An enormous variety of people from everywhere, different cultures, religions, and ages come together to Ibiza to enjoy of the magnificent beaches, hearing the best dj’s at the best discos all over the world. It’s time to eat the famous Mediterranean food in Ibiza.
Pero Ibiza no es solo eso, esta isla tiene una gran historia, tiene mucho arte y en este número de WE ARE IBIZA MAGAZINE os mostraremos un poco de todo eso. Este mes entrevistamos a una de las dj del momento como es tINI, también conocimos a otro dj que se esta abriendo camino y viene desde hace tiempo atrás pegando fuerte, él es Barem. En este número nos desplazamos a Formentera para intentar plasmar la belleza natural de esta pequeña isla, que pese al turismo y a lo largo de los años conserva ese encanto salvaje. Os mostraremos también una de las mejores calas y privilegiadas de Ibiza, Punta Galera. Ibizart un mes más nos trae el arte de Ibiza, a manos de la fotografa Paula G, el Rol Art Works y Exagonal Awareness. Asistimos al desfile de moda con la firma de Roberto Verino que se celebró en el hotel “Destino” con la presencia de las modelos María José Soares y Lorena Van Heerde. Formentera, el último paraíso del MediterrÁneo. No son tantos los kilómetros que nos separan del Caribe. Y es que Formentera representa el último paraíso del Mediterráneo y muchos la apodan el Caribe del Mare Nostrum. Cada día cientos y cientos de turistas llegan a Ibiza para navegar en ferry los 4 kilómetros que la separan de la “hermana” Pitiusa. El bullicio de la isla blanca contrasta con la tranquilidad de Formentera.
Formentera, THE LAST PARADISE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA. We are not too far of the Caribbean. Formentera represents the last Mediterranean paradise and lot of people called it the Caribbean of the Mare Nostrum. Every day hundreds and hundreds of tourists come to Ibiza to sail the 4 kilometres that separate it from the “sister” Pitiusa. A
Con algo más de 5.000 habitantes, Formentera es una isla con tan solo 80 kilómetros de superficie terrestre. Es pequeña pero su historia demuestra que fue un lugar estratégico para los conquistadores. 4.000 años de historia se reflejan en los yacimientos romanos del campamento de Can Blai. Ya en el siglo XIII, tanto Ibiza como Formentera fueron conquistadas por tropas catalanas. Las influencias moriscas también se hacen notar en el folclore. Más cercanos a la actualidad, ya en siglo XX, los hippies llegaron a la isla en los años 70 y su legado todavía perdura en la moda, las joyas y la artesanía.
With just over 5,000 population, Formentera is an island with only 80 kilometres of land area. It is small but its history shows that it was a strategic location for the conquerors. 4,000 years of history are reflected in the Roman camp of Can Blai. Already in the thirteenth century, both Ibiza and Formentera were conquered by Catalan troops. Moorish influences also are noted in the folklore. Closer to the present, in the twentieth century, hippies came to the island in the 70s and his legacy still lives on the fashion, jewellery and crafts.

Y no es para menos tantos cuidados, pues Formentera fue condecorada en 1999 con el distintivo de Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.

