendly at: • DUC comfort station for lunch, Monday - Friday • Bear's Den comfort station for dinner, 7 days a week • Village for dinner, Monday - Friday • Grubhub's menu for mobile ordering for breakfast, lunch, & dinner at the DUC, Bear's Den, & Village For questions, concerns, or general inquiry about the program and where it can be found, email diningservices@wustl.edu!

We focus on nutrients that provide fullness & satisfaction as well as sustained energy throughout the day, including lean proteins, heart-healthy fats, whole grains, and nutrients & antioxidants from vegetables and fruits! Farm to Fork We help invest in the health of our community and the future of our food supply by purchasing seasonal and regional ingredients from local, St. Louis area based farmers, artisans, and producers, whenever possible. We define “local” as products that come from within 150 miles of our campus. We do this because food grown locally: • is fresher, better tasting and can have great nutritional value • supports family farmers and keeps money invested in the community • preserves bio-diversity • protects open space

During a typical week, we purchase 9,372 pounds of local produce, protein and dairy to fuel the campus. That’s over 4 tons of tomatoes, squash, melons, beans, apples, greens, bacon, pork, yogurt and more! We’re proud to support our local partners, farmers and alumni-founded businesses.
Sustainability WUSTL Dining Services has been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency for excellence in food waste recovery efforts and won a NACUFS Sustainability Gold Award for Excellence in Waste Management. Our commitment to sustainability is rooted in preparing flavorful food that nourishes the Washington University community, replenishes our shared natural resources for future generations and is produced through practices that support farmers. Here are a few of the ways we practice sustainability!
Taking the Guess Work out of Waste!
Pledge to Green Monday!
Reducing, reusing and recycling waste is an essential component of an institutional sustainability effort. It is often one of the first ways that new students or guests see the university’s commitments manifested in action. Recycling programs rely on an informed community to participate in waste avoidance and properly managing personal waste, whether they are in one of our dining spaces, an office setting, classroom or residential living space.
Commit to Green Monday to help save water and energy by eating vegetarian at least once a week. We offer a delicious variety of plant-based options every day. Start your week off right, like these students who have taken the pledge! You can take the pledge at sustainability.wustl.edu.
