A very warm welcome to all Annual Members on our last Saturday fixture of the flat season, after what has been a wonderful summer of racing at Haydock Park

Our last meeting was crammed with quality, and how great it was to see Montassib win the Betfair Sprint Cup, in a pulsating ﬁnish It was very good performance from William Haggas’s charge and we look forward to seeing him here next year

As the seasons are changing, I am delighted to tell you that you will have access to a formidable amalgamation of exclusive facilities this afternoon A private bar area, two exclusive panoramic boxes and your own seating is available to you.

Next Saturday sees Haydock Park’s reciprocal visit on a reciprocal to Ascot on a card high in quality. There are two Group 3 races, two listed races and a £180,000 Handicap to whet your appetite Admission would cost £41, but Haydock Members will have free access for this day. I do hope you can attend this unique opportunity.

Attention after today turns to the action over jumps, beginning with the Betfair Chase and ending with the Swinton Hurdle.

ACCESSIBLE FACILITIES

Haydock Park has made substantial practical changes to our facilities to ensure we follow all mandatory disability requirements, which include the following:

Inclusion of induction loops installed in suites and bars

Braille being included on the majority of our signage

Improvements to disabled viewing areas

Suite doors being widened

Lowering of betting facilities to improve access

Viewing balconies improved for wheelchair access

The introduction of a disabled lift

Changes to existing lifts to allow wheelchair operation

Increasing disabled car parking access

Widening car parking spaces and installing appropriate signage

Additional centrally located disabled toilets

Modiﬁcation of existing toilets to allow ambulant disabled access (including widening cubicles, installation of grab rails, lengthening mirrors, adjusting ﬂush mechanisms, adjustments to door locking facilities and washbasin and handles)

Refuge areas constructed in case of ﬁre (including the installation of a 2-way communication system with the on-site control room to each point)

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualiﬁed paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