n island that is not only known for its white sand beaches and turquoise waters, but because the island has managed to combine tourism, now gradually crowded during the summer months, with the protection of the environment. And no wonder why all this care, as Formentera was honoured in 1999 with the distinction of World Heritage by UNESCO.
Otros habitantes de la isla son muy pequeños y muy rápidos. Son lo que conocemos como lagartijas, pero se llama Sangrantanes y han poblado la isla desde tiempos inmemoriales. Si veis alguna no intentéis cazarla o incluso pisarla, son inofensivos y además están protegidos por ley. Sus playas sin duda son el mejor reclamo: La posidonia es el elemento que crea un mar cristalino. Esa gran selva submarina permite una limpieza natural del agua. Las playas de Es Trocadors y de Ses Illetes son dos puntos que poco tienen que envidiar a las playas caribeñas. Delante de estas playas hay dos pequeñas islas llamadas .S’Espalmador y S’Espardell. Si tenemos suerte y el mar está tranquilo como un lago, no será muy difícil llegar a pié, ya que no hay casi profundidad. En este punto, nos espera vigilante la torre de Sa Guardiola, una torre de vigilancia del siglo XVIII que ahora está restaurada. La ventaja de Formentera es que todo está muy cerca. Desde Sa Guardiola llegamos rápidamente a la playa de Ses Illetes, esta está más masificada por los turistas de todo tipo. Para terminar bien un día largo de playa, lo conveniente sería irse al sur y gozar de una maravillosa puesta de sol desde Es Arenals sobre el gran manto blanco que es su arena. Aunque para divisar un precioso paisaje solo basta subir 200 metros de altura, en el Pilar de La Mola y contemplar exhaustos toda la isla de Formentera, Ibiza y el horizonte que nos hará viajar hasta el infinito y más allá.
Other kind of population of the island is very small and very fast. They are what we know as lizards, but they are the so-called Sangrantanes and they have lived in the island from immemorial times. If you see one of them do not try to catch it or even underfoot it, as they are inoffensive and are also protected by law. From Sa Guardiola we quickly reached Ses Illetes Illetas beach is more crowded by tourists of all kinds. To finish well a long day of beach how convenient it would go south and enjoy a wonderful sunset from Es Arenals on the great white cloak that is sand. Although to spot a beautiful landscape just enough climbing 200 meters high, Pillar of La Mola and look exhausted the entire island of Formentera, Ibiza and the horizon that will make us travel to infinity and beyond.

Lavazza, la conocida marca de espresso italiano de alta gastronomía, presentó en Ibiza el pasado lunes 22 de Julio su nueva carta de cocktails que contienen como ingrediente estrella el café frío. El gin tonic de café y el Ice capuccino fueron algunas de las novedades principales que se pudieron degustar en el Lavazza Fashion Event que tuvo lugar en el recién inaugurado Destino Ibiza Resort. Con este evento, Lavazza se propuso seducir los cinco sentidos mediante muestras de música, moda de alto nivel, degustación de las últimas recetas de café y la presencia de numerosas celebrities que representan el espíritu festivo, mediterráneo y lujoso de Ibiza. El Lavazza Fashion Event fue organizado por Ibiza Model Awards, Art & Fashion XXL, Ricardo Garriga y Fernando Link. Las actividades programadas tuvieron lugar desde las 17h hasta pasada la medianoche. En el Lavazza Fashion Event, Roberto Verino presentó el desfile de moda de alto nivel Cibeles Fashion Show, al que dieron forma las modelos María José Soares y Lorena Van Herdee, además del equipo de Ibiza Models Awards. También actuó la banda liderada por el músico iraní Bahramji Pourmand con cinco shows de performance en simultáneo. Pusieron ritmo a la fiesta los reconocidos Dj Javigreen, residente de Destino, Mónica Mira, Anna Tur y Alex Kennon.
Lavazza, the well-known espresso brand of Italian haute cuisine, introduced in Ibiza on Monday July 22 its new cocktail menu containing star ingredient cold coffee. The Gin Tonic coffee and the Ice cappuccino were some of the major developments that could be enjoyed in the Lavazza Fashion Event held at the newly opened Destino Ibiza Resort. With this event, Lavazza wanted to seduce the senses using alive music, high fashion, the latest coffee’s recipes and the presence of many celebrities that represent the luxurious holyday Mediterranean spirit of Ibiza. The Lavazza Fashion Event was organized by Ibiza Model Awards, Art & Fashion XXL, Ricardo Garriga and Fernando Link. Scheduled activities were held from 17h until after midnight. In Fashion Event Lavazza, Roberto Verino presented the high level fashion show called Cibeles Fashion Show , with models as Maria José Soares and Lorena Van Herdee , also with the team Ibiza Models Awards. There were a performance: a vibrant band leading by Bahramji Pourmand (Iranian musician) which played five shows simultaneously. The rhythm to the party was brought by Javigreen (Dj resident of Destino), Monica Look, Anna Tur and Alex Kennon.

INI no para. Ella es incansable y su energía contagiosa la acompaña en esta entrevista. Disfruta de su merecido descanso. Estamos en Sirocco Beach Club, en la Tini &The Gang party, y no sé si será por la cercanía o por el ambiente, pero se denota que tINI lleva el ritmo en las venas desde la infancia. Con la batería empezó a cultivar su pasión por la música y solo tenía 7 años. Una mente curiosa alimentaba la creatividad de la pequeña tINI. En sus playlists abundaba música hip hop, grunge y new romantics. Quizás este gusto por lo alternativo y los sonidos más underground determinó su acercamiento a un estilo más electrónico, junto al detonante que supuso para ella el tema Amerika de Moodymaan. Lo único que le faltaba era probar unos platos y probar nuevas fórmulas. 2003 fue el año del despegue de una carrera musical brillante: Empezando por su Múnich natal y una posterior gira por Europa a su merecida adhesión en 2008 al roster Artist Alife y Desolat, hecho que ha marcado un antes y un después en la vida de tINI. A partir de ahí, Ibiza ya entra a formar parte de la vida de esta rubia revolución alemana.

INI cannot stop. She is tireless and her contagious energy goes with her during this interview. She enjoys a deserved break. We are in Sirocco Beach Club, at Tini& The Gang party. I don’t know if it is for the atmosphere or for how close we are, but tINI personally reveals that she is has rhythm on her veins since she was just a child. She started playing drums at 7 years old so music was already a passion. A curious mind fed up her creativity of little tINI. Her playlists were composed by hip hop, grunge and new romantics. Maybe this liking for the most alternative and more underground sound determined an approach to the electronic style, but also the track “Amerika” from Modymaan. Next step was to try the plates and new formulas. In 2003 was the take-off of a brilliant musical career: Starting from Münich, where she was born, a European Tour and at the end her inclusion Artist Alife and Desolat, facts that made a bigger difference into her life. Since that time, Ibiza is in the life of the blonde German revolution.

-Nos gustaría que nos hablases de tus comienzos en Ibiza, ¿Cuándo fue la primera vez que tocaste en Ibiza y cómo recuerdas aquel día?
-Tell us about your first time playing in Ibiza. How do you remember that day?
-No recuerdo que año fue exactamente pero pinché para Carl Cox en la pequeña terraza de la puesta de sol. Estuve abriendo para él. Y como te puedes imaginar yo estaba muy nerviosa, era un evento muy grande para mí, era mi primera actuación aquí. My mejor amiga Tessa estaba allí también. Fue un día muy especial y muy importante para mí. Desde esa actuación he continuado pinchando cada año para Carl Cox.
-I don’t exactly remember the year but I played for Carl Cox, in the sunset little terrace. I was opening for him. An as you can imagine, I was very nervous and it was a big big thing for me, as my first gig. My best friend Tessa joined for the big event. It was a very special and important day for me. Since that give I have continued playing every year for Carl Cox.
-¿Con quién compartiste cartel durante esa primera actuación de Tini & The Gang?
-Who was sharing line up with you during the first time of tINI and The Gang party?
-Estuvimos en la vieja Usuahia, lo que ahora es La Plage. Todo el equipo de Desolat actuó conmigo. También estaba Loco Dice, Magda, Audiofly, Tobi Neumann, Pascal, Domini Galiano…Había ya mucha gente. Mi nombre no era tan conocido como lo es ahora. Después de esa edición nos tomamos un descanso y tINI and The Gang volvió el pasado verano de nuevo. Esta ya es la tercera edición.
-We had actually been in the old Ushuaïa, which is now La Plage. I had also the Desolat crew playing with me. For the closing it was Loco Dice, Magda, Audiofly, Tobi Neumann, Pascal, Domini Galiano…There was lot of people already. My name was not as big as it is now. Then we had a little and we started again last year with Tini and the Gang party. We are on the third season already.
-Esta es la tercera edición consecutiva de la fiesta de tINI&The Gang. ¿Qué ha cambiado respecto al pasado año?
-We know that this is the third year consecutive of your party, how has it changed from the last edition? -I changed the line, but we still have people from the last year. The big change is that this summer there is a bigger line up. I have every week someone doing the warm up. Then I have a second and third DJ. So we are always a big bunch of DJs playing. I wanted to give the possibility to a lot of people, to my friends, so the Gang is growing.
-El cartel ha cambiado, pero todavía tenemos gente del año pasado. Este verano hay un cartel más amplio. Cada semana tenemos a alguien diferente para calentar el ambiente. Luego hay un segundo y tercer DJ que continúa el ritmo. La verdad que somos un buen puñado de DJs. La familia The Gang está creciendo. -¿Cambias el estilo de tus sets o sesiones dependiendo del momento del día o del lugar?
-Do you change the style of your sets/sessions depending on what time is or what place is?
-Absolutamente sí. Realmente nunca he preparado mis sesiones. En una discoteca, en un ambiente más “oscuro” con 3.000 personas, necesitas música diferente a la que se pincha en la playa. En la playa tienes unas pocas cientos de personas bailando y es un ambiente mucho más light y relajado. Nunca hago planes sobre lo que voy a pinchar, pero tengo música para cada ocasión. Además siempre depende del ambiente que haya durante ese día o noche.
-Definitively. I have never really prepared what I played. In a “dark” club with 3000 people you need a different music than on the beach. On the beach you have a few hundred people dancing. It is a lighter and easier atmosphere. I never make plans about what I am going to play, but I have music for each situation, it always depends on the vibe of the night or day.

