KEEPING YOU INFORMED AND CONNECTED
A letter from Rob
Hello North Metro Church,
You could be reading this letter the day this all happened, but in case not, this newsletter dropped on Sunday, July 28, the last day of our Hunger Revival and the very first Sunday at our new campus, Sewell Mill. This is an exciting time at NMC, and I am humbled and elated to be a part of what God has been doing here. If you are a first-time visitor, I want to say WELCOME! I am beyond excited that you have come through the doors of NMC and it's not a coincidence that you are here and reading these words.
A number of years ago, God laid it on our hearts to have multiple locations, and what was a prayer, a dream, and a goal at the time is now a reality. You can watch the video on our Locations page at northmetro.org to get the whole story. But let me just say that God is faithful, and the way our Sewell Mill Campus came about is ALL and ONLY because of Him.
If you have been a member of NMC, I just want you to know how deeply grateful I am for you and your generosity in giving financially, volunteering your time, and praying over the development and momentum of our Sewell Mill Campus. You are helping people find and follow Jesus. I am so thankful for you.
It is that time of the year again where ALL things are beginning - a new school year, the start of football practice … you name it. I encourage you to look through our events page to see what God could be calling you to or inviting you to be a part of. In the third week of August, we kick off our new semester of two ministries: re|engage and re:generation. re|engage is our marriage enrichment ministry and re:generation is a discipleship group that focuses on overcoming struggles and living in the new life Christ gives us. Then, in early September, we have two incredible events for men and women that you will want to be a part of. So, pray, invite that friend or co-worker, and come join us!
Grateful for you,
MAN CHURCH AND WOMEN'S GATHERING
Cultivate community, dive deep into God's word, and be refreshed mid-week at our Man Church and Women's Gathering. So join us for our Women's Gathering on Thursday, September 5, and Man Church on Tuesday, September 3.
Mark Richt
Former UGA & University of Miami coach and College Hall of Fame recipient
Former University of Georgia Football Coach and now author Mark Richt will join the men at Man Church. The men of North Metro Church will be challenged and reminded to "Remember the big picture." Whether you root for the Dawgs, or not, this night is for you. Join the men of NMC for a car show, optional barbeque competition, outdoor games, dinner, worship, and a message from Mark.
Tuesday, September 3
Katherine Wolf Guest Speaker & Author
Our women are in for a treat as Katherine Wolf is joining us. At age 26, Katherine survived a catastrophic stroke and has since used her second-chance life to champion the truth that suffering and joy can coexist in your good/hard story. Katherine is an author, speaker, mother, wife, and so much more. Join the women of NMC for dinner, worship, and a timely message.
Thursday, September 5
For the first time ever, our Man Church and Women's Gatherings will be held in three environments: in our Auditorium and Theater at our Barrett Campus, and at our second location, Sewell Mill. We are so excited to welcome more men and women to jump into community and hear about Jesus. So rally your friends and join us. Head to northmetro.org/events today!

WELCOME HOME
BARRETT CAMPUS | SUNDAY, AUGUST 25 | 12:15PM
SEWELL MILL | SUNDAY, AUGUST 18 | 12:15PM

GROUPS
At NMC, we genuinely believe we are better together. Therefore, we want everyone to circle up with others in a group. We have three different types of groups you can join. Connection Groups meet over shared interests such as hiking, board games, or movies; Community Groups meet for fellowship, prayer, and
Care
PRAYER
Prayer is powerful. It's one of the most important things we can do as a church. Our staff and leadership would love to come alongside you, fight for you in whatever difficulty you may be experiencing, and celebrate any answered prayers. To share your prayer requests, visit northmetro.org/prayer.
HOME REPAIR ASSISTANCE
NMC has a faithful group of men looking to serve widows, single moms, and other ladies in our church. These men are skilled in most areas of basic home repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry; however, they are unable to take on major renovations or projects that require county permitting. If you are a single woman needing assistance with home maintenance or home repairs
study of the Bible; and Care Groups assist anyone walking through difficulty or life transition. If you want to join a Connection Group, Community Group, or Care Group, or start your own group, check out northmetro.org/groups.
