Helsinki together with cities of Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen and Lahti is the World Design Capital 2012.

The WDC Helsinki 2012 programme includes 300 projects, divided into six different themes. One half of the programme contains various development projects, represented by the themes “transforming city” and “rethinking design”. Projects based on these themes feature different forms and uses of design in a particularly broad and diverse manner. The other half of the programme includes events aimed at city residents, tourists as well as design trend-setters and professionals. These are grouped under the three themes “a year of events”, “exhibitions” and “encounters”. Design will also be highlighted through various national and international publications under the theme “communications”. In this summary, the programme is displayed as a list. You can also explore the programme in more detail at www.wdchelsinki2012.fi or in our mobile application. This programme summary is from 19 December 2011. The programmes may be subject to change.
