EACH HORSE HAS BEEN GIVEN A STAR RATING, DEFINITION BELOW: Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. Selected to win the race. Can be given little or no chance. Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
BET TING WITH THE BOOKMAKERS DIFFERENT WAYS TO BET - WIN OR EACH-WAY
The two main types of bet are win and each-way. For win bets, your horse needs to win the race outright. An each-way bet is effectively two bets – one for your horse to win and one for it to be placed. So a £2 each-way bet will cost £4. A bookmaker taking each-way bets will display the terms on which they accept such bets on their board. In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting. • Fewer than 3 runners - Win bets only, no places offered • 3 or 4 runners – Win bets only . Where a bookmaker wishes to depart from this default position they may offer place terms at 1/5 odds a place 1-2. • 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2 • 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3 • Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3 • Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3-4 • Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
PL ACING YOUR BET
Shop around for the best odds. When you have decided where to place your bet, state the number of your horse and the stake, for example “Number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to their clerk and hand them your money. You will then be given an itemised receipt detailing your bet and potential winnings. You should keep this safe until you have heard ‘Weighedin’ announced after the race. If your bet is successful, hand your ticket to the bookmaker and they will give you your winnings.
We’ll pay whichever is better!
We’ll always pay at least SP on Win bets and if the Tote dividend is greater, we’ll pay out at that price. Tote.co.uk, Tote.ie, Tote App and selected UK racecourse customers only. Promotion applies to Tote Win and win part of each way bets on all UK & Irish races, staking limits apply. Full terms and conditions available at Tote.co.uk/promotions. 18+. BeGambleaware.org

PLAY SMARTER
CUDGEL finished adrift of Real Armani in C&D handicaps on each of his last 3 starts of last term, but he has a good chance of gaining the upper hand on these terms and his record when fresh is another factor which helps to tilt the scales in his favour. Real Armani looks a shade too high in the weights for now and bigger threats may be posed by Deep Charm and Flaming Glory.
