Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision Program features

Admission requirements

Accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

To be considered for admission to the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision program, the student must submit the following information:

54-credit degree completed in 3-5 years

Faculty members are recognized experts in their fields

• Proof of Master’s degree in counseling or equivalent as determined by the faculty. GPA in the Master’s program must be 3.5 or higher.

Classes meet Tuesday nights from 6-10 p.m. at the Southpointe Center location

Areas of study include advanced counseling skills, leadership, research, supervision and teaching Qualifies graduates to work as counselor educators in colleges and universities, or as leaders in clinical mental health, addictions or school counseling

Career opportunities The Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision is intended to prepare individuals for employment as counselor educators in colleges and universities and as leaders in the fields of clinical mental health counseling, addictions counseling or school counseling. The program provides graduates with the information and skills required to carry out scholarly research, lead organizations and create new knowledge.

• Official transcripts from all prior academic courses or programs • Scores from Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) Applicants who have passed a certification exam are exempt. • Professional Resume (two years of direct experience in counseling preferred) • Two letters of recommendation • A personal statement • Admissions committee interview • Criminal History Record, FBI Fingerprint, and Child Abuse History clearances
