La música le pone color a todo, su ritmo se funde con noches y playas, por eso este mes entrevistamos a importantes artistas como son Cristian Varela, Marc Maya y Tony Varga.
Music is everywhere, its rhythm fuses with the night and its beaches, which is why this month we’ve interviewed important artists like Cristian Varela, Marc Maya and Tony Varga.
Ibizart será una vez más la encargada de acercarnos a las ultimas tendencias artísticas, sin olvidarnos tampoco de temas que nos preocupan, como es la descontrolada especulación con la vivienda de alquiler, un problema que ya está generando movimientos ciudadanos en busca de soluciones.
Ibizart will once again bring us the latest artistic trends, but we will also look into other pressing issues that concern us, such as the uncontrolled speculation on rental homes, a problem that is already generating a civil movement in search of solutions.

UN NUEVO CONCEPTO DE BOAT PARTIES OBSESIONADOS CON LA SATISFACCIÓN DE LOS CLIENTES No podríamos hablar de Ibiza sin mencionar sus ya legendarias fiestas en barco “BOAT PARTY”, y quien mejor para informarnos de ellas que los chicos de WHY NOT IBIZA, premiados el año pasado como “EVENTO MARíTIMO EXCLUSIVO MEJOR VALORADO” respaldado por la satisfacción de sus clientes y otorgado por nuestra propia revista WEAREIBIZAMAGAZINE.
¿QUÉ ES WHY NOT IBIZA? Creamos WHY NOT IBIZA como un nuevo concepto de “forma de vida”. Abanderada con la actitud continua de superación de nuevos retos y experiencias con los mismos valores que reflejan sus propias palabras. Hemos sentido la necesidad de crear algo nuevo, paralelo al resto de actividades en barcos en cuya mayoría su única intención es el máximo beneficio económico a corto plazo, desinteresándose por la satisfacción de los clientes, atrayéndolos con marketing exageradamente monótono con frases muy populistas y subjetivas como “La mejor fiesta” o “La más grande”. Marketing de propia sobrevaloración que luego no refleja en muchas ocasiones respecto al trato que se le dan a los clientes. Nuestra intención no es ser “la mejor” fiesta, ya que ni siquiera creemos en esos juicios tan subjetivos, ni tampoco la fiesta de “gente guapa” o “la más grande”, de hecho creemos que cuanto mayor sea la fiesta, mas complicado será dar un trato cercano y humano con cada uno de nuestros clientes, por lo que utilizamos barcos de media capacidad para asegurar a nuestros clientes comodidad, exclusividad, cercanía y sobre todo, un trato más “humano”. Nuestra obsesión no es el máximo beneficio económico a corto plazo y a toda costa, sino la satisfacción de nuestros clientes como objetivo prioritario por encima de cualquier otro, y hacer que todos y cada uno sientan que ha merecido la pena la confianza depositada en nosotros y que se vayan con un recuerdo inolvidable de la isla, ya que consideramos que no hay mejor marketing que unos clientes satisfechos con los servicios ofrecidos.

Vivo Gal Grabby ISi tenemos la suerte de encontrar a Vivo Gal Grabby, ese genio nos puede demostrar una buena gama de artes. Y no son en primer lugar artes coleccionadas –aunque también sabe percibir y apoyar artes ajenas con empatía– sino tales creadas por él mismo. Primero está comprometido en el arte de vivir. Nacido en Bulgaria, ha viajado mucho por la Tierra. Y ahora vive en Ibiza donde se siente en casa y practica varias de sus artes. Fundó la Asociación “Juntos en Ibiza” cuyo presidente es actualmente, una asociación sin ánimo de lucro, dedicada al arte. El propósito de la asociación es fomentar a los artistas de la isla. A menudo está activo de pintor con óleo y acrílico. Más de 4000 obras ha creado hasta ahora, algunos se encuentran en museos búlgaros y turcos, en museos de Nueva York, Praga y otras ciudades. Pero uno de sus mayores logros es que en 2001 una obra suya fue lanzada al espacio con un cohete, junto a otras obras de arte. ¿Habrá algún ser allí que sepa disfrutar de esa obra?