-Normalmente actúas en discotecas por la noche; ¿qué te gusta más, la fiesta de noche o de día?
-You usually act in clubs by night; do you prefer day or night parties?
-Me gustan ambas. Pero durante las fiestas de día hay unas vibraciones y un ambiente especial. Me encanta pinchar en las discotecas, pero también soy feliz cuando llega el verano y puedo pinchar al aire libre, porque puedo pinchar música diferente.
-I like both parties. But there is actually a special vibe in the day time. Of course there are different types of day times: play at afterhours or playing on the beach when the sun goes down. I also love to play in the clubs, but I am also happy when the summer arrives and I can play outside, there is different music.
-¿En que otros clubs de Ibiza te podemos encontrar este verano? -Tengo un calendario apretado para Ibiza. Son alrededor de 30 actuaciones. Podéis encontrarme en Space Ibiza, Ushuaïa, DC10, Amnesia, también en Sankeys…en muchos lugares. Es muy interesante y lo disfruto muchísimo. -¿Qué fiesta crees que se acerca más a vuestro estilo de música? -Nosotros creo que hacemos algo que va más allá de lo que se lleva en Ibiza normalmente. Es difícil de explicar porque no quiero sonar arrogante. Solo creo que nosotros profundizamos un poco más y yo diría que somos más alternativos que los otros DJ’s. Si nos comparamos con grandes lugares o fiestas grandes, tenemos un sonido menos conocido y más underground. -¿Cómo son tus experiencias fuera de Ibiza? -Viajo cada fin de semana. Me encanta viajar y me encante ver como se acepta o se vive la música en diferentes países o distintos rincones del mundo. Por ejemplo, uno de los viajes más alucinantes fue a Perú. Fue realmente espectacular el poder pinchar allí. Suelo aprovechar mis viajes para coger un poco de inspiración de los lugares que visito, pero volver a Ibiza me hace feliz, porque realmente me siento como en casa. Aunque si tuviera que elegir un lugar fuera de Ibiza me quedaría con Panorama Bar, en Berlín. Siempre es especial pinchar allí.
-Are you going to play in other clubs of Ibiza during this summer? -This is going to be my first time on DC10. I am really excited. I have a really busy scheduled for Ibiza, around 30 gigs with my party. You can find me in Space, Ushuaïa, DC10, Amnesia, Sankeys… lot of places. It is really nice, I enjoy it. -Which of these parties do you think is similar to your music style? -We move a little bit away from what is usually going on in Ibiza. I mean, it is difficult to explain because I don’t want to sound arrogant. It is just I think we go a little bit more deep, and I would say we are more underground than others. Compare to big places or huge parties, we have a more unknown and underground sound. -Tell us about your experiences outside Ibiza. -I travel every weekend. I love to travel and I love to see how the music is accepted in different countries or different corners of the world. For example, one of my amazing trips was to Peru. It was really amazing playing there. I take some inspiration from everywhere, but I am always happy to come back to Ibiza, it really feels like home for me. If I have to choose your favourite place outside of Ibiza…It would be: Panorama Bar, in Berlin. It is very special to play there.

