Bun Doran, 2018 winner of the November Handicap Chase
TAP INTO REMARKABLE
THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU
We are looking forward to three fantastic days of sport throughout The November meeting at the Home of Jump Racing. Although sadly still behind closed doors, we are thrilled to be holding six races today, including The Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase, The Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle and The Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase. Traditionally, today would have been our popular ‘Countryside Day.’ Although our usual Countryside Day activities cannot take place, The Countryside Alliance has curated a little virtual entertainment to help you enjoy the day. They’re running a virtual #GreatBritishGetTogether and we encourage everyone to get involved from home by making a special meal with the loved ones in your household. To find out more about the scheme, and to register, please head to our website. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their support of today’s card, Paddy Power, Ballymore, Glenfarclas, Markel Insurance, SSS and Valda Energy. We will certainly miss the buzz of the crowd but you can still keep involved and updated through our Jump Racing Hub and through our Twitter page. ITV Racing will be with us across all three days meaning you won’t miss a beat of the action. We hope you enjoy the first day of The November Meeting and join us again tomorrow for our much-anticipated Paddy Power Day, featuring The Paddy Power Gold Cup from the comfort of your own home. MARTIN ST QUINTON Chairman
IAN RENTON Regional Director
DON'T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING - SATURDAY 14 & SUNDAY 15 NOVEMBER THE NOVEMBER MEETING - DAYS 2 & 3 The final two days of this unmissable meeting at the Home of Jump Racing. As we are racing behind closed doors, stay involved from home through our Jump Season Hub for a digital racecard, news, and top tips. You can also follow @cheltenhamraces on Twitter. It's true that all roads lead to The Festival™, but the magic starts at The November Meeting.

BETTING EXPLAINED — Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number. — Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet. — ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. — ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet. — Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet. — Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience. — Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.
A DAY AT THE RACES EXPLAINED — Explore and familiarise yourself with the racecourse. — Find out the time of the first race in the racecard. Races are about 30 minutes apart and provide a natural focus for your day. — Visit the Parade Ring around 20 minutes before each race. This is your chance to see the horses up-close. Look for signs of their fitness and attitude. A glossy coat, pricked ears and alert nature are considered good. — Watch at least one race by the railings, as close to the finishing post as you can get.
RACEHORSES EXPLAINED — Jump horses are generally sturdier and bigger than Flat horses. Key attributes are endurance and strength. — Flat horses are lighter and more elegant for shorter, faster races. — They use a different set of muscles, so muscle definition varies just like in human athletes. — On average, Jump horses race - or ‘travel’ - at 30mph. — Flat horses are faster at 35mph and the best exceed 40mph during a race.
Tote Ten to Follow
Your guide
Season. Sorted.
Tote Ten to Follow
is back for the National Hunt season and there’s a minimum top prize of £77,000 upfor grabs. To win a share of pot, the task is simple - pick ten horses who will win races throughout the season. Here’s your guide to the ultimate season-long bet. £5 per stable. Guaranteed min. total prize pool of £150,000 including min. 1st place prize of £77,000. Paid entries close 11:00 GMT 14/11/2020. T&Cs apply. UK and ROI Only. 18+ Begambleaware.org
How does Tote Ten to Follow work? To play Tote Ten to Follow, players must select a stable of ten horses that will represent them throughout the National Hunt season. Every time one of their horses wins or places, they earn points for their stable. The stable with the most points at the end of the season takes home the top prize.
Why is the Tote Ten to Follow a great bet? Tote Ten to Follow is a brilliant bet because for just £5 you can have an interest in most Grade 1s across the season. With a 0% take out, all of the money bet into the pool will be shared amongst the winners. There’s a guaranteed minimum of £150,000 in the pool and as well as prizes for the overall winners down to 100th place, there are four monthly prizes worth £10,000 for the most points in December, January, February and March.
How are the points calculated? The better the race, the more points your horse gets for winning:
Grade 1
25 points
Grade 2
20 points
Grade 3
15 points
Listed
12 points
Any other race
10 points
You’ll also get points based on the Tote return for a £1 each-way bet. So, if a horse wins at £6.20 on the win pool and £1.20 on the place, that’s an additional 7.40 points for your stable. As well as the above, there are 25 bonus races you’ll need to target to be in with a chance of winning.
What are bonus races? There are 25 bonus races to target throughout the season. Win a bonus race and your horse will pick up an additional 25 points while there are 12 points on offer for the runner-up.
The bonus races are: Betfair Chase (Haydock), Ladbrokes Trophy (Newbury), Tingle Creek (Sandown), King George VI (Kempton), Welsh National (Chepstow), Savills Chase (Leopardstown), Irish Champion Hurdle (Leopardstown), Irish Gold Cup (Leopardstown), Betfair Hurdle (Newbury), Arkle (Cheltenham), Champion Hurdle (Cheltenham), Queen Mother Champion Chase (Cheltenham), RSA Chase (Cheltenham), Stayers Hurdle (Cheltenham), Ryanair Chase (Cheltenham), County Hurdle (Cheltenham), Gold Cup (Cheltenham), Betfred Bowl (Aintree), Aintree Hurdle (Aintree), Melling Chase (Aintree), Liverpool Stayers Hurdle (Aintree), Grand National (Aintree), Irish National (Fairyhouse), Scottish National (Ayr), Bet365 Celebration Chase (Sandown)

PLAY SMARTER
A really interesting opener with the vote in favour of low-mileage INDUNO. He appeals as being on a good mark on the pick of last season’s form and, for the stable that won this race 12 months ago, it will come as no surprise to see him firmly in the mix. Tango Boy remains with potential and is feared along with Steal A March. Lungarno Palace makes each-way appeal at likely longer odds.

PLAY SMARTER
Lots with chances but Fergal O’Brien took this 12 months ago and has another very strong contender in THE BEES KNEES who made a mockery of his opening handicap mark when a 15-length scorer at Musselburgh last week and gets in under a 7lb penalty here. One True King is another with better days ahead of him so rates the chief threat, while both Takeit Easy and Seaborn are worth considering too.
