PARENT NEWSLETTER Here to provide you insight, updates, and information on your student's experience at WU
Updates from the Dean Dear Parents and Guardians, The fall semester is quickly coming to an end. Students will soon take their final exams and are looking forward to a restful Christmas holiday with family and friends. As we enter the Christmas season, Waynesburg University has so much to be grateful for and celebrate! As we prepare for a new spring semester, we reflect on past accomplishments from Student Development. Our department is particularly thankful for the opportunity again to fulfill our mission of service both locally and domestically. We were able to offer more than 75 on and off-campus student activity events and enhance community relationships through a number of residence hall programs. Our Commuter Club has played an active role by hosting various events such as early morning coffee and doughnuts. Just a friendly reminder that residence halls and on-campus houses officially close for the semester on Saturday, December 16 at noon and reopen for the spring semester on Sunday, January 14 at noon. Spring semester classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16. Student Development looks forward to serving alongside your student again this spring semester! I hope your Christmas season is filled with the joy of family and friends. For those of you who will be traveling, please travel safely. I wish you peace, health, good spirits, and blessings, Kelley Hardie, Dean of Students

Revised Federal Student Aid Estimator As we await the 2024-25 FAFSA (hopefully by the end of December?), the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) announced a recently revised Federal Student Aid Estimator that provides an estimate of the new Student Aid Index (SAI), which replaces the old “Expected Family Contribution (EFC),” and possible Federal Pell Grant eligibility.

Spring Tuition Billing The Spring 2024 tuition statements were sent out electronically on November 29 and will be due on January 4, 2024. Statements are electronic; students and authorized users received an email notification from Nelnet Campus Commerce when the new statement was available. The email provides the balance and due date. Users can view the full statement and transaction detail by logging onto the online tuition account and clicking on View Current Bill. The billing statements are static and a snapshot of the account at the time it was generated. Live up to date balance information by semester is also available on the student’s online tuition account home page. In order for parents or guardians to have access to the electronic bill and tuition account, they must be added as an authorized party by the student. If you have already been added as an authorized user you should have received the notification that the Spring statement was available. Students have been provided instructions for accessing and using their online account by email with the initial billing each semester. If they have not yet accessed their account or added an authorized party, or if they have any questions, please have them contact the Business Office and we would be happy to walk them through setting up their account. Please note that Nelnet Campus Commerce, who we are partnered with to provide electronic statements, has implemented a multi-factor authentication (MFA) across their systems. Starting November 13, all authorized users will be prompted to utilize the MFA process when you log in to the online tuition account. You will be provided a one-time code to verify your identity each time you log in. Should you have any questions related to this process, please contact Nelnet Campus Commerce at 800.609.8056.

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Waynesburg University will kick off its 175th Anniversary celebrations with a Holiday Spectacular concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Brass Section in Roberts Chapel on Wednesday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend. Tickets are $15 per person and are available for purchase online at waynesburg.edu/pittsburghsymphony. In recent years, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra began a holiday tradition of presenting this brass concert in Heinz Hall to sold-out crowds. This year, Waynesburg University is pleased to present a preview of that performance to Greene County and the surrounding communities for a portion of the cost to Heinz Hall.

Money Magazine names Waynesburg University one of America’s Best Colleges Waynesburg University has been recognized as one of America’s Best Colleges in Money’s 2023 rankings. “Waynesburg University has a history of offering accessible, high quality, Christian education,” said Waynesburg University President Douglas G. Lee. “This ranking reflects our commitment to that purpose.” This year, for the first time, Money grouped colleges into one of six ratings, from 2.5 stars to 5 stars, instead of a numbered ranking. Waynesburg University received a 4-star rating. Money’s Best Colleges process starts with all of the four-year public and private nonprofit colleges in the country, a group that totals more than 2,400. Of those, 736 colleges met Money’s criteria and were ranked based on 26 factors in three categories, including quality (30%), affordability (40%) and student outcomes (30%). Earlier this year, Waynesburg University was also recognized as a 2023-2024 College of Distinction for its continued commitment to engaged, hands-on education for the eighth consecutive year. In addition, the University’s programs in business, education and nursing received specialized recognition from Colleges of Distinction. Click here to learn more
