OCTOBER 28, 2023 TAILGATE HOST GUIDELINES AND FAQS
Dear Tailgate Host, Thank you for your generous support of ‘Ascension’: the 2023 Morehouse College Homecoming Tailgate Experience. Support from thoughtful alumni like you make major events like homecoming possible, and we simply couldn’t do it with your participation. As an alum, you know firsthand the type of monumental moments that have occurred at Morehouse in 2023, and with your help, Homecoming 2023 will be another high water mark for our beloved alma mater. As you prepare for Homecoming, please remember that our senior leadership and management team requires all tailgate hosts to provide one-day general liability insurance to protect you, as the tailgate host, and Morehouse College, as the event organizer. We encourage you to consult your home insurance provider or visit www.theeventhelper.com#dcv2Xa to secure your insurance rider separately. Morehouse College must be named as co-insured on your rider. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email us at henry.goodgame@morehouse.edu and joseph.carlos@morehouse.edu.
Homecoming Tailgate FAQ I’ve reserved my tent, what’s my next step? Secure Your One-Day Event Insurance Our senior leadership and management team requires all tailgate hosts to provide one-day general liability insurance to protect you, as the tailgate host, and Morehouse College, as the event organizer. We encourage you to consult your home insurance provider or visit www.theeventhelper.com#dcv2Xa to secure your insurance rider separately. Morehouse College must be named as co-insured on your rider. As in years past, the College will secure all city and state permits required for our one-day Homecoming festival. The Homecoming committee will provide all Tailgate hosts with an allotted number of tables and chairs to groups that have registered as a host for the tailgate experience. All tables are 8 feet long. Host Credentials and guest wristbands must be worn at all times while in the area. This will help us identify authorized friends and family of our community. How will trash be disposed of at the Tailgate? Even though we will have people to monitor and empty trash cans, bags will be provided at every tent and throughout the campus. All hosts are encouraged to bring their own trash bags and guests to limit the trash they place outside of trash cans. Also, please limit glass and open bottles in the Tailgate Area. It is strongly encouraged that all participants keep their areas clean.
Homecoming Tailgate FAQ Are guests allowed to play music during the tailgate and game? Yes, the Morehouse tailgate is a family friendly event, we ask that all music provided at Tailgate Tents be clean and free of explicit language and graphic content. Additionally, music volumes must be respectful to surrounding tailgaters, tents, and activities. If music is excessive in volume or disruptive to surrounding community members, the group will be asked to lower the volume by a member of the Homecoming Committee or Public Safety. If guests want to play their own music after 2:00 p.m./the start of the football game it is asked that it’s kept at a low volume and facing away from the stadium, so it does not interrupt the game. Due to new NCAA regulations, guests will be asked to turn down their music if it can be heard and is considered disruptive to the game within the stadium.
