HAYDOCK PARK RACECOURSE

A very warm welcome to all Annual Members on our last Saturday fixture of the flat season, after what has been a wonderful summer of racing at Haydock Park

Our last meeting was crammed with quality, and how great it was to see Montassib win the Betfair Sprint Cup, in a pulsating finish It was very good performance from William Haggas’s charge and we look forward to seeing him here next year

As the seasons are changing, I am delighted to tell you that you will have access to a formidable amalgamation of exclusive facilities this afternoon A private bar area, two exclusive panoramic boxes and your own seating is available to you.

Next Saturday sees Haydock Park’s reciprocal visit on a reciprocal to Ascot on a card high in quality. There are two Group 3 races, two listed races and a £180,000 Handicap to whet your appetite Admission would cost £41, but Haydock Members will have free access for this day. I do hope you can attend this unique opportunity.

Attention after today turns to the action over jumps, beginning with the Betfair Chase and ending with the Swinton Hurdle.

Haydock Park Annual Membership for 2025 goes on sale shortly This is an ideal Christmas present and, for any regular of Haydock Park, is a bargain Annual members gain access to all meetings in The County Enclosure, a dedicated room and two boxes together with a reciprocal list which is incredibly diverse in its range. This is open to both current members and non-members alike. As our members will testify, it’s a great deal and one which like-minded racegoers can mingle with each other

I do hope you all have an enjoyable and successful days racing.

Course-winner EARLS didn’t get the rub of the green at Galway but may well have been targeted at this contest by his excellent handler and remains feasibly treated. He can land the opener Skipper is low mileage and will be dangerous if handling the likely slow conditions, whilst Whiskey Pete and Rhoscolyn are also much respected.

CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD: Following its run on 15/5/2024 it was reported that the horse was slowly away

PARISIAC: Following its run on 20/9/2024 it was reported that the horse hung left-handed.

Probable S.P’s: 5-1 Nariko (IRE), 13-2 Harry’s Halo (IRE), 9-1 Wobwobwob (IRE), 10-1 Mister Sox (GB), 11-1 Knebworth (GB), 12-1 Cold Stare (IRE), Parisiac (IRE), 14-1 Flaccianello (IRE), Trilby (GB), 18-1 Mr Wagyu (IRE), 20-1 Woven (GB), 22-1 Chairmanoftheboard (IRE), Dapper Valley (IRE)

NARIKO came out on top in comfortable fashion in a C&D handicap in May and, with that form proving strong, a 7lb rise looks well within his compass. Harry’s Halo was probably value for a bit extra over the result at Windsor having idled once hitting the front, while Wobwobwob confirmed his return to form in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon last time and completes the shortlist.

Low-mileage 4-y-o WILTSHIRE took his form up another notch when successful at Newcastle in June and, with a 6lb rise looking far from prohibitive, he looks to hold sound claims of coming out on top again returned to turf. Silky Wilkie, following his excellent second in last week’s Ayr Gold Cup is a threat with conditions holding no fears. Jer Batt and Blue Storm complete the shortlist.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
