Dungeons & Dragons

Join in the roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons. The structure to the stories brings new ways to determine the consequences of the adventurers’ actions. Players roll dice to determine whether their attacks hit or miss and whether their characters can scale a cliff, roll away from the strike of a magical lightning bolt, or pull off some other dangerous task. Anything is possible, but the dice make some things more probable than others. Premade characters and dice will be provided. No experience, knowledge, or supplies are necessary. Optionally, you can read the rules or make your own character for free at dndbeyond.com

Misty Fortunes and Absent Hearts - Part 2

After a supernaturally dense fog rolls into the area and the region is plunged into an unseasonably cold winter, the adventurers find themselves transported to Barovia, a land with no joy, sun, or hope. Can they escape? During these 7 sessions characters will progress from level 5 to 10. Level 5 characters will be provided, though players may bring their own. Curse of Strahd and Misthunter character options are allowed.

Star Bright Players Auditions –A

Christmas Carol (Broadway Version)

The Star Bright Players Fall 2023 production will be A Christmas Carol, the spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens’ most well-known story, adapted by Broadway heavy hitters Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island). We are thrilled to be offering this holiday classic to our community! Director: Blandina Vergara-Cruz

Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful “Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him. Please refer to our website HERE for important pre-audition information and forms.

REHEARSALS will be Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30PM starting Wednesday, September 20 with a mandatory cast/crew/parent meeting. Stars to the East Auditions – The Lightning Thief

Our new Stars to the East Program will have a Star Bright East production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical as its first production. With book by Joe Tracz and Music and Lyrics by Rob Rokicki, this dynamic musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s bestselling book opened on Broadway in 2019.

Director: Blandina Vergara-Cruz

As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure “worthy of the gods” (Time Out New York). Please refer to our website HERE in August for important pre-audition information and forms.

REHEARSALS will be Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30PM starting Monday, October 16 with a mandatory cast/crew/parent meeting. These rehearsals will primarily be at the College Grove Artsitorium with three of the rehearsals at the Nolensville Rec Center.

PERFORMANCES/FEES: There will be four performances January 19-21 at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center. The activity fee will be **$175.

The jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in this play specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book and features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie. Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.

Mission Statement:

It is the goal of the Williamson County Community Chorus to engage passions, inspire achievement, deepen connections and broaden community through choral music.

The Williamson County Community Chorus was founded in 2017 under the direction of Dr. Linda Bolding. The chorus grew quickly and at only 2 years old was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in February 2020. The chorus is open for participation by qualified High School students, adults and seniors who have past experience and a passion for singing. The chorus performs no less than twice a year at the culmination of each session: Fall/Winter (SeptDec) and Spring (Jan-April) and enjoys a break over the summer months. They have performed large scale concerts, singing with an orchestra, and most recently kicked off the Christmas season to an audience of nearly 800. We are delighted for the success of this group and invite residents to audition and to support us in the audience.

The chorus is directed by Karen Mabry Lewis, a veteran choral music educator from the Dallas area who obtained her BM degree with a concentration in Voice from Belmont University and a MM degree from SMU in Music Education and Vocal Performance.

If you are interested in joining the Williamson County Community Chorus or for more information including sponsorship opportunities and audition appointments, please contact Carrie Cartwright at (615) 786-0186,ext. 2519 or Carrie.Cartwright@williamsoncounty-tn.gov or visit wcparksandrec.com.

Senior Hikes & Senior Sport Trips

“TAKE A HIKE” WITH US!

Each month, we will hit some local trails to walk and hike, enjoy a golf outing, a canoe adventure, experience zip-lining and more. Participants on hikes must be able to walk independently on different types of terrain. Some places we go may have easy or more difficult experiences for seniors to choose from. You will need to provide your own snacks and water for hiking outings, and lunch may be an option offered on some sport trips. These outings are weather dependent and if we need to cancel the outing we will notify everyone as soon as possible. Departure and return times vary. The cost of a hiking outing is $3 for transportation and cost will vary on sport trips. To see a current list of activites, visit HERE.
