Join us in an apocalyptic future, one where the earth has been ravaged by a series of natural disasters. Each day, students rely on the engineering design process to solve a series of challenges such as buildi¬ng a city on a series of islands, escaping from a bunker on Mt. Everest, and even building a rocket to land on the moon! Through application of engineering principles, students solve numerous challenges as they make their virtual world of Minecraft a safe place for humanity once again. Instructor: Engineering for Kids
Engineering for Kids: Robotics 101 Stem Camp
The Robotics 101 camp, students will learn the basics of designing, programming, and controlling a fully functional robot. Engineering for Kids: Robotics - Robo Battle
Robo Battles curriculum is designed to introduce students to the world of not only building, but also programming basic robots. The challenge facing robotics engineers is that the robot knows only what is written into the program. The design of the robot must also be capable of performing the task at hand. In this unit, students will experience both the designing and programming roles of being a robotics engineer. The students will explore different ways in which a robot could be utilized to engage in various battle challenges in a less competitive environment. Lessons include, tug of war, sumo bots, tanks and more. Instructor: Engineering for Kids For more information, please contact Rachel Wahlstrom at Rachel.Wahlstrom@williamsoncounty-tn.gov ACTIVITY #

Missoula Children’s Theatre Camp: The Frog Prince The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for nearly 50 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,100 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team will arrive in Franklin in their “little red truck” loaded with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented at the end of the week (2:30pm and 7pm on Friday, June 17). Our week long day camp consists of daily activities of rehearsals, theatre workshops, crafts, and related activities. Participants should bring a sack lunch and snack daily. For the summer of 2022, we are offering The Frog Prince. Sixteen rising 1st-3rd graders and forty-four rising 4th-8th graders can register for the camp.
Synopsis of The Frog Prince: Deep in the royal swamp, a lonely Frog retrieves a golden ball for Princess Prim in exchange for friendship and comfort. The spoiled princess doesn’t want to live up to her part of the bargain and puts her royal Knights on alert. And so the trouble begins. Luckily, Frog gets some good advice from Ollie the wise old Aspen tree, the well-read Alligator, and the kindly Swamp Things. The Ducks, a busy Fly, and dancing Flamingos also come to Frog’s assistance as the Frog’s kindly servant tirelessly tries to set things right. Even the kindly Princess Proper and spunky Princess Peppy get involved and, despite the trouble caused by the mischievous Venus Fly Traps, all ends happily. Our hero becomes a Prince (formerly known as Frog) and realizes that friendships are made, not bought—and he discovers that it is not what you are but who you are that counts. Straight to the Stars Auditions: Anne of Green Gables
Straight to the Stars Youth Theatre’s summer production for 2022 will be Anne of Green Gables. Adapted from L.M. Montgomery’s beloved novel of the same name, Anne of Green Gables follows the story of the feisty orphan, Anne Shirley. Adopted from an orphanage in Nova Scotia by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, Anne Shirley’s acclimation to life in Avonlea isn’t exactly smooth sailing. The Cuthbert siblings wanted a quiet boy to help out around their farm, but instead they receive Anne, a redheaded, freckle-faced, free spirit who turns their lives upside down with her quirky behavior. Anne navigates school, friendship, and life in Avonlea in this charming coming-of-age tale. Those auditioning should refer to the website HERE for important pre-audition information and forms. Theatre
Rising Stars summer production for 2022 will be Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