- ¿Crees que está siendo una buena temporada para Ibiza?
-Do you think this season in Ibiza is being a good one?
-Es una temporada difícil; He visto menos gente, menos raves, menos dinero para gastar. Este es el pequeño cambio aunque yo estoy muy feliz. Mi fiesta está funcionando bien, probablemente porque es gratis! También tenemos buenos precios, no hay estrés, es diferente. Yo no necesito tener delante de mi cierto número de personas para ser feliz. Me siento feliz incluso con 5 personas. Esto atrae sensaciones y vibraciones más relajadas a la fiesta. Está funcionando y tenemos cada semana a más gente. No puedo esperar a ver cómo vamos a terminar la temporada con la gran fiesta en la playa!
-It is a difficult season; I see we have a little less people, less raves, less money to spend. This is a little change, but I am very happy. My party is going really well probably because is free. We also have nice drink prices, we have no stress, is different. I don’t need to make a certain amount of people to be happy. I am happy already with 5 people. This brings more relaxed vibes to the party. It is going well, we have more people every week and I am curious to see how we are going to end with the big party on the beach. -What place do you recommend from Ibiza?
-¿Qué lugares recomiendas de Ibiza?
-I love the little beach in Cala d’Hort, because I love Es Vedrà. Also if you wanna rent a boat and got to Cala Tarida. Last time I went around Es Vedrà and I touch it, people said don’t touch but I did it. I love Es Vedrà, it is really nice. Everything that you can see there is amazing.
-Cala d’Hort por que me encanta Es Vedrà. Además también puedes alquilar un barquito para ir a Cala Tarida. La última vez que fui alrededor de Es Vedrà incluso la pude tocar. La gente me decía que no la tocará pero lo hice. Me encanta Es Vedrà, es realmente hermosa. Todo lo que ves allí es emocionante.
-And what about Formentera?
-¿Y que nos puedes decir sobre Formentera?
-I played two times in Formentera for Cocoon. But I didn’t see the island; I really need to see it. To be honest I don’t have time.
-Estuve pinchando dos veces para Cocoon aunque no he visto la isla. Realmente necesito verla! Sinceramente, no tengo tiempo para hacerlo.
-One more thing about tINI…
-Un apunte más sobre tINI…
-Last 24 of July tINI was playing at DC10 for her very first time. It was not her debut in the club: Pete Tong was there and the BBC1 Radio was recording 5 hours of live show for the BBC Essential Mix. During the interview she talked amazed about it: “I am really excited. It is huge and massive for me and I am nervous about it. But I cannot really prepare anything that I want to play or not, I always go with the flow. At the end whatever happens, happens and I hope I make it good.”
-El pasado 24 de Julio tINI pinchó en DC10 por primera vez y no fue solo su debut en este club. Pete Tong estaba allí y la radio BB1 estuvo grabando 5 horas de espectáculo en directo para el programa BBC Essential Mix. Durante la entrevista tINI se mostró emocionada por ello y esto es lo que nos contó: “Estoy realmente emocionada. Es una cosa muy grande y masiva para mí y estoy nerviosa. Pero no puedo preparar nada de lo que voy a pinchar, yo siempre voy con el ritmo. Y al final lo que pase, ha pasado y espero hacerlo bien”.
-With no doubt she gave to the public all her positive energy. Rhythm beats her steps, she original and spontaneous.
-No queda duda de que dio toda su energía positiva. El ritmo de la música marca sus pautas, ella es así de original y espontánea.

unta Galera, en el entorno de Cala Salada, compone uno de los paisajes más sorprendentes y vírgenes de la costa ibicenca. Los contrastes climáticos y la erosión del agua han formado un tramo de roca lisa, que en algunas zonas incluso forma terrazas planas a varios niveles y donde los bañistas más aventureros extienden sus toallas y disfrutan tomando el sol, refrescándose en las aguas puras y relajándose con amigos. Rincón nudista por excelencia, siempre ha sido un paraje poco frecuentado aunque cada vez atrae a más jóvenes, que seducidos por la quietud y la belleza del pintoresco paisaje. La inexistencia de los chiringuitos, la falta de arena y la nula señalización impiden que el lugar se masifique. El terreno rocoso no es un problema a la hora de meterse al agua. La profundidad supera los dos metros y medio prácticamente en toda la orilla, con la excepción de algunas rocas sumergidas más altas que facilitan la salida del mar.

