WELCOME
Good afternoon and a warm welcome to our USAVE Utility Contracts Raceday, the first of two fantastic days of racing here at Hamilton Park.
My thanks go to all of today’s sponsors – USAVE Utility Contracts, who are our title sponsors today, the European Breeders Fund, Racing TV, The Village Tavern and our very own Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park hotel. Your sponsorship is very much appreciated and enables us to be able to offer the levels of prize money available this season as well as invest in the overall development of the racecourse. We also welcome students from across the central belt of Scotland today, many for the first time, through the Invades student raceday initiative. I hope all of our valued partners and guests here with us this afternoon have a great time
We’ve got seven competitive races scheduled this afternoon with today’s feature race, the Usave Business Energy Specialist Fillies’ Handicap due off at 3.42pm. This is a Class 4 contest over six furlongs with four of today’s eleven runners claiming wins over course and distance this season. Iain Jardine has three runners in the race with Mostar Dreams alongside multiple winners Giselles Izzy and Catherine Chroi, whilst Tristan Davidson will be hoping to a return to the form which has seen Iris Dancer claim six career wins here for owners the Auld Pals. The Jim Goldie-trained Rock Melody is the most recent Hamilton winner in the field having won by a neck back in August, beating a field that also included Iris Dancer and Catherine Chroi. I wish the best of luck to all this afternoon’s runners and riders.
Once the racing action has finished our attention will turn to the main stage on the paddock lawn where ten acts will perform live to see who is crowned the winner of this year’s Hamilton Park’s Got Talent competition, with £1,000 up for grabs for the winner We have some extremely talented acts including singers and dance troupes who are set to take to the stage, so do stay on and show your support. As part of the show, we’re delighted to be welcoming Scottish singer/songwriter and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Cammy Barnes who will be performing whilst the judges deliberate the winning performance – it’s sure to be great entertainment and we may just uncover a star of the future!
We’re back racing again tomorrow with our Indigo Unified Comms Raceday with gates opening at 12.30pm and the first race due off at 1.48pm. It’s not too late to grab a discounted ticket to join us tomorrow so I do hope to see some of you again. Tickets are available at www.hamilton-park.co.uk and as always under 18s get FREE admission.
Have a great day and I hope you back a winner or two.
Kind regards,
ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

ONE MILE about 68 YARDS (8f abt 68yds) (1600m) 2.12pm
RACE DESCRIPTION
This race is a one mile and 68 yards restricted maiden stakes for two-year-olds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 58. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

THE BIG DREW MEMORIAL SELLING STAKES (CLASS 4)
RACE DESCRIPTION
Selling Stakes exist as an outlet for connections to sell their horses. Any horse that wins a seller, such as this one mile and three furlongs contest for three to five-year-olds, is automatically put up for public auction in the Winners’ Enclosure at the end of the race and goes to the highest bidder, so make sure to head that way after the race as the auction is usually well worth seeing.
RACE STATISTICS
Leading course trainer (19-24): I Jardine (39 wins from 304 runners, 13%) runs LOOM LARGE & MIDNIGHT LION

BETTING FORECAST: 11-4 Kingsley Pride (GB), 3-1 Bay Dream Believer (IRE), Dr Foster (GB), 13-2 Midnight Lion (GB), 16-1 Loom Large (IRE), Fanaigi Linn (IRE)
RACE SUMMARY: BAY DREAM BELIEVER comes here in top form and is fancied to quickly resume winning ways on the back of her excellent Beverley handicap third. Midnight Lion should strip fitter for his recent Musselburgh fourth so could emerge as the main danger to Mark Walford’s mare, with Dr Foster and Kingsley Pride also in the picture if bringing their respective A-games.

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a six furlongs race for fillies and mares aged three-years-old and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap In simple terms a horse rated 80 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 75.

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile, one furlong and 35 yards handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 49 to 68. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb
