MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM

B = Horse was brought down
S = Horse slipped
r = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race
d = Disqualified
Bold form
figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name
9. Days since the horse last run
10. Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs)
12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam)
13. Horse’s owner
14. Horse’s breeder
15. Birthplace of horse (outside GB)
16. Draw – position of the horse in the starting stalls
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

As a leading distributor of horse feed, bedding and supplements in the greater GCC area, I am once again immensely proud to support the Jockey Club at Newmarket Racecourses for the 2024 season. Newmarket is credited as being where thoroughbred racing first started which is why so many from every corner of the world assemble and appreciate The Rowley Mile and The July Course.
As ever, the enthusiasm of Sophie Able and her team at Newmarket translates into a top class service for Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and Stable Staff and for that we are deeply grateful.
I would like to wish all those visiting Newmarket throughout the 2024 season, the very best of luck.
Have a wonderful day at the races today.

RUN OVER SIX FURLONGS 1207 METRES
Sir Gordon Richards is the most successful jockey of all time with nine victories – Tiffin (1928), Keystone (1940), Lady Sybil (1942), Neolight (1945), Pambidian (1948), Belle ofAll (1950), Zabara (1951), Bebe Grande (1952) and Sixpence (1953)
Among current jockeys, William Buick, Frankie Dettori, Ryan Moore and Oisin Murphy have all enjoyed two successes.
Special Duty
The most successful trainers are Alec TaylorJr, Criquette Head-Maarek and Aidan O’Brien with fourwinners apiece. Taylor scored with Maid of the Mist (1908), Maid of Corinth (1909), Bayuda (1918) and Miss Gadabout (1924) while Frenchbased Head-Maarek saddled Ma Biche (1982), Ravinella (1987), Pas de Reponse (1996), and Special Duty (2009) to success.
O’Brien landed a hat-trick ofwinners from 2016 to 2018 with Brave Anna, Clemmie and Fairyland. Tenebrism added a fourth success in 2021.
Robert Sangster is the most successful owner of all-time with fourwinners - Durtal (1976), Sookera (1977), Woodstream (1981) and Capricciosa (1990).
The winning-most current owners are Cheveley Park Stud and Coolmore syndicates with three wins each. The Cheveley Park-owned winners were Gay Gallanta (1994), Regal Rose (2000) and Hooray (2010) with Coolmore scoring with Clemmie (2017), Fairyland (2018) and Tenebrism (2021)
FASTEST WINNER MILLISLE (2019) – 1M 09.39S
The biggest shock was 40-1 chance Magical Romance’s triumph in 2004, while the shortestpriced winner ever is Pretty Polly, who was 8-100 in 1903.
Since 1980, favourites have prevailed in 13 of the 44 runnings – a 29 percent strike rate
The Cheveley Park Stakes was first run in 1899 and takes its name from the estate in Newmarket then owned by Colonel Harry McCalmont. Lutetia landed the inaugural running, partnered by Tod Sloan, an American who had a profound impact on British racing by changing the riding style of jockeys.
The great Pretty Polly, who won 22 of her 24 races including the Fillies’ Triple Crown, was successful in 1903 while the 1915 renewal went to Fifinella, the most recent filly to win the Derby (a wartime substitute at Newmarket).
Since 1945, 11 fillies have gone on to win the 1000 Guineas - Belle of All (1950), Zabara (1951), Night Off (1964), Fleet (1966), Humble Duty (1969), Waterloo (1971), Ma Biche (1982), Ravinella (1987), Sayyedati (1992), Natagora (2007) and Special Duty (2009).

PLAY SMARTER
The first oftwo Group 1s in Britain for 2-y-o fillies and this looks a mouth-watering clash between an unbeaten pair, the sponsor’s representative BABOUCHE selected to take her sequence to four at the expense ofBallydoyle’s LakeVictoria, who is a most exciting prospect but mayflourish over further in time. French-raiders Daylight and Rayevka can fight out third spot, the former narrowly preferred having gone close in the Prix Morny at Deauville last month.