He founded the association “Juntos en Ibiza” (“Together on Ibiza”), the president of which he is at the moment, a nonprofit association, dedicated to art. The association’s purpose is to support the island’s artists. a He is often active as a painter with oil and acryl. So far he has created more than 4000 works, some of them found in Bulgarian and Turk museums, in museums of New York, Prague and other cities. But one of his greatest successes is that in 2001 a work of his was sent into space in a rocket, together with some other works of art. Might there be a being that knows to enjoy that work? He is also one of the pioneers in body art. The artistic eye perceives the people’s skins as though they were canvases and fills them with colours. No-poison colours, of course. They do not come off with water but if someone wants them to come off, it is easy with olive oil.

cristian varela Artista polifacético y con una larga trayectoria profesional que deja en tu curriculum señas como, Dj, productor, compositor, promotor y empresario.¿Con cual de estas atribuciones te sientes mas identificado en este momento? CV: Con todas, pero en especial con las de compositor y DJ. Sin duda, como uno de los grandes embajadores españoles del Techno, eres principalmente conocido por la música electrónica, pero tus trabajos abarcan un espectro mucho mas amplio. ¿Qué otras obras musicales fuera del mundo de la electrónica te definen mejor como artista? CV: Sobre todo el tema principal que tuve el honor de componer para la obra de Vargas Llosa “Ojos Bonitos” que se adaptó para Teatro con el gran actor Manolo Tejada. También estoy especialmente contento con el tema “La Pedrea” de la película “El Clavo De Oro” de uno nuestros mejores directores españoles, Antonio Del Real, y que fue emitida en Telemadrid. Próximamente se emitirá también en TVE. Pero sin duda dónde más me siento reflejado es en mi último trabajo experimental, que está teniendo muy buenas críticas, Varela Concept. Desde tus comienzos en la música electrónica tanto como Dj o como productor, la manera de hacer música y los directos han variado mucho al ritmo que evolucionaba la tecnología. ¿Qué medios utilizas actualmente para desarrollar tus creaciones? CV: Desde hace muchos años para mezcla y mastering utilizo Pro Tools, para crear me siento muy cómodo con Logic y para hacer directos Ableton Live es una buena herramienta. ¿Qué nuevas tecnologías te gusta más incorporar a tus directos? CV: En mis directos como DJ siempre me gusta combinar la tecnología de los cdj2000 Nexus y la Djm900 Nexus de Pioneer con mis queridos platos Technics, aunque tengo muchas ganas de probar los Pioneer. También estoy introduciendo desde hace varios años el sistema táctil EMULATOR y algunas veces, aunque muy pocas, Traktor, a pesar de ser el primer artista que hizo la presentación del primer prototipo de Final Scratch (actual Traktor) en España en Sonar. Para mis directos utilizo siempre gente tocando en directo y, por supuesto, a mí me encanta tocar los sintetizadores acompañado de mis pantallas táctiles de Emulator. Tu sello Pornographic Recordings cumple 15 años. ¿Qué eventos figuran en tu agenda para conmemorar este aniversario?

