9 Form guide 10 Age 11 Weight 12 Stalls Position
Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.
Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

HOW TO BET
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
EACH WAY BETTING
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win
• 3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4
All bookmakers must display on their boards whether they are betting each way or to win only

RACE RESULT DISTANCES 1ST
2ND 3RD 4TH TIME
CAMP BELAN conceded plenty of weight to runner-up Heritier De Sivola when victorious over this C&D last season and could well stage a repeat despite running off 8lb higher. His old rival did manage to narrowly turn things around when they subsequently clashed at Hexham in March and he’s dangerous to underestimate. However, fellow course winner Destiny Is All may pose a bigger threat running off 3lb below his last winning mark.

TODAY’S TRAINER TO WATCH - DAN SKELTON
Dan’s Ayr-raids with brother Harry have proved hugely successful in recent seasons and the trainer sends 5 runners north to try and keep the stable’s current winning form going at the start of another busy week. The trainer had an excellent couple of days at Cheltenham before moving on to Aintree yesterday and the emergence of novice hurdler Valgrand as a serious Grade 1 prospect at Cheltenham is yet another feather in the cap for a trainer whose stock has been steadily rising to the point where he took last year’s trainers’ championship to the final two weekends here at Ayr and Sandown. Bumper winner Country Mile looks an interesting hurdles prospect at 1.17, with Home Free a likely type at 3.28 and unbeaten point-to-point winner Dalston Lad sure to be fancied in the closing bumper

TODAY’S JOCKEY TO WATCH - SEAN BOWEN
It’s great to have Sean Bowen and Harry Skelton here at Ayr today with both riders going head to head for the jockeys’ championship, won last year by Harry Cobden. Sean will be hoping to stay injury-free this season after last year’s Boxing Day fall which cost him all chance of winning and allowed Cobden to catch and pass him to take the title. Bowen’s “have saddle - will travel” attitude is reflected by two rides here today, with Bowen here principally for the mount on Olly Murphy’s Dinofromberlais in the closing bumper at 4.03 However, the very much in-form jockey has picked up a “spare” for Jackie Stephen on Flying Sandpiper at 2.55 and will be available for any rides that become available unexpectedly during the course of the afternoon.

NOT IN KANSAS goes well fresh and, having created a deep impression when wining a conditional riders’ race at Perth under Bruce Lynn back in May, the daughter of Gentlewave could be tough to deal with on her return from a break. Fellow last-time-out winners Magical Arthur and Topkapi Star also command respect, while the hat-trick seeking Hapy La Vie is still on an upward trajectory and is interesting back over timber.

CALDWELL has been very reliable in all disciplines from the summer onwards and made a successful beginning to his chasing career at Hexham. Back over the smaller obstacles, he is just 1lb higher, with the extra half-mile fancied to bring him forward even further. Rickety Gate showed the benefit of a break when justifying favouritism at Kelso and looks dangerous. Grass’s Jet was well fancied on his debut for this yard at Bangor and although disappointing, it is too soon to give up on him.

Bridge Road has been edging closer to the winner’s enclosure, although his strike-rate is moderate and a 1lb rise for his Uttoxeter second does him no favours. Love That and March Wind ran respectably on the same Perth card back in May, while Celestial Fashion’s best form puts her in with a shout, but a chance is taken on ENTITY OF SUBSTANZ. Dan Skelton’s five-year-old is related to some smart performers and an initial mark of 96 is there to be exploited.

4TH TIME
A winner at Uttoxeter on his seasonal return recently, there should be more to come from HOME FREE and Dan Skelton’s gelding is taken to defy a 4lb rise in the handicap en route to further success. An ease in grade will do no harm to the chances of Carcaci Castle, who looks the main danger, while Travail D’Orfevre, an admirably consistent type over fences, could have a say too.

Olly Murphy has an excellent record in these types of contests so Dinofromberlais, who showed only moderate form in the pointing sphere, could well step forward on this Rules debut. However, the vote goes to DALSTON LAD. The Ocovango gelding fetched 115,000 euros at the sales in May and the half-brother to useful performer Gone Platinum looks sure to go well at the first time of asking under Rules. Stride On is another to consider.
