Mr. Kurt Walters t Walters has the oratorical powers of Churchill, the compassion of Gandhi, and the firm but fair

ership of Julius Caesar. . .or Eisenhower if you want an example of a general who lead his people tout being assassinated for forgiving people too often. During my first year at Wayland, we were 1g out to eat, and I had the windows down on the Cruiser; I was blasting Classical music, and I ogized that it must be a true sign of geekiness. When he said that he was enjoying it, I knew that I found a kindred spirit. From opera in Chicago and a trip to Paris to enduring Canadian flu in 1e, Mr. Walters has been my Pinky. Thanks for all the laughs and all the advice, even when I did .vant to hear it. Love, Pinkie

,._ Dr. Keely lake

first time I met Mr. Walters was at the fall open house during my eight grade year. I don't a whole lot from that day. But one distinct memory I do have is going to a mock European ory class taught by Mr. Walters. It was so much fun. I knew right away that I wanted to take that ; when I came to Wayland. However I was disappointed to learn that one doesn't take that class one is a junior, so I had to wait. Then junior year came and I finally got to take Euro, and I must twas one of the most fun classes I have ever had. Mr. Walters, the way you teach makes your ;es an absolute blast. ~mber

:hree years Mr. Walters has been my AAP supervisor, and even though I only did AAP to avoid the r fall sports, he has made all those fall afternoons memorable. I'll miss kickball and blob tag next

year having him as a mentor and as a dorm head has been excellent. It's a good feeling knowing he is looking out for me, and his support has helped me get through some of the most difficult s this year. Mr. Walters, you have really helped me to grow as an individual, and I can't thank you tgh for all you've done for me.

,._ David Mosly ' 1 1

so many boys who've formed lifelong friendships here, Mr. Walters and I met on the steps of land Hall. We quickly discovered our mutual love of history, BBC sitcoms, and Star Wars. One of ew things I can say for certain is that neither of us knew what we were getting into. cade later, we have been through many of the highs and lows of boarding school life. I admire the trity and humor that Mr. Walters brings to his job each day and the way he unfailingly puts what's for his students and his colleagues ahead of his own wishes. From the early morning review ons to the countless times he's pinch-hit for another faculty member who was unable to cover a . Mr. Walters has proven time and again that, though he's not an accomplished athlete, he is one of land's greatest team players. I consider myself both unbelievably fortunate and undeserving to call my friend. And to Mr. Walters, I say "May the Force Be With You," and "Yokozuna!"

,._Mr. PJ. Osvali

/\n.CXie to Papa Walters By: Brcrl<.e Sd1.unarn! 11 My Loving People, I do not mean to bias, but there is a man so pious, I am keen on telling you. Imagine embarking upon a talk so soothing a walk so moving, that it possesses everyone's heart. He comes into classes wearing his glasses, holding a new cup of tea. The students are waiting to begin their notating on who Mr. Walters will be. His quote of the day is his little way of letting us know he cares. With a smile and grin, Mr. Walters is in, ready to begin the day. As students fall short, they want to abort, but Josephine Butler's on her way. We start out with the British, for whom we are never skitish, because they are simply the best, but we are shocked and amazed with all of the ways that Queen Elizabeth would dress. With a spirit so soaring, he begins imploring his class to say, How one so great as Bismarck, the man leading monarchs, could ever let Germany be led astray. From dirigibles and fountains to the Pyrenees Mountains, Mr. Walters will save the day. "You have unlimited potential," the learning torrential, infecting us all like the plague. Mr. Walters, I must confess, that your love of history is a hot mess, No one adores it more than you do, but with your way you always come through. You always make history extra fun, with your never ending, unexpected puns!

Your dedication and love for your students your caring and the utmost prudence outweighs all of the rest, all because you are the very best.

My experience was the best at Wayland because of the people who helped me through and supported me along the ride . I want to thank my dad, especially for pushing me and never giving up on me when he could have easily stopped caring . Thank you so much. Mom, you have always been there for support and to call whenever I needed help. I could not have done it without you. To the rest of my familly, Mark you're my dog and you showed me the ropes, not just some but all. Allie, keep the name strong, don't let the little things keep you down -- keep moving forward. Michael and Luke , you're like brothers to me. I could not have asked for better best friends. To all of my friends, you're the reason why this place was so special. Finally to my wonderful girlfriend, Leslie, you're amazing. I could not imagine being here without you . You're the light of my life. I love you so much.

