SUNDAY, AUGUST 6 1:00 p.m. Presented by Rod Stanley
Imagine one of the largest amusement parks in Iowa (circa 1916) with a huge swimming pool, dancing, skating, music, and carnival rides, including a Ferris wheel. Rod will be discussing the former Dexfield Amusement Park located by Dexter. He will also discuss Des Moines’ Riverview Amusement Park and the still active historical Arnold’s Park in Okoboji.
Ortonville used to be a town populated by lions, elephants, tight wire walkers, trapeze artists, bareback riders, and clowns. For nearly 70 years, this Dallas County town was the headquarters for the Orton family traveling troupe.