CV:De momento hemos comenzado en Paris 15 (Málaga) y WOW (Granada), pero estamos confirmando grandes fechas a nivel mundial para este 2015 con un montón de artistas del sello. Coincidiendo con la celebración del decimoquinto aniversario de tu sello, has publicado una serie conmemorativa de 4 volúmenes. ¿Qué parte de la esencia de Pornographic Recordings has querido capturar y transmitir con estos trabajos? CV:Siempre he buscado los sonidos profundos, contundentes, conservando el alma del Techno y por supuesto luchando por el más puro sonido underground.
primera vez en Ibiza un Back to Back los 2 juntos. Creo que es la primera vez que Carl hizo un b2b con alguien, o si no de las primeras, y fue sencillamente espectacular. Hasta el punto de que todos los años que he pinchado con él lo hemos repetido y según el propio público han sido de las mejores y más feroces sesiones que se han escuchado en mucho tiempo. Incluso tanto él como yo lo comentamos en varias entrevistas y por supuesto es para mí todo un orgullo que alguien como él valore tanto mi trabajo como Dj así como productor. Próximamente además saldrá mi nuevo álbum en su gran sello INTEC. A nivel internacional. ¿Qué evento recuerdas con especial cariño? Has contado para ello con nombres tan relevantes dentro de la música electrónica como Carl Cox, Marco Bailey, Uto Karem o Ken Ishii entre otros. ¿Que ha aportado este intercambio de estilos a la identidad de Pornographic Recordings? CV:Muchísima riqueza. El Techno actualmente es muy variado y goza de una salud inmejorable. Creo que la combinación de los mejores representantes de cada vertiente que tiene el Techno actual ha dado un recopilatorio maravilloso para este 15 aniversario de Pornographic Rec.
CV:Sin ninguna duda mi primera actuación en Japón. Fué en el mítico club Liquid Room de Tokyo en el año 2000 y por primera vez un DJ hacía un set especial a 4 platos. Jamás olvidaré ese club abarrotado con un público inmejorable y la sensación de estar completamente en otro planeta.
Varela Concept es algo nuevo que va mas allá del usual proyecto musical. ¿Podrías explicarnos en que consiste esta nueva manera de expresarte? CV:Es una mezcla de todos los conocimientos musicales que he ido estudiando y aprendiendo a lo largo de estos casi 30 años de carrera como compositor y 24 como DJ. Con este trabajo intento hacer un llamamiento a las personas más sensibles para intentar proteger a nuestro planeta y todas las especies que vivimos en él. Hay muchas personas que ya se han dado cuenta del daño atroz que está haciendo el ser humano a nuestra verdadera casa, LA TIERRA, pero lamentablemente quedan todavía muchísimas otras que por dejadez o simple egoísmo no quieren ser conscientes de que si cada uno pusiésemos nuestro granito de arena, podríamos salvar un montón de especies en extinción e incluso hacer cosas inimaginables. Nunca es tarde. Tu relación con la isla blanca estará sin duda cargada de actuaciones memorables y grandes set´s pero. ¿Podrías nombrar una actuación que haya dejado un recuerdo especialmente imborrable en tu memoria? CV:Sin ninguna duda el primer año que Carl Cox me invitó a sus sesiones de Carl Cox & Friends en Space en 2006. Mi actuación fue justo antes de su cierre y él mismo me invitó al final a hacer por

With which one of these attributions do you feel more identified in this moment? CV-With all of them, but especially with the composer and dj ones. As you are, certainly, one of the great Spanish Ambassador of Techno music, you are primarily known for electronic music, even if your works embrace a wider spectrum Which other works define you better as an artist outside the world of electronic music? CV-Especially i had the honour of composing for the Vargas Llosa’s work “Ojos Bonitos” that has been adapted for theatre with the great actor Manolo Tejada. I’m also pleased with the work “La Pedrea” of the film “El Clavo de Oro” directed by one of our best Spanish directors, Antonio Del Real, and transmitted by Telemadrid. Soon, will be broadcasted from TVE. But certainly I see a better reflection of myself in my last experimental work, that is receiving many good reviews, Valera Concept. Since the beginning of your debut in electronic music, like as Dj or a producer, the way to make music and the lives have been changed a lot at the pace of technology. What kind of systems do you currently use to develop your creations? CV-For many years I have been using Pro Tools for mixing and mastering. For creation I feel more confortable with Logic, and Ableton Live is a great tool forlives. Which new technology would you like to add to your lives? CV-As Dj I always like mixing in my lives the technology of cdj2000 Nexus and Djm900 Nexus of Pioneer with my dear plates Technics, even if I am looking forward to try the Pioneers ones. Also, since many years ago, I’m introduced the touch system EMULATOR. Sometimes, although very rarely, I introduceTraktor., despite being the first artist that made the presentation of the first prototype of the Final Scratch (currently Traktor) in the Sonar festival in Spain. Your label Pornographic Recordings is celebrating 15 years. What kind of events are listed in your schedule to celebrate this anniversary? CV-For the time of being we started in Paris 15 (Malaga) and WOW (Granada), but we are confirming great dates worldwide for this 2015 with lots of artists of the label. During the celebration of the 15th anniversary of your label, you have published a 4 volume memorial series Which part of the essence of Pornographic Recordings did you want to capture and transmit through these works?

