The Education Department at Waynesburg University is excited to begin our partnership with ASSET/PALS (Partnership to Advanced Learning in STEM) in implementing their PALS program with first-year education students during the 2023-2024 school year. In addition to the real-life observations and teaching experiences provided through our partnerships with local school districts, WU students will be able to learn about, observe, and practice online tutoring with elementary-aged students as part of their coursework in the Education Department. This work will not only allow our students to learn about and participate in well-designed distance learning opportunities, but students will also learn the importance of and techniques for building positive teacher/tutor-student relationships to encourage learning. This wonderful new experience will lay the groundwork for future teaching and learning experiences throughout students’ journeys toward becoming certified teachers in Pennsylvania We are all looking forward to this interesting new adventure!