unta Galera, located in the surroundings of Cala Salada, composes one of the most astonishing and virgin landscapes of the Ibiza’s coast. The climate’s changes and the water’s erosion have formed a plain rock space that in some points has created flat terraces at different levels. Curious explorers of the island use these areas to extend their towels and enjoy the day sunbathing and taking a refreshing bath on the pure water with friends. It is a naked corner with no doubt. It hasn’t been a frequent spot on tourist guides even if now Punta Galera attracts more and more young people who are seduced by the calm and the beauty of this charming scenery. It is delighting to see how the no existence of beach clubs or bars and the lack of sand and signs on the road make this spot almost inaccessible or difficult to reach, for instance, hard to become massive.
Es sin duda un lugar especial, tranquilo, mágico, donde el silencio es el gran protagonista. El momento de la puesta de sol es grandioso. La Punta Galera deja volar nuestra imaginación y se convierte en una especie de caimán que observa como el sol se esconde rápidamente en el horizonte infinito. Es un lugar digno de ser visitado. No se sorprendan si se encuentran a un grupo de gente practicando yoga, pues es el mejor sitio para purificar el alma.
The land shaped by rocks is not a problem to plunge in the water. Water has around two metres and a half of deep practically in the whole shore. Though there are some higher rocks that make easier to go out the sea. Special, quiet, magic. Silence is the main actor on this place. The sunset is just magnificent. The Punta Galera makes fly our imagination and becomes a kind of caiman that observes how the sun fast hides behind the endless horizon. It is an absolute spot to visit, a must in Ibiza. Don’t be surprised if you find there people doing yoga, it is the perfect location to purify your soul.

From the Sun’s Temple to the dorado
D
el Templo del Sol al Dorado. Alejandro es uno de los hippies supervivientes de Ibiza, durante tres años estuvo viviendo en Cala d´Or junto con otros amigos, allí construyeron el llamado templo del sol. Por problemas con la propiedad del terreno tuvieron que desalojar, llevándose consigo algunas de sus obras que durante ese tiempo crearon. En marzo de 2011 Alejandro, junto a su amigo, tuvieron que buscar otro sitio donde poder crear su arte, ese sitio está en la carretera de Ibiza a Sant Antoni donde ellos llevan ya casi dos años trabajando en lo que será, según nos cuentan, el parque de el Dorado.
A
lejandro is one of the survivor’s hippies of Ibiza He had lived for 3 years in Cala d’Or along with other friends, where they built their particular Temple of the Sun. The problems with land’s owner make them to leave the Temple and they took with them some of the works created during those 3 years. It was March 2011 and Alejandro and his friend found another place where they could create: That place is now is settled on the road from Ibiza to San Antonio, where they have been living for almost two years. They didn’t’ stop working on the new Golden Park, as they say.
Según ellos el Dorado contará con una superficie de 5.000 metros cuadrados de terreno donde poder realizar su proyecto. Para llevar a cabo sus obras utilizan materiales 100% reciclados que ellos mismos recolectan o incluso les cede la gente que pasa por el lugar. Cada una de estas obras recibe un nombre en función a sus recuerdos transmitidos durante la creación de esta. Se basan como fuente de inspiración en las estrellas, el sol, pero sobre todo con la luna llena ya que esta les transmite una energía positiva la cual aumenta su creatividad. According to Alejandro, The Golden will have around 5.000 square metres of land in order to be able to make the project. To carry out their work they are using 100% recycled materials that they collect from the streets or even people gives them. Every work has a name according to the memories transmitted during the creation of it. Their inspiration is based on the stars and the sun, but especially with the full moon as this spreads a positive energy that increases their creativity.

Durante los últimos 29 años Balter ha realizado todo tipo de magia, desde la cercana hasta la de escenario y también la más moderna tendencia de la “magia callejera”. Actualmente se focaliza en la magia de cerca (Close-Up) y se especializa en crear ilusiones mágicas con objetos cotidianos. Al poder realizar ilusionismo con objetos al alcance de su mano inclusive facilitados por el público, provoca una curiosidad total, dejando a todo el mundo impactado y preguntándose ¿cómo lo ha hecho? Was just 6 years old when he started to be interested in Magic. Balter continued to work on that, becoming member of two of the local magic clubs CUDAM (Magic Arts Circle of Uruguay) and EMU (Uruguay’s Magic Entity). During the last 29 years Balter has perfomed every kind of magic, from Close-Up to the stage’s magic, but also the most modern trend, “street’s magic”. Nowadays, he focuses on Close-up Magic and specialized creating illusionism shows with daily objects. This shows, usually using objects from the public, promote a total curiosity and people impacted and amazed wonder how have he done it. Balter is member of IBM (International Brotherhod of Magicians). He is a versatile and bilingual magician (Spanish-English) and in some occasions he performed in Italian, an advantage that differences him from other magicians.