CV-I always look for deep, powerful sounds, keeping the Techno soul and of course fighting for the most pure underground sound. This has been done in cooperation with some of the eminent names of the electronic music world as Carl Cox, Bailey, Uto Karem or Ken Ishii, among others. What has this exchange of styles provided to the identity of Pornographic Recordings? CV-Lot of wealth . Nowadays the Techno music is very varied and is in a very good shape. I think that the combination of the best representatives of each strand that the contemporary Techno music must have, gave a wonderful compilation for this 15th anniversary of Pornographic Rec. Varela Concept is something new that goes beyond the usual music project. Can you please describe us your new way of expresión? CV-Is a mix of all the music knowledge I have studied and learnt in almost 30 years of career as composer and 24 as Dj. Through this job I try to appeal to the more sensitive people trying to protect our planet and all of species living in it. There are lot of people that have realized how much damage is caused by the human being to our home, THE EARTH, but unfortunately many others don’t want to be aware due to slackness or egoism. If everyone can do his part, we can save lots of endangered species included doing unthinkable things. Never is too late. Your relationship with the white island will be , certainly, charged of memorable performances but.. Can you name one performance that has left you an unforgettable memory in your mind? CV-Certainly the first year that Carl Cox invited me to one of his Carl Cox & Friends sessions in the Space discotheque in 2006. My performance was just before his closure and he himself invited me to do a Back to Back together for the first time. I think that was the first time that Carl did a b2b with someone, or even if it wasn’t the first time, it was amazing. To the point of repeating every year every time I was mixing with him and according to the public they have been the best and the strongest session that have been heard in a long time. Included he and I mentioned it in different magazines and of course it’s a pleasure for me that someone like him values my job as Dj also as a producer. Soon, also my new album will go on sale under the INTEC label. On an international level. Which event do you remember especially? CV-Without doubt my first performance in Japan. It took place in the mythical Liquid Room of Tokyo in 2000 and a Dj was doing a special performance with 4 plates for the first time. I will never forget that crowded club with its great public and the feeling of being on a different planet

Comienza la temporada y como cada año miles de personas viajan a Ibiza para disfrutar de un entorno mágico y tranquilo, unas playas espectaculares, buenos restaurantes, fiestas nocturnas, hoteles de lujo, etc. Pero conseguir la “Ibiza vacacional” tiene un precio... Personas que también vienen a esta isla en busca de trabajo. Muchos de ellos ya son asiduos y otros vienen por primera vez en busca de una oportunidad para ganarse la vida, pero no solo se encuentran con la difícil tarea de buscar trabajo si no lo que es más complicado, encontrar una vivienda. Cada vez la vivienda se está convirtiendo en un bien muy cotizado, alquileres en los cuales te piden la mitad de un sueldo o incluso un sueldo completo. Frecuentemente vemos en periódicos, internet y demás medios de comunicación anuncios de pisos con unos precios abusivos que con la excusa de temporada incrementan el precio tres o cuatro veces más de su valor inicial, pidiendo unas fianzas ilegales y unos requisitos que la mayoría de la gente que viene a hacer temporada no puede afrontar. Esta situación se ha ido agravando a lo largo de los años, y cada vez son más las personas que se aprovechan e

incluso se hacen pasar por “falsas inmobiliarias” cobrando una comisión que suele ser similar al importe total de la cuantía del alquiler, además de los varios meses de fianza que piden. Todo esto se mueve como un circulo vicioso, “si mi vecino le saca a su piso este dinero yo también podría” “si alquilo el piso por semanas y meto mas camas en todas la habitaciones podría incrementar los beneficios” estos son algunos de los pensamientos que a muchos propietarios se les pasa por la cabeza y todo esto tiene su efecto negativo. La mayoría no se puede permitir pagar en los meses de verano un incremento del coste del alquiler, por eso muchos funcionarios y personas que consiguen un trabajo para todo el año deciden marcharse a otros destinos donde los alquileres no sean tan abusivos. Por eso mientras esto siga así y no cambien las cosas, cada vez la vida en la isla será más complicada. Hay que empezar a pensar más en las personas que vienen en busca de esa oportunidad y dejar de aprovecharse tanto de la gente que viene a disfrutar de unas vacaciones en paz y tranquilidad.