I have many memories to keep with me from Wayland. I wi ll never forget all of the great times that I had with my friends. Like the moments that I had with my ex-roommate Willie and others. The times we woke up early, and stayed up late to play Halo on the weekends; Matt, Will ie, Karl, Kyle Yang. The crying mental breakdown that Davis had my sophomore year. Those roomings and dormings we had to go through as a whole in Wayland Hall. And finally who can forget the great football memories we had as a team: the time Curly got a fumble and ran it for, like, 30 yards, Caleb getting a two point conversion, and our final 350 that we ran whi le carrying Matt. Even though we did not have the season that we wanted, this year's football team was the best, and I want to thank you all for helping create these memories. I will never forget you guys. I thought of Wayland as a second home, and I want to thank the whole Wayland Community for making that possible. So do not take Wayland for granted, make something of it. Be friends with everybody; do not spend your years here hating somebody, because then you will miss out on all of the fun and great moments that you could have. Finally I would like to thank my parents and all of the people who helped me attend Wayland. I want to let you guys know how thankful I am, because if it we re not for you guys then I would never be were I am now. I am really, truly grateful for all of this.

First of all, I want to thank my parents for giving me an opportunity to study in the United States. My 4 years at Wayland are all filled with good memories. I've had so much fun with great friends, and the 4 years have just flown by me. Mr. Hill, thank you for being such a great mentor. Ms. Kesler, I cannot thank you enough, you have helped me so much throughout my entire 4 years at Wayland, Mr. Boucher, thank you for being such a great coach and advisor; without your help, I would have had a hard time both in sports and Wayland life. Ms. Moe, thank you for also being a great coach and supportive adviser at all times. Without the help I got from the faculty, I don't think I could have made it here. Ella senior wing guys, I will miss you guys especially. I will miss everyone so much.

Wayland wouldn't be Wayland without all the people making up its community. I am so grateful to have been part of such a friendly environment. Not once was I treated rudely, and if it appeared so at first the misunderstanding was soon cleared up. Thank you to everyone who told me to do my homework and especially those who chased me down instead of just letting me receive a lesser grade. Thank you to all the 'dorm moms' who turned complete disasters into small set backs and turned small accomplishments into epic victories. Thank you for being the kind of community that accepts people's quirks and gives ample freedom for growth. I couldn't have asked for a better place than Wayland to mature in, not that I'm finished yet, but I'm much farther than I was. By the way: Mozart is a vampire (not the sparkly kind); Bach is a werewolf (although not until after he supposedly died); and the Wayland faculty are secretly super-powered super-heroes who save reality on a daily basis in their free time between teaching and grading and writing tests and number one duty and ... Just Kidding ... Or am I? Good Luck to Dragon, Theta, Impatient Duck, and Ninja whose name keeps changing he's so furtive. DO THE WORK! (and don't let BGC die!)

From my first trust fall until! now, I never imagined it would end this way. Four years ago, I was very happy to sit among all the Wayland students and teachers, the ones I would eventually become similar to. Wayland does that to you; it encourages you to better yourself and others around you. It makes you want to live up to your potential. For all non-seniors: being a part of Wayland is a blessing, embrace it; you don't realize how fast your time here is expiring. To the best mentor I could ever ask for: Ms. Boucher, you are awesome! I don't know how many times I vented to you , and you listened patiently until I calmed down. To the mentor group: I'll miss you all SO much. Our akward conversations are impeccable. To all my friends: I love you guys. You've changed me for the better. To my siblings: you have encouraged me to be involved in everything I've done. And last but not least, my parents, you offered the chance for me to go to Wayland, supported me in all my crazy endeavors, and helped me become the person I am today, and for that I thank you. To all: I love you and I love Wayland. I'll never forget all the memories we have made.

Wayland has been more than I could ever have hoped for. I came here relatively lonely and stayed that way for only about a week or two before I got paddled by a crazy North Korean . I don't think I ever was lonely for a moment after that. I could go on and on about the good folks of Wayland , but several stand out. I will miss Willie Allen , though I don't think the back of my desk chair wi ll. I will miss James Urquhart and his constant slew of inappropriate humor. Eggrolls and airplanes will never be normal to me because of you, James. I will miss my Ferrari and vampire loving suitemates Michael and Thierry. I will miss Michael Paugh and will continue to envy his ability to grow a beard in under a week. I will miss Mr. Boucher and will ever appreciate his large role in bringing me to Wayland. Lastly I will miss the aforementioned crazy North Korean. I don't know to put this best, but you are wise beyond your years, Kyle. Once you can get past your somewhat violent tendencies, I think you will be an even more wonderful person. Also, when you get hitched, you damned well better invite me to the wedding! Mom, your prayers were answered , and I hope one day to be half the Mother you are . Thank you for making me the woman I am today. My brother Mike, you're the most amazing person I have ever met. Thanks for being one of my best friends . I couldn 't thank my supportive Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins enough. You are all are simply unexplainable. Jackie Van , you are simply incredible, I love you . My wonderful friends at Wayland got me through everything. Draz and Zard all the way .

