MAY 26 - JULY 31 SUMMER PROGRAM KICK-OFF EVENT: HOT DOG COOK-OUT WITH FAREWAY! FRIDAY, JUNE 2 11:00AM-12:00PM Drop by the library for a hot dog and chips, provided by the Waukee Fareway. After your lunch, stop inside the library to shop at the Book Fair and sign up for Summer Reading!

BRICK BUILDERS TUESDAYS IN JUNE & JULY 6:00 - 7:30p.m. Young science fans are welcome to build engineering skills with the library’s collection of LEGOs. Each week there will be a STEM Station in the room with an experiment demonstration. There will also be an optional LEGO engineering challenge that children are encouraged to complete before free-play. Recommended for K-5th grades. Registration is required for this event.

FRIDAY FAMILY FUN TIME! FRIDAYS IN JUNE & JULY 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Families are invited to visit the library and enjoy a variety of entertainment from a talented series of special guests. Programs are recommended for ages 4-10 years, unless otherwise indicated. No registration is required for these events.

ABSOLUTE SCIENCE JUNE 9 Watch awesome experiments and learn about the science behind them. You will experience hair-raising static electricity, explore light refraction, witness molecular compression, see dry ice in action and so much more!

THURSDAY, JUNE 8 10:00 a.m. Join Critter Cindy to have fun learning about wildlife. Recommended for kids entering K-2nd grade in the fall. No registration required.

THURSDAY, JULY 6 10:00 a.m. K-2nd graders are invited to join Iowa State Extension Outreach staff to learn about coding robots! Registration is required for this event.

GREEK MYTHOLOGY STARLAB

THURSDAY, JUNE 15 10:00 a.m. Kids entering 3rd-5th grade in the fall can register to learn about Greek mythology constellations from Dallas County Conservation. Class size will be limited to the number of children who can fit inside the Starlab Planetarium. Registration is required for this event.

THURSDAY, JULY 27 10:00 a.m. Kids entering 3rd-5th grade in the fall can join staff from the Iowa State Insect Zoo to learn about the buildings of bugs. This program is 90 minutes long, and class size is limited. Registration is required for this event.

ESSENTIAL OILS 101

TUESDAY, JUNE 6 6:00 p.m. Cindy Torvik of Straightening Your Paths will share her tips and tricks for decluttering and organizing. She will also discuss how we accumulate objects in the first place. Cindy has been a team member of SYP since 2007 and is a life-long organizer. Bring your decluttering questions for her!

TUESDAY, JULY 11 5:30 p.m. Learn essential oil basics with aromatherapist Susan Bakken! Have fun and participate in an interactive style class that will cover essential oils, safety, basic blending and a few recipes. Leave with knowledge to jump into essential oils and see how they can enhance your life, health and wellbeing! Susan is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Energy Master, Reflexologist and has her certification in Aromatherapy.