Aquí estamos! Una vez más, las aperturas están ya encima y la magia a punto de comenzar. Los platos se encienden, y los Djs se apiñan en las cabinas. Los openings de las discotecas de Ibiza son una cita fundamental en el panorama de la escena electronica internacional, marcan el comienzo de una nueva temporada en la cual los Djs productores más importantes, marcarán las tendencias musicales que se escucharán a lo largo del verano. Es una fecha especial ya que viene gente desde todos los puntos del planeta a pasarlo bien y disfrutar de la música. Como de costumbre, las aperturas más sonadas este año serán las de Circoloco en DC10, Space, Amnesia y Ushuaia. Todo comenzó a finales de los años 70, cuando aparecieron los grandes clubes de la isla como Pacha, Space, Amnesia, Ku(ahora Privilege) al mismo tiempo la jet set se mezcló con el espíritu hippie de la isla. Y ni se imaginaban dónde estaban a punto de meterse; el comienzo de un frenesí de música electrónica sin fin, y un inexplorado territorio donde celebrar la vida y la libertad. En los 90, el house tomó el predominio de la escena hasta nuestros días . El público ha evolucionado y las salas se han vuelto más abarrotadas. Vivimos ahora en un ambiente más mediático, donde los móviles, las cámaras y la publicidad están muy presentes. Pero, por encima de todo ello, el mismo espíritu de diversión se abre camino. Así que prepárate para disfrutar de la nueva temporada ibicenca que está a punto de comenzar.

Ibiza opening is a fundamental appoitment in the international electronic music scene, where producer djs come up with the musical tendecy you will be turning your head with for the entire summer. People from over the world stop by and enjoy this sensational event. As usual, the much talked-about opening parties will be Circoloco at DC10, Space, Amnesia and Ushuaia. It all started in the late 70´s, when the big clubs of the island came up, and the jet set came across in the same room with the hippie spirit. And they had no idea what they were about to walk in to; the beginning of a non stop electronic music frenzy, and an uncharted territory to celebrate life and freedom. In the 90´s, House music took control of the scene until nowadays. The audience has evolved, and the legendary big clubs have become crowded. We live now under a social media environment. Lots of smart phones, lots of marketing and lots of hype. But above all that, the same old spirit finds a way. So be ready to enjoy the upcoming season on the white island.

Si efectivamente, SHOME es mi nuevo proyecto. Nació el verano pasado en ibiza, donde reflejo mi vida a través de la música, donde plasmo toda la experiencia adquirida durante los últimos años.

Actualmente estas produciendo ya tu propio sonido, cuéntanos, ¿qué estas haciendo?
Este año voy a sacar mis primeras producciones, he firmado ya varios tracks y EP´s en diferentes label´s como Qanun Ibiza, 73 Muzzik, White Drum Spain o Stage En tan solo 4 años de carrera Records donde destaco el EP ya tiene una larga experiencia Platja D´en Bossa (73 Muzzik), en cabinas donde a día de hoy o Everybody (Stage Records) a pinchado en Ibiza, Madrid o que estará incluido en un VA de Barcelona. el SONAR en Barcelona a parte de varias colaboraciones con Tiene 25 años y lo cierto es que no grandes artistas de la escena recuerda bien la primera vez que como Andrés Pesqueira (Fresh04 se incorporo en la música, a los 4 Records) o Iwaro & New Maik con años ya estaba probando diferentes los que he hecho un track a 112 instrumentos siendo tan grande de Bpm cantado en francés. su pasión por la música que a día de hoy sabe tocar, la percusión, el ¿Cómo describirías tu sonido? piano y diferentes instrumentos de viento. Has pinchado ya en diferentes eventos de Ibiza, como el Nine (Eivissa), Amsterdam Underground (San Antonio) o Skyline (Platja d´en Bossa), ¿Qué planes tienes para esta temporada? Ahora mismo estoy muy metido en la producción como dije anteriormente y con varias actuaciones que las iré desvelando por las redes sociales. ¡Estad atentos!