~rook{l ~humann I cou ld never have asked for a better way to spend my last days at Wayland Academy than with the following five aston ish ing women . Altogether, we have done the impossible with great teamwork. The blood , sweat, and tears we have sacrificed for th is yearbook should not go unnoticed . Lara, your eye fo r perfection has made you so valuable for the success of our yearbook. You have caught the th ings that my attitude glasses cou ld never pick up. Grace, you took on everything you were assigned and completed it with great allure. Although you always stole my computer and showed a little too much affection , I love you no matter how much I say I hate you . Renn, you are the "Name Queen!" If something wasn't finished, you would finish it. Mackenzie, your dedication to the yearbook is indescribable. I will always remember "Our Adventure! " Ms. Boucher, your expertise and insightful ness is what makes the class such a pleasure to be a part of. Thank you! Let "Barbie Girl" live on!

bara 6rfl{lnaer~ Yearbook this year has truly been amazing! 7th period everyday with some of my favorite girls is pretty much the highlight of my day (when Grace and I would actually show up). Renn and Grace-1 am going to miss you two so much next year; I can lt even explain how much you guys brighten my day:) Brooke and Mackenzie-This is our last Wayland yearbook .. .let's make sure it's perfect! 1m so glad that you two are the ones with whom I got to have this amazing experience! and finallllllly BOUCHYYY! I love you! 1

Yearbook has been quite the experience. First semester I thought that I would not be able to take Yearbook at all , so I just started helping out. I never would have guessed that it wou ld turn out to be so much fun. I knew that I would have a great time working with Renn and Lara. Working with Brooke is always fun. Ou r "Crunch Night" was amazing, and I will never forget it (or that odorous smell that stuck in my nose). Grace, however, was the one I worried about. It took me some time, but I warmed up to Grace. I can now say that she is one of my favorite people in the class! Thank you to Ms. Boucher who was always there to answer my questions.

Yearbook is the most fun class I've ever had. Thanks to Brooke, Lara, Renn, and, I suppose, Mackenzie. :) Ms. Boucher is one of my favorite teachers, and I can talk to her about anything. Brooke says she hates me, but in reality she lies. She told me so herself. ;) Lara was one of the nices路 people to me when I first came here as a "new student" and I' forever be thankful for that. Renn is just awesome and has patience with me, even when it's impossible. Mackenzie is in love with me and cannot get enough;). Just kidding, I love he1 though. -Thank you Wayland Academy for the wonderful opportunity to be on the Yearbook staff.

Rmn Jerois So Yearbok this year has been so much fun, I love all of the senic in class and Grace, you're just plain silly. Brooke, I'm so glad the we had this time to work on studying for Medieval and Current World Issues, and how you force me to get out of bed in the morning-I'm not usually too happy about that, but I still love you! ~ mentee Lara, Your super OCD-ness is great, because I am the absolute worst at arranging things evenly. Grace, I had fun yelling the computer with you when it didn't want to work, and then realizing we were doing something wrong. Mackenzie, you're sill~ and it's been fun working with you . Finally, to Ms. Boucher: WE LOVE YOU. Thanks for being such an awesome teacher, even if \1 did leave things 'til the last minute. :) Hurrah for yearbook!

Thank You A project such as the yearbook does not happen with out an army of help. First and foremost thank you to my staff. You were all awesome. It was nice to know I never had worry because one of you would worry for me. To all of you who donated photos, Mrs. Wahl, my Snowball paprazzi team, and anyone else who added to the cause. A special thank you to Anne Rauschert, without whom, many of these pages may have been bare. Thank you to my extra sets of eyes, Sophie Ptaschinski and Dr. Lake who are way better at spelling and grammer than I am. Lastly, thank you to you, the community. For rolling your eyes after the picture has been taken and not during, for keeping your hands at your sides when asked, for mugging for the camera when you wanted your picture taken and for putting up with us when you didn't. You make it possible for us to document the year in the best way possible.