TABLESETTERS
When we serve others, we set the table for them to experience the grace of God. That’s why, around here, we call our volunteers Tablesetters. Our goal is for everyone to experience the joy of serving others as a Tablesetter and serve somewhere within our church. Regardless of your schedule, experience, or gifting, there’s a fulfilling place for you to serve here. Visit northmetro.org/serve to browse opportunities and take the next step to serve.
BAPTISMS
We have classes for elementary-aged children, students, and adults that are each offered once a quarter. After you have attended a class, one of our pastors will meet with you or your child.
If you’re ready to take this step in your faith journey, we invite you to sign up for a class at our Barrett Campus. For more information about our beliefs on baptism and to sign up for a class, visit northmetro.org/baptism.

RE:GENERATION
BARRETT CAMPUS | WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21 | 7:00PM
Through His Word, God offers us principles where freedom and new life can be found. Are you hurting, feeling stuck, giving up hope for change, or wanting to identify and remove obstacles for a deeper fellowship with God? Wonder why you keep struggling with the same thing day after day, year after year?
re:generation is discipleship for the heart and teaches you how to apply the principles of Scripture to your everyday life. Participants walk through 12 steps of biblical healing in the context of authentic community. If you want to learn how to live out a "new life in Christ" and find healing
in Jesus during your day-to-day life, re:generation is a great place to discover the fullness that Christ alone offers us.
RE|ENGAGE
BARRETT CAMPUS | MONDAY, AUGUST 19 | 7:00-9:00PM
SEWELL MILL CAMPUS | SUNDAY, AUGUST 18 | 4:00-6:00PM
re|engage is a marriage enrichment ministry designed for couples ready to invest time and energy into building a stronger marriage. Through a mix of largegroup teaching and small-group discussion, you and your spouse are challenged and encouraged with practical ways to apply the gospel of Jesus to your marriage. Couples are discipled and equipped to grow in their walk with Christ and their marriages by studying and applying biblical principles within a small group structure. To learn more, visit our Marriage page at northmetro.org/marriage.
MERGE
BARRETT CAMPUS | MONDAY, OCTOBER 14 | 7:00-9:00PM
Strong, healthy marriages start long before the wedding. To build a marriage that lasts and gets off to a great start, we encourage all engaged couples to participate in Merge, our premarital discipleship class. Merge classes are available to those who regularly attend NMC and are already engaged. To learn more, visit our Marriage page at northmetro.org/marriage.
FOUNDATION GATHERINGS
BARRETT CAMPUS | MONDAY, AUGUST 26 | 7:00-9:00PM
The first few years of marriage can be difficult, but they also offer a chance to build healthy patterns into a marriage at a formative stage. Foundation Gatherings are open to married couples who have been married for three years or less. These events occur regularly throughout the year and include dinner, teaching, and a chance to build relationships with other newlywed couples. Our next Foundation Gathering will be held on Monday, August 26 from 7:00-9:00pm. To learn more, visit our Marriage page at northmetro.org/marriage.
DIVORCE CARE
Divorce Care is a mix of support and learning for those currently separated or divorced. We understand that divorce can be one of life's most painful trials. While God hates divorce, He doesn't hate divorced people. Our Divorce Care ministry is led by individuals who understand what you're experiencing and will support you as you move forward. Through Divorce Care, you will learn how to deal with the heartache of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life.
FOSTER & ADOPTION SUPPORT
BARRETT CAMPUS | WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13 | 6:00-9:00PM
Scripture urges believers to look after the orphans in our community. One way we
do this at NMC is to come around families participating in foster care or adoption. In addition, this group is a place to find support and encouragement from others who understand these specific challenges. This month's meeting is on Wednesday, August 13, from 6:30-9:00pm at the Barrett Campus.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one care ministry that supports those experiencing difficult times. Stephen Ministers are members of our NMC community, who are well-trained in encouraging others who are enduring painful times such as the loss of a loved one, a marriage, a job, or one's health. If you are facing any of life's difficult circumstances, please consider using a Stephen Minister to help bear your burdens.