Is amateur in the world of Magic since he was very young. He started performing at the professional level by chance in his first visit to Spain.Trotamundos (like travelling through the World) has visited different places. He has improved his style thanks to these experiences in which the met lot of magicians. He is specialized in “Street Magic”.

He performs a very pleasant and modern magic that has taken him working in different clubs, restaurant and locals from Balearic Islands. s uno de los DJs con una carrera ya consolidada desde bien joven y no le costó muchos años hacerse un hueco en la escena minimal. Este argentino lleva desde 2003 pinchando, y como todo artista, empezó con un instrumento, en su caso, la guitarra. Fichó por uno de los sellos más importantes de la electrónica, M_nus y por ello, también, está en Ibiza compartiendo su sonido tan envolvente e hipnótico que lo caracteriza.

e is one of the young DJ with a consolidated career. He didn’t took so many years to put a feet in the minimal scenery. This Argentinean boy is playing since 2003. Like all artists, he started working with a musical instrument, in his case, a guitar. M_nus, one of the most important electronic music mark call to his door and for this reason, and for his style, he is now in Ibiza sharing his wrapping and hypnotic sound.

-Para empezar nos gustaría saber qué tal te está yendo el año, ¿qué lugares de los que has estado destacarías?
-Which of the places you have been this year could you headline?
-El año siempre lo empiezo en Sudamérica, a partir de enero empiezo ahí, al ser allí verano. He estado por Chile, Brasil, etc. También he estado en Australia, en Sidney y Melbourne. No son ciudades demasiado distintas a lo de aquí, pero se nota que aun están empezando en el tema de la música electrónica: Son grupos reducidos los que transmiten este tipo de música, salvo algunos pocos festivales, no existen muchos clubes de música electrónica.
-Every year I start working in South America, from January I am there ‘cause it is summer. I have been in Chile, Brazil, etc. I have also been in Australia, in Sydney and Melbourne. These cities are not so much different to the cities we have here but I noted that they are just starting to move the electronic music: They have small groups sharing this kind of music, also a few festival of electronic take place there. Electronic music’s clubs are just a few ones.
-Eres un DJ joven pero con un largo recorrido, ¿cómo surge lo de producir música electrónica? -Pues jugando. Empecé a los 17 años. Salía por ahí y me gustaba la música. Encontré un software gratuito para aprender a producir. Después empecé a pinchar y ahí ya me modernice, utilizando un software como más serio. Mi primera actuación fue a los 20 años, mi primera gira a los 21 o 22, me fui a Estados Unidos.
-You are a young DJ who has a long career. How did you start producing electronic music? -I started just playing. I was 17 years old. I used to go out and I liked the music. I found a free software to learn producing my music. Then I started to play and I got new and serious software. My first session was when I was 20 and my first tour was when I was 21 or 22, I went to United States.

-¿Cual crees que es el artista que más te ha influido?
-Who the artist that has been your inspiration?
-El que más me gusto y el que me descubrió un poco a todos fue Josh Wink. Y por él descubrí a Richie, Ricardo y Luciano.
-Josh Wink was the artist I liked it by far. Thanks to him I discovered Richie Hawtin, Ricardo, Luciano…
-Sabemos que trabajas con el sello M_nus, junto a grandes dj´s de la escena musical electrónica, ¿crees que trabajar para este sello te a abierto muchas puertas?
-We know you work with M_nus, next to famous electronic DJs. Do you think work with this brand has given you more opportunities?
-Yo producía un tipo de música como la que sacaban ellos. Conocí a Richie y entré gracias a él. Y trabajar con M_nus me abrió un montón de puertas. Yo ya tenía un sello, se llamaba FoundSound con Someone Else. Estaba trabajando con ellos pero obviamente con M_nus se me abrieron muchas más puertas.
-I was producing similar music. I met Richie and I got in the brand thanks to him. Work with M_nus gave me more opportunities even if I was already working another brand, FoundSound with Someone Else.