Marc Maya & toni varga -Vamos a empezar por orden, ya que os habéis recorrido medio mundo haciendo bailar a la gente en este 2015. ¿Qué tal se lleva eso de viajar poniendo música prácticamente sin descanso? Toni Varga- La verdad es que es algo que te tiene que gustar de verdad. Debes amar viajar y este estilo de vida; si no, mas que un placer, se convierte en un problema. Yo tengo la suerte de trabajar en lo que me gusta, me considero muy afortunado y el cansancio es solo un mal menor. Marc Maya- Bueno la verdad es que bien, por suerte esto es una pasión que de momento me sigue llenado mucho. Saber que después de cada avión hay gente esperando para verte es una satisfacción muy grande. Eso me da muchas fuerzas en todas las partes difíciles de este trabajo como puede ser el tema de los aviones y dormir poco por las conexiones de vuelo. -Primero el BPM Festival en enero donde prácticamente todos los grandes artistas y promotores se han dado cita en Playa Del Carmen, México. BPM se ha consolidado como uno de los festivales mas potentes internacionalmente hablando. ¿Qué creéis que lo hace diferente? MM- ¡BPM es la bomba! Sin duda alguna , creo que una de las cosas más importantes por lo que es tan especial y diferente son las magnificas localizaciones que se pueden encontrar para hacer los diferentes showcases. Y esto acompañado por una mezcla entre europeos, americanos y nativos. TV- Sin duda para mi hay dos factores principales que han convertido a BPM en uno de los festivales referentes en el mundo. El primero es la localización, en un paraíso natural como es la zona de Playa de Carmen, con lugares realmente únicos para hacer eventos diferentes como los cenotes, o los clubs perdidos en medio de la selva..... este toque “salvaje” le da un aura especial y diferente al resto de festivales. Por otro lado, esta la fecha. Enero es el mes en que la mayoría de

