BECHER CHASE DAY SAT 4 DECEMBER TICKETS FROM £20 THEJOCKEYCLUB.CO.UK/AINTREE
THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU
We are delighted to welcome you back to Aintree Racecourse for our Betway Autumn Raceday. The Jump season is well underway now and we were treated to a brilliant day’s racing last month, with Allmankind proving a very impressive winner of the Jewson Monet’s Garden Old Roan Chase for the Skelton team. We look forward to watching his progress throughout the season and hope to see him back here in April. Today we have an exciting seven-race card on offer with the Betway Grand Sefton Handicap Chase over the famous Grand National fences taking centre stage. This is always an exciting contest, and this year’s race looks no different. The race is one of five races staged over the National fences during the course of the season, and the Betway Grand Sefton Chase is an exciting addition to our Autumn Raceday card. We wish all connections of all our runners today the very best of luck. Our thanks go to today’s sponsors Betway and Pertemps. We thank them for their support and wish them, and their guests a wonderful day with us. We wish you all a very enjoyable day’s racing and look forward to hopefully seeing you back at Aintree for our Unibet Becher Chase Day on Saturday 4th December. NICHOLAS WRIGLEY

HILLCREST confirmed the promise of his bumper debut effort when scoring at Warwck in the spring, finding plenty to lead near the finish despite still looking very raw. A most exciting prospect now his attentions are switched to timber, he gets the nod to come out on top. Tigerbythetail, who shaped promisingly in a Market Rasen bumper in the spring, and No Word Of A Lie are others to consider.

PLAY SMARTER
A really interesting novices’ handicap chase with the vote in favour of YOUR DARLING. A progressive hurdler, he surpassed his form in that sphere when scoring impressively on chase debut at Huntingdon in October and he looks up to handling his subsequent rise in the weights. Beakstown has a lengthy absence to overcome but is also high on the shortlist, along with Kiltealy Briggs and Linelee King.

Having finished third in this contest 12 months previously, Beau Bay went two places better to land last year’s renewal for trainer Dr Richard Newland at double-figure odds of 20-1. Ridden by then 3lb claiming jockey Charlie Hammond, the winner jumped brilliantly throughout and had enough left in the tank to get through on the inside at the Elbow and outstay long-time leader Sir Jack Yeats on the run-in, eventually going on to score by five lengths. Beau Bay went on to win a veterans’ handicap chase at Doncaster in the spring, before being pulled-up in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham when last seen. SENIOR CITIZEN has a big prize in him over these fences judged on the way he took to them twice last season. A return to winning ways in a useful contest at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago proved his well-being and he can come out on top again. All roads point to the National for Time To Get Up but he can still make a mockery of his revised mark on his return. 2019-winner Hogan’s Height may revive.

SUMMERVILLE BOY goes very well fresh and is favoured at the weights here too so is taken to repeat his victory in this contest 12 months ago. Brewinupastorm ended last term back on song and hails from a yard among the winners so appeals as the one to chase him home, despite having to concede weight all round. If The Cap Fits is another worth considering for an in-form stable.

Racehorse & Jockey Welfare
Weights, Pedigrees, Trainers’ Names, Descriptions, Performances and Values of races have been added for the convenience of the Public, but are subject to alteration. All horses must parade in the Parade Ring except by permission of the Stewards, but in all cases must pass through the Ring on the way to the Post. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone without assigning a reason for so doing.
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Aintree Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
Parade Ring Access In the interests of safety, access to the parade ring is strictly limited to Owners and Trainers with runners in the race, British Horseracing Authority Officials and Racecourse Officials who are on duty at the meeting and Emergency Service Personnel. Those people holding badges or accreditation that allow access to the Parade Ring are asked to refrain from entering this area unless it is absolutely necessary in the course of their business.
Photography Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes in the public enclosures. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication without prior accreditation being obtained. Flash photography is not permitted anywhere in the Parade Ring or Winner’s Enclosure areas, or anywhere in the close vicinity of horses.
