be brave In the last edition of Stay Connected Digital magazine, we met Dave ‘Dinger’ Bell, who is rowing the North Atlantic on his own, partially to raise money for three brilliant UK charities, partially to push himself to the limits. If you follow Dinger on social media you will see he is an avid supporter of Bravery. Set up by Tobias Gutteridge, Bravery is a UK based clothing company, with a difference. Bravery encourages people to get out of

their comfort zone and achieve great things, one act of bravery at a time. Bravery’s founder Toby is an avid motocross rider, surfer and overall extreme sports fan. He set up Bravery after being shot in the neck whilst on tour in Afghanistan. This left him instantly paralysed from the neck down. Toby’s rehabilitation story was full of struggle and he still faces challenges each day. His attitude to life is truly inspirational, he tackles life head-on and does not allow anything to get him down. He decided to combine his < BACK TO CONTENTS >

love for life, sports and thrills with his first class honours degree in business studies to create Bravery, the apparel company that encapsulates what it is to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Bravery is not only a clothing company with such a brilliant ethos, they also support charities for underprivileged children and discharged members of the Armed Forces. Bravery supports Surfers Not Street Children, a charity for the at risk children living on the street in Durban, South Africa. On the streets children can be subjected to abuse or exploitation, forced into petty crime. Without intervention disease, prison or death will be their fate. Bravery has focused their charitable efforts on education for children, allowing them to grow up with plenty of potential. Toby’s aim of setting up Bravery was to empower people, and support people going through tough times in their life. To encourage people to keep going and have the resilience and strength to keep going when things get tough. The Bravery mission is to help and inspire people and encourage them to complete their personal challenges regardless of the obstacles in the way. It aims to encourage you to be Brave.