-¿Cómo surgió lo de empezar con M_nus?
-Tell us about the beginning of your career with M_nus.
-Es que en realidad fue media casualidad. Saqué mi primer disco en 2005 y dos meses después vino Richie a Buenos Aires y fui a verlo. Fue una sorpresa cuando él puso uno de los tracks de mi disco, fue rarísimo, una sorpresa muy inesperada. Lo mejor es que no tenía ni que ir a ese festival. Entonces me dijo que le encantó el track que tenia y a los dos o tres días me mando un e-mail para que le enviara unas demos.
-Actually it was a casualty. My first record was out in 2005. Two months later Richie came to Buenos Aires and I went see his show. It was a surprise when suddenly he played one of my tracks. It was strange and a surprise at the same time. It is funny, I was not going to that festival….So, he told me he loved my track and after two or three days he emailed me asking for one of my demos.
-En ocasiones compartes cartel con Richie Hawtin, ¿qué opinas sobre él? -He aprendido mucho de él acerca del manejo de pista, a cómo usar los efectos, la dinámica, los niveles de los tracks, las pausas, aprendí a no apurarme. La primera vez que compartí cartel con él fue en 2006. Hemos viajado mucho juntos y es muy buena gente, una persona muy inteligente y culta. -Enter es una de las mejores fiestas qué podemos encontrar en la noche de Ibiza, ¿que supone para tí el estar en esa noche? -Enter es como una continuación de lo que hubo en Ibiza, pero esta vez es como más nosotros más otros DJs y está muy bien. Antes era un grupo más cerrado, ahora es más abierto a más gente. No sabíamos cómo iba a funcionar. La gente decía que iba a ser oscuro, pero funcionó increíble y se está consolidando. La estética y las fiestas son geniales. Hay muchos DJ´s amigos y está bien organizado. Space es una discoteca muy organizada. Vas muy tranquilo. -¿Has salido de fiesta por Ibiza? ¿Cual destacarías? -Cada vez salgo menos, porque cuando vengo, solo voy a pinchar y después me voy lejos tranquilo, me quedo unos días, voy al norte a relajarme. Después algunas fiestas puntuales, me gustaba cuando hacían Vagabundo en Pacha, me divertía mucho. También fui a Cocoon y Ushuaïa. -¿Cual es el futuro de Barem? -Ahora ya he sacado el mix y me queda sacar el LP. Empezaré a trabajar en otro más deep, más de after. Tal vez haga una gira en el sudeste asiático y sería mi primera vez. Hay lugares en Corea y China y en Malasia que están en auge. Vamos a ver si sale. Y en Ibiza pues estaré en Enter y con Luciano en Ushuaïa. -Barem, para finalizar, ¿que lugares de Ibiza recomiendas? - Me gusta mucho Cala Salada, el norte de la isla, Aigues Blanques y Punta Galera.
-Sometimes you share line up with Richie Hawtin. What do you think about him? -I have learned a lot thanks to him: About how to manage the track, how to use effects, dynamic, track levels, pauses, I learned about how not to hurry up. My first time sharing line up with Richie was 2006. We have travelled a lot together. He is a good person, very intelligent and cultured. -Enter is one of the best parties we can find in Ibiza. How do you feel playing in Enter? -Enter is something else from what was here in Ibiza. This time we play with other Dj´s and it is a good party. Before it looked like it was a closed group, but now is open to more people. We didn’t know how was going to work. People said it was dark but actually it worked very well and it is being consolidated. The esthetic and the parties are original. There are many friends’ dj´s and it is well organized. Space is an organized club. You can feel safe and calm. -Have you been around Ibiza’s parties? -Now I use to go out a little bit less, because when I come here I play and then I prefer to go away, to relax and I stay just a few more days. I use to go to the North of Ibiza. Then I went to some parties: I liked Pacha’s parties “Vagabundos”, it was really fun. I also went to Cocoon and Ushuaïa. -What about the future of Barem? -Now I have already pulled out the mix and next step is to do the same with the LP. I will start working in another LP more “deep style”, like after party music. Maybe I will go on tour around the South East of Asia; it will be my first time playing there. There are some places like Corea, China or Malasia that are growing. We will see if these can work out. In Ibiza I will be playing in Enter and also in Ushuaia next to Luciano. -And for finish, what do you places of Ibiza recomends? -I like Cala Salada, the north of the island, Aigues Blanques and Punta Galera.
