Today we pay tribute to Her Majesty The Queen. We remember fondly her enormous passion for racing which endured throughout her reign and the many times she came to Goodwood to enjoy success at the course. Her Majesty was twice awarded Britain’schampion flat race owner. Over the last seventy years, amultitude of successes on the South Downs included twice winning the Goodwood Cup, one of the foremost tests of stamina in the country.More recently, her famous purple and scarlet colours have been carried to success by Call To Mind who won the March Stakes in 2017. Seniority was successful in the 2018 running of the Golden Mile, while at last season’sflagship Qatar Goodwood Festival, her homebred Wink Of An Eye stormed to victory.Goodwood was lucky enough to bare witness to her final success as an owner on aBritish racecourse as Love Affairs won the fillies’ nursery handicap for trainer Clive Cox and jockey Adam Kirby.
Ihope you have avery good time at Goodwood and Ilook forward to welcoming you back for our final fixture, the Season Finale on Sunday, 9October.
Midweek Racing
We are very grateful to the Bahrain Turf Club, Heineken, the British European Breeders Fund and South Downs Water for their support of the racing this afternoon.
The Duke of Richmond &Gordon Chairman, Goodwood Racecourse
Good afternoon and welcome to Goodwood for the second of our Midweek race days.
We haveseven racesthis afternoon, the highlight of which over one-milesix-furlong Bahrain Foundation Stakes for three-year-olds and upwards, now established as an important feature of this race day and worth over £50,000 in prize money.
The supporting card includes the valuable Class 2Fillies’ Handicap contested over one-mile-six furlongs, in addition to two races for three-year-olds and over. The fixture often provides an opportunity to see late-maturing horses, and it is always worth keeping an eye on those who perform well here.

Race Summary
Plentywith chances, but RED MIRAGE has been knockingonthe door of late off this mark and with this slightly longer trip in his favour, helooks the one to be on with William Buick on board for the first time. Alazwar is a lightly-raced contender who can't be dismissed with his yard in such good form, but the biggest danger might be Percy's Lad, if building on his win at Chester last month.

Coco Bear is asimilar sort and he rates next best, ahead of Alcazan.

Cadillac and RoyalFleetset the form standard but theformerhas slight ground concerns and the latter returns from abreak, so it may pay to take them on with PETER THE GREAT. John and Thady Gosden's gelding didn't give his true running when forcing too strong a pace in atough Haydock Group 3event last time, but he'dlookedListed class when winning successive handicaps at Chelmsford and Newmarket previously with afair bit up his sleeve.

Tony Carroll's charge was only narrowly denied over C&D last August, though, and she has shown enough pace in recent starts to suggest she could thrive under these conditions. Atwo-time winner already this season, Glamorous Breeze is proven at the distance and she is entitled to go close along with the improving Glamorous Express.