PURE DESIRE
Pure Desire is a men's ministry that provides hope, freedom, and healing from sexual brokenness through Jesus Christ. Through this group, you will understand how family of origin and trauma impact your behavior, how addiction affects brain chemistry, and develop a plan to create freedom from addiction. Don't let shame keep you from finding help. There is hope as you walk out this journey with other Christ-followers.
INFERTILITY & LOSS SUPPORT
BARRETT CAMPUS | MONDAY, AUGUST 14 | 7:00PM
When God calls our hearts to grow our families, He never promises it will be easy, but He does promise to lead when we are lost. Take refuge in knowing you’re not alone. If you struggle with infertility or have experienced miscarriage or infant loss, there’s a place for you. This month's meeting will be on Monday, August 14 at 7:00pm at the Barrett Campus.
WOMEN’S CANCER SUPPORT
BARRETT CAMPUS | SUNDAYS AUGUST 11 & 25 | 12:15PM
Cancer hits with a terrible punch, whether it’s you, a spouse, parent, sibling, child, or friend. We can't take you out of this storm, but we can walk alongside you and hold you up when the weight is too heavy. We can be that safe place to let all your feelings fall. We can have the honor of praying continually for you and your family. We can be that safe group of ladies who get it without explanation or apologies; we get it all.
If cancer has affected you in any way, we encourage you to reach out to NMC's Cancer Support Group. You will find an amazing community of brave, strong women who have learned to trust God no matter what because He is trustworthy. This month's meetings will be on Sunday, August 11, and Sunday, August 25, at 12:15pm at the Barrett Campus.
BEAUTY FOR ASHES
BARRETT CAMPUS | THURSDAYS AUGUST 8 & 22 | 7:00PM
Beauty for Ashes is a confidential group designed to encourage and give hope to women whose husbands struggle with sexual addiction. We understand the devastation of a husband's betrayal; however, our goal is not to stay in this place of wounding but to seek the Lord for healing and hope. This month's meetings will be on Thursday, August 8, and Thursday, August 22, at 7:00pm on the Barrett Campus.

CARE GROUP SPOTLIGHT
re:generation is a discipleship program that focuses on healing from any struggle so that you can live your life to the fullest, just as Jesus came to give to us (John 10:10). re:generation not only focuses on personal growth, but one of the greatest benefits is the joyful, true, and honest community that you will find. We want you to experience healing transformation, but we don’t want you to do it alone.
Our re:generation groups have already found this deep community. You’ll see these men and women rally around to celebrate a baptism or congregate together on a Sunday morning. Here’s what a few participants have to say about the friendships they have in re:generation:
“I’ve seen relationships blossom as everyone has been transparent in sharing, and that creates a bond built on trust. I love seeing the different demographics represented connecting (single, married, variety of ages, employed vs. retired). I see this as a true representation of God’s church as we love, care for, share, cry, laugh, and pray for each other.”
“My re:gen sisters have become like family to me. In the beginning, I would never have believed that I would find friends with such a diverse group of women.”
“The relationships I have experienced have been one of the sweetest surprises. Although each one of us is navigating completely different circumstances, the root of what God is doing in each one of us is similar. I consider these ladies my sisters not only in Christ but in friendship. I hope to keep meeting with them after commencement as we all continue our sanctification journey.”
“I’ve walked with Christ for many years but have become disconnected in my relationship with Him. Through re:gen I have rebuilt my walk with Him and have learned to trust my struggle with a group of men around me.”
“The relationships are: authentic, honest, encouraging, with no pressure or no judgment.” They are a true gift from God. The community is unmatched, and the support runs deep.”
“The relationships I have experienced have been one of the sweetest surprises.”
So, join re:generation and experience a new life in Christ, and be a part of a community that’s like no other. A new semester of re:generation starts on Wednesday, August 21 at the Barrett Campus. Learn more at northmetro.org/events
As NMC celebrates its 25th anniversary, we're not only looking back at what God has done over the years but also looking ahead to what God has in store for us in the future. As a way to celebrate, each month, we meet one of the many family members of NMC and hear their story of how God has used NMC to help them become more faithful followers of Jesus.
Andrew Walden Spotlight
From Kid's Production to Worship Leader to Technical Director, Andrew Walden and his 18 years at NMC have greatly impacted him and us. In an interview with Daniel Hicks, you'll hear just how much he loves his family, NMC, Chick Fil A, and Atlanta United. Andrew serves in many roles, but on a Sunday morning, you'll find him in our Tech Booth, making sure all the sound, lights, and live streams are running smoothly. In his 18 years at NMC, he has heard countless messages, experienced many movements of God, and seen stories of life change from the back of the room.
Andrew shared what it's been like to be on our staff for so long. In 2008, it felt like a faraway dream to be debt-free, open up a second campus, and give away weekend offerings. Andrew shared how
surreal it feels to be a church that can now do all of those things. Daniel and Andrew remarked, "Tell that to 2008." We at NMC are living in the benefit of the faithfulness and generosity of the people in the past who gave generously and prayed fervently.
Andrew's stories remind us from where God has brought us. We have already seen God's faithfulness and what He has done in the last 25 years of NMC; it excites us to ask, What more will God do? Join us in thanking God for the people He called to NMC 25 years ago and for their selflessness and obedience. Let us pray that we will be faithful to God's calling now as we look forward to 25 more years of faithfully following Jesus at NMC.

2024 NMC Students Mission Trip
This year, during the month of June, we received the largest mission trip we have ever had. Twenty wonderful NMC Students came to Guatemala to serve in this ministry and bring joy to dozens of children.
When we started planning this trip, we knew it was going to be a little different with the logistics since accommodating a group of 25 people (including leaders) is no easy task. This was a new challenge for us and led us to explore options we hadn't tried before, such as using a school bus as our official transport. However, we were never worried about the willingness, love, service, camaraderie, and humility that these students demonstrated during the training stage and later put into practice in the field.
During the week, we had the opportunity to paint the school in Xecotoj, one of the communities we regularly serve. It had been years since the school last received a touchup, and it looked sad and lifeless. After three days of hard work, the group not only gave the building a new look but also brought it back to life. The community families and children were very grateful because now the school stands out for how good it looks, not for feeling abandoned. Additionally, there is now a mural at the entrance that gives identity and joy to the entire neighborhood.
It was a wonderful trip. We brought a lot of fun to the children in Patzutzun (another village we serve) during their vacation, we threw a party for the students in our programs at our base in Panajachel, and we even attended church.
Every mission trip that visits Redeemer's House (Casa del Redentor in Spanish, or CDR) strengthens our relationship with the communities, brings a lot of joy to the children, and blesses this ministry in special ways. Regardless of whether it's a group of adults, students, or families, at the end of the week, the testimonies we hear, the memories, and the experiences leave a mark on the heart of each person who makes this work possible, and on the nearly 300 children who benefit weekly from our programs. Thank you to each of the students and leaders who were part of this trip, and to NMC. If you are reading this and have thought about going on a mission trip with NMC, I encourage you to do it; it will be worth it. CDR and Guatemala await you with open arms.
As we head toward 2025, we are praying our guts out and are entirely dependent on the Lord! He has entrusted us with our vision to “Be Missed,” and our mission, “We Help People Find and Follow Jesus.” To live that out, we have set three God-sized goals to aim for as a church.
PEOPLE ENROLLED IN NMCU 1,428 PEOPLE FOUND 309
We’re telling our friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers about our great God, who loves us immeasurably more than we can imagine. We want to celebrate with you if you’ve played a part in helping someone move from death to life or if you came to faith in Christ! We invite you to share your story by visiting the Contact Us page at northmetro.org.
We currently support six church plants, including Take Hold in Scotland; Grace Auburn in Auburn, Alabama; Creekside in Dallas, Georgia; Heirloom Church in Kyle, Texas; Oaks Community Church in Naples, Florida; and Compassion International in Guatemala.
Before Jesus left the disciples, He said, "Go make disciples." A tangible way to see that hope realized is through our discipleship program, NMCU. We're looking to see 1,000 people faithfully following Jesus, equipped with knowledge of Scripture, to share their beliefs with others ultimately. NMCU creates disciples that make disciples.
Expand the Kingdom of God through five new church plants nationally and/or globally. Church plants are an expression of our multiplication strategy, multiplying the mission to help people find and follow Jesus.
