Updates from the Dean

Dear Parent or Guardian,

I hope you had a wonderful summer. Our faculty and staff at Waynesburg University have been very busy welcoming back all of our students for another great academic year! The university is off to an amazing start, and there are lots of great things happening on campus! I am excited to share that Student Development will be implementing changes in the names of two familiar departments to reflect the work we’ve been doing to advance a holistic learning experience and to create a more student-centered culture. At the beginning of this semester, Student Activities’ name changed to Student Engagement, and the Center for Service Leadership will now also include Cultural Diversity and Belonging.

Student Engagement will be offering a variety of both on- and off-campus opportunities for the entire student body. They hosted their annual on-campus tye-dye and ice cream social and the ever-popular Bingo! Off-campus, students will have the opportunity to travel to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, Kennywood Amusement Park and to a Pittsburgh Pirate’s Game. The Center for Service Leadership and Cultural Diversity and Belonging is offering domestic and international service trips for every break; fall, winter, spring and summer, connecting our mission of faith, learning and service! Please encourage your student to explore the Service Tab, located on myConnect, for additional information.

As the Dean of Students, I am committed to helping your students grow in all areas of life outside the classroom! As always, we are here to support your student and assist you with any questions along the way Please do not hesitate to contact us at (724) 852-3206

Best wishes for an extraordinary Waynesburg Experience, and GO JACKETS!

Blessings,

September 2023

FAFSA CHANGES Coming in 2024-2025!

Believe it or not, although the new year has just begun, it is time to begin thinking about the 2024-2025 financial aid year With “FAFSA simplification” being passed by Congress under the FUTURE ACT, BIG changes are coming, the biggest being when the new FAFSA will be available to students and their families. Unlike previous years when it was available on October 1st, the 2024-25 FAFSA will not be available until late December 2023 So, mark your calendars now, plan accordingly and stay tuned for additional information in the future!

Everbridge Emergency Notifications

The beginning of the Fall semester each year is the perfect time to register your cell phone or other contact information with Waynesburg University’s Everbridge Emergency Alert system. Registration is fast and simple and accessible through MyConnect on the main page.

Every student and employee with a “waynesburg.edu” address is automatically notified via email in the event of a crisis situation, weather emergency, or campus closure, etc. However, updating cell or home phone information ensures your student is immediately informed of an evolving incident through phone calls and SMS text messages as well.

This is just one of the many ways Waynesburg University’s security operations works hard to keep its Campus Community safe

Any questions about Waynesburg‘s Security Operations or Emergency Management can be directed to James Tanda, director, or the Department of Public Safety, at jtanda@waynesburgedu