artistas nos cogemos vacaciones para desconectar un poco, y BPM se ha convertido ya en el lugar perfecto para que artistas de todo el mundo vayan a tocar y después se queden disfrutando de las bonitas playas y paisajes un par de semanas de relax. La verdad es un gran modo de empezar el año. -Ultra Music Festival ha sido en febrero vuestro escenario en Sudáfrica y habéis sido los representantes de la música electrónica nacional en el país africano. ¿Qué acogida a tenido vuestro enérgico estilo entre el público sudafricano? MM- Realmente ha tenido una buena acogida. Ya hace seis o siete años que pinchamos por Sudáfrica y la verdad que tenemos nuestros seguidores por allí. TV- Pues la verdad es que estamos enamorados de Sudáfrica, llevamos ya unos años yendo a tocar en festivales como Ultra, Origin Festival o fiestas de club y nos encanta su gente, siempre nos tratan genial. Ya tenemos nuestra
poco los problemas o las rutinas de la semana. Nuestro trabajo es hacer que la gente disfrute. Nos debemos a ellos y ellos nos recompensan con su energía y sus sonrisas -Toni, el lanzamiento de tu nuevo EP Speed Of Sound junto a Richard Cleber defiende tu buena forma como productor. ¿A qué publico va dirigido tu nuevo trabajo? TV- Bueno no soy fan de catalogar la música (ni la que hago ni la que toco), no me gusta encasillarme, me gusta tocar música de calidad ( sea mas deep, tech house o mas techno). Y a la hora de producir me pasa exactamente lo mismo. No me gusta encasillarme como productor de tal o cual estilo, para este publico o para el otro. Yo me siento en el estudio y dejo que la inspiración fluya. A veces salen cosas un poco mas oscuras o techno y otras veces un poco mas tech. Lo importante para mí es que sean trabajos de calidad. -Marc, tú completas este EP aportando una de las tres remezclas del track. ¿Qué matiz has querido conferir al tema original con tu toque? Básicamente he intentado hacer una remezcla que fuera actual y que estuviera dentro de mi estilo, que es más Techno. Como siempre he tirado de bombo bajo y agresivo, mis hit-hats y rides ; y luego los sonidos de Toni y Richard Cleber que ya de por sí eran bastante chulos. Marc, ¿Cómo ha sido tu paso por el Extrema Outdoor Festival en Bélgica? ¡¡Increíble festival!! Mucha personalidad a la hora de montar los escenarios , por lo que el festival respiraba una identidad propia. Animaría a ir a muchos de mis seguidores porque son tres días para disfrutar de algo diferente. La fiesta de apertura de Space inaugura para vosotros una nueva temporada de actuaciones en Ibiza. ¿Qué es lo que mas os gusta de Ibiza ¿Cuando tenéis tiempo para disfrutar de los placeres de la isla blanca?
pequeña familia de amigos allí y la verdad nos sentimos como en casa. Además ellos disfrutan con nuestra música un poco mas “techno” de lo que es lo normal por esa zona. Estamos encantados y creemos que ellos también -De Egipto a Nueva Caledonia. ¿Qué tienen en común las dunas del desierto, las playas del sur del Pacífico y el Row? MM- Bueno la verdad es que no tienen mucho en común pero lo que sí puedo asegurar es que en los dos sitios la fiesta Row tiene una gran acogida, también me gustaría resaltar que en los dos sitios la energía de la gente que esta en la pista de baile es increíble: chillidos, manos arriba y ¡más gritos!! ¡Me encanta esa locura! TV- El punto en común entre estos lugares y el Row no es otro que las ganas de diversión de la gente, al final son países muy distantes y diferentes entre sí, pero hay algo que es común en casi todas partes y son esas ganas de la gente de ser feliz, (aunque solo sea por unas horas), pasárselo bien y olvidar un
MM- Ibiza siempre es especial para mi. Son muchos los veranos vividos allí desde que tenia 18 años así que siempre estoy esperando a que empiece la temporada. Lo que mas me gusta de Ibiza es la mezcla cultural que puedes encontrar en la isla y la gran exposición que esto supone como artista. Casi siempre si el trabajo lo permite, me encanta quedarme unos días en la isla para disfrutar de sus playas y restaurantes. TV- Lo que más me gusta de Ibiza es sin duda su gente. Esa mezcla de razas y culturas llegadas desde todo el mundo con una finalidad común: la diversión. La energía que se siente tan solo aterrizar en Ibiza es única. No hay otro lado en el mundo igual, por eso me gusta tanto. Por desgracia muchas veces no tengo tiempo de disfrutar de ella como me gustaría, ya que normalmente llegas a Ibiza cansado de algún otro bolo el sábado, pinchas en Space y posiblemente el domingo ya te tengas que ir para otro lado. Suelen ser visitas breves, eso sí, muy intensas y divertidas. (Risas) -¿Qué significa para vosotros la residencia del Row en la main room de Space? TV- Ha sido un gran paso tanto para la marca Row como para sus artistas, tener residencia en uno de los clubs mas laureados del mundo es un sueño hecho realidad. MM- ¡Exacto! Un sueño hecho realidad

