PRESIDENT’S LETTER Whether you’re a parent, an athlete, a member of the media or a spirited spectator, I am pleased to welcome you to our Yellow Jacket community and look forward to cheering on the Jackets with you! As a member of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC), Waynesburg University offers 20 NCAA Division III varsity sports for our hundreds of student-athletes. While the reasons for participation in these sports are many, all of our athletic programs are aimed at helping our studentathletes grow spiritually, intellectually and athletically during their collegiate experience. During the 2016-17 academic year, 95 Waynesburg University studentathletes earned recognition on the PAC fall and spring Academic Honor Rolls, an impressive achievement that illustrates the caliber of studentathletes at Waynesburg.

President Douglas G. Lee

Through the hard work and dedication of these same individuals, Waynesburg claimed four PAC team titles, which matches our highest total since joining the conference in 1990.

www.waynesburgsports.com

Our goal is to provide our student-athletes with the best possible education and experiences that will prepare them to lead lives of purpose. We actively recruit student-athletes with high academic standards who will pursue excellence in the classroom and community while competing at the highest level in their chosen sport.

2

In addition to the accomplishments made by our student-athletes, Waynesburg University has also been recognized as a national leader in educational value and outcomes by U.S. News and World Report, Colleges of Distinction, Money Magazine and USA Today. On behalf of Waynesburg University students, faculty and staff, I would like to thank you for your interest in our athletic programs. I hope that you enjoy another great year of athletic competition at Waynesburg University!

Douglas G. Lee President

MIKE HUMISTON

13th year as head coach | 21st year overall at Waynesburg 227-274-3 at Waynesburg | 227-274-3 Overall Weber State, 1981 For the past decade-plus, Mike Humiston has been the head coach of the Waynesburg University baseball program. Now entering his 13th season at the helm of the Yellow Jackets in 2018, Humiston has enjoyed recent success as the Yellow Jackets have qualified for the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) tournament in 2014 and 2015. Prior to the 2006 season, Humiston served as an assistant in the Yellow Jacket program for eight seasons. In 2015, Humiston’s squad surpassed 20 victories for the third time in four years, earning second-place in the PAC regular season standings. The Jackets carried their succes into the postseason, where Waynesburg eliminated Thiel from the conference championship tournament. The Orange and Black nearly upset Thomas More before being eliminated in the tournament. Waynesburg followed up its performance in the PAC postseason by accepting an invitation to the ECAC Southwest Tournament. It was the secondstraight year that the Jackets qualified for the event.

www.waynesburgsports.com

In 2014, Waynesburg placed fourth in the conference regular season standings with a 13-11 PAC mark. The Jackets then upset and eliminated number-three seeded Bethany in the postseason tournament. The 2013 Jackets made program history by winning the ECAC South Tournament. Junior outfielder Clay Roman was named Most Outstanding Player of the event. Before he was named head coach following the 2005 season, Humiston enjoyed a successful tenure as a Yellow Jacket assistant coach, as Waynesburg posted five-straight seasons with 19-plus wins. In 2003, the Yellow Jackets led the PAC in 12 offensive categories, including batting average, on-base percentage, hits and runs scored. As a team, Waynesburg ranked 11th in Division III with a .351 batting average and finished second in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Championships.

18

Individually, Bill Tenney, George Taylor, Jason Tremblay and Holt were named first-team allconference. Holt led the team in both homers and RBI, while Tremblay and Tenney each batted above .400. In 1998, Humiston helped coach a veteran Yellow Jacket team that won the PAC Championship. Humiston coached a trio of first-team all-conference players in Brian Cutlip, Charlie Humes and Adam Jack, who was selected PAC Most Valuable Player. Humiston graduated from Weber State in 1981 before playing six seasons as a linebacker in the National Football League. He and is married to his wife Debi and the pair currently resides in Waynesburg. Humiston is employed by Waynesburg University as the director of the Department of Public Safety.