ibizamagazine interview -Let’s start by order. As you have travelled half the world making people dance during this 2015, What about traveling and playing music without breaks? Toni Varga-To be honest, is something that you have to like to do. You should love traveling and this lifestyle; if not, should be a problem. I have the advantage that my work pleases me, I’m very lucky and the tiredness is only the lesser evil. Marc Maya-Well, the truth is that it’s all ok. Fortunately this is my passion and till this moment fills me. Knowing that after each flight there are people waiting to come and see me, is a great satisfaction. This gives me the strenght for all the hard parts of this job, For example the topic of the flights and insufficient sleep among them. -First of all the BPM festival on January, where all the great artist and promoters have met in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. BPM has been consolidated as one of the most powerful festivals , internationally speaking. What makes it different? MM-BPM is amazing! without any doubt, I think is one of the most important ones. What makes it so special and different is the incredible locations that you can find for the different showcases. And this coupled with a mix between europeans, americans and locals. TV-Certainly, in my opinion there are two main factors that have made BPM as one of the festivals leader in the world. The first thing is the locations , in a natural paradise as the area of Playa de Carmen, with unique places for different events as the cenotes, or clubs lost in the middle of the jungle… this “wild” touch gives it a special and different aura than other festivals. By other hand, the date. January is the month when most of the artists take holiday to disconnect a little bit, and BPM has already become in a perfect place where the artist from all the world can go and play and after can stay and enjoy the beaches and landscapes a couple of relaxing weeks. The truth is that is the best way to start the year. -Ultra Music Festival has been your stage on February in South Africa and you have been the national electronic music’s representative of this African country. What about the welcome of your energetic style among the South African public? MM-It was really a nice welcoming. For 6 or 7 years now we have played all around South Africa and the truth is that we have our followers there. TV-Well, we are in love with South Africa, we have played there for some years in festivals as Ultra, Origin Festival for club parties and we like its people. They always treat us very well. We already have a little family of friends there and in my opinion we feel at home. They also enjoy our music alittle bit more “techno” than usual in that area. We are delighted and we believe them too. -From Egypt to New Caledonia, What do the desert dunes have in common with the beaches of the South Pacific and the Row? MM-The truth is that they don’t have much in common but I can assure that the party Row has a great welcome in the two places. Also I would like to highlight that in both of the places the energy of the people dancing is incredible: squeals, hands ups and more screams! I love this madness!

TV-The common link between these places and the Row is people joining. At the end these are different and distant countries between them, but there is something in common in almost of the places as feeling happy, (if only for a couple of hours), enjoying and forgetting a little bit the problems or the weekly routine. Our job is getting them to enjoy. We owe ourselves to them and they reward us with their energy and smile. -Toni, the launch of your new EP Speed of Sound with Richard Cleber supports your great way such as producer. To whom is the new job addressed to? TV-Well, I’m not a fan of categorizing music (neither about the music I play). I don’t want to be typecast, I like playing music of quality (as more deep, techno house or more techno). And the same thing happens exactly to me while I’m producing. I don’t like categorizing as a producer in this or that style, for this public or another one. I sit down in the studio and I let the inspiration flowing. The music sometimes is more dark or techno and other times a little bit more tech. The most important thing for me is that the jobs will be of high quality. -Marc, you complete this EP providing one of the 3 remixes of the track. Which kind of matrix did you give to the original theme with your own personal touch? MM-Basically I tried to make a current remix style and that should be in my style, that is more Techno. As usual I’ve empowered the bass, my hit-hats and rides, after the sounds of Toni and Richard Cleber , which were already enough. -Marc, How was your step to the Extrema Outdoor Festival in Belgium? MM-Incredible festival! Lot of personality during the setting of the stages, so you can breath the festival identity. I encourage the most of my followers to go because you can experience something different during 3 days. -The Space opening party opens for you a new season of performances in Ibiza. What do you like most of Ibiza? When do you have time for enjoying the pleasure of the White Island? MM-For me Ibiza is always special. I lived here many summers since I was 18 years old. So I’m always waiting for the opening season. What I like about Ibiza is the cultural mix that you can find around the island and the exposure involved for me as an artist. When the agenda allows it, I love staying a couple of days in the Island enjoying the beaches and the restaurants. TV-What I like about Ibiza is certainly the people. Is a mix of races and cultures from all the world with a common purpose: fun. The energy that you can feel just landing in Ibiza is unique. There is not another place similar in the world. So I love it. Unfortunately I don’t have much time to enjoy it as I would like to do. Usually I arrive in Ibiza very tired because of another flight the last Saturday. I mix in Space and probably I should go to another place on Sunday. Usually these are short visits, but intense and very fun! (laughs) -What does it mean for you the Row residence in the Space main room? TV-It was a great step for both for the label Row and its artists, to have the residence in one of the most awarded of the world is a dream come true. MM-Exactly! A dream come true.