Frankie Dettori is the most successful jockey currently riding, having recorded fourwins on Bahamian Bounty (1996), Lujain (1998), Dutch Art (2006) and Shalaa (2015)
Aidan O’Brien is the most successful trainerwith seven victories - Minardi (2000), Johannesburg (2001), Ad Valorem (2004), Crusade (2011), US Navy Flag (2017), Ten Sovereigns (2018) and Blackbeard (2022).
Coolmore partnerships (involving various combinations of Sue Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith) are the winning-most ownerwith eight winners - Minardi (2000), Johannesburg (2001), Ad Valorem (2004), Bushranger (2008), Crusade (2011), US Navy Flag (2017), Ten Sovereigns (2018) and Blackbeard (2022)
Creag-An-Sgor caused the greatest upset when scoring at 50-1 in 1983 while the shortest-priced winner is Abernant, who was 1-7 in 1948.
Since 1980, favourites have prevailed in 17 of the 44 runnings – a 38 percent strike rate.
The Middle Park Stakes dates back to 1866 and was established by William Blenkiron, who put up £1,000 in prize money and named the contest after his stud at Eltham (then part of Kent).
Subsequent Triple Crown winners Isinglass (1882) and Galtee More (1896) were prominent early winners, while in 1903 the outstanding Pretty Polly won both the Middle Park Stakes and Cheveley Park Stakes. Since 1987, the Middle Park Stakes has been restricted to colts.
Prominent winners during the 20th Century include Bahram (1934), winner of the Triple Crown in 1935, the brilliant sprinter Abernant (1948) and Brigadier Gerard (1970), who went on to win an outstanding renewal of the 2000 Guineas in 1971 and 17 of his 18 races in total. Rodrigo de Triano (1991) is the most recent winner to go on to Classic success, landing the 1992 running of the 2000 Guineas to give Lester Piggott his 30th and final Classic winner
Since the turn of the century, the contest’s best winners have gone on to excel at sprint distances with Oasis Dream (2002), Dream Ahead (2010), US Navy Flag (2017) and Ten Sovereigns (2018) all going on to victory in the Group One July Cup the following year
Staged over six furlongs, the contest currently takes place on the same day at Newmarket as the equivalent race for fillies – the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes. The two contests are the first two Group One races of the season for two-year-olds in Britain.

Aidan O’Brien looks to have a strong handle on this race again and the tough WHISTLEJACKETis a strong candidate to make all at the likely expense of stablemate Ides of March, who was most impressive in the Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh last time. Shadow of Light hasn’t finished improving, so he’s the clear pick of the British-trained contingent.
Two jockeys ofthe 19th Century are the most successful with fourwinners each.
Nat Flatman rode Vulcan (1841), Evenus (1844), Alarm (1845) and Scherz (1854) to success, while George Fordham was in the saddle on Little David (1853), Odd Trick (1857), See Saw (1868) and Sabinus (1871)
Frankie Dettori is just one winner behind, having scored aboard Halling (1994), Wissahickon (2018) and Lord North (2019).
John Gosden is the leading trainerwith five successes - Halling (1994), Pipedreamer (2007), Tazeez (2008), Wissahickon (2018) and Lord North (2019).
No horse has won the Cambridgeshire more than twice
The seven dual winners are:
Hackler’sPride–1903,1904
ChristmasDaisy–1909,1910
Sterope–1948,1949
PrincedeGalles–1969,1970
Baronet–1978,1980
Rambo’sHall–1989,1992
BronzeAngel-2012,2014
Baronet (1980) is the oldest winner of the postwar period, recording his second victory aged eight in 1980 Trained in Epson by John Benstead, Baronet was a real Cambridgeshire specialist having previouslywon in 1978 and finishing runner-up in 1977 and 1981.
Since 1980, 14 three year olds have been successful.
WEIGHT CARRIED BY WINNERS (SINCE 1980)
The highest weight carried to victory since 1980 is 9st 12lb (Astro King, 2023) At the other end of the scale Sagamore carried just 7st 8lb when successful in 1983.
IRELAND (3): Stephanotis (1957), Tarqogan (1965), She’s Our Mare (1999)
FRANCE (1): Lieux (1946)
First staged in 1839, the nine-furlong bet365 Cambridgeshire is one of the season’s most historic and competitive handicaps. It is open to three year olds and upwards.
It was not unusual for Classic winners to line up in the contest’s early years, with the 1892 winner La Fleche having landed the Fillies’ Triple Crown (1000 Guineas, Oaks and St Leger) earlier in the season.
Alongside the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Heritage Handicap (which follows this year on day two of the Dubai Future Champions Festival, Saturday 12th October) the Cambridgeshire forms part of the “Autumn Double” Despite the Cesarewitch taking place over twice the distance (2m 2f) of the Cambridgeshire, three horses have completed the “Autumn Double” – Rosebery (1876), Foxhall (1881) and Plaisanterie (1895)
In recent years Newmarket trainer John Gosden, who now trains in partnership with his son Thady, has made the race his own, saddling a record five winners - Halling (1994), Pipedreamer (2007), Tazeez (2008), Wissahickon (2018) and Lord North (2019). All of Gosden’s winners progressed to win in Group company, with Halling and Lord North both multiple Group One scorers.
The biggest shocks came courtesy of 100-1 chances Pullover (1932) and Spanish Don (2004). At the other end ofthe scale, Polymelus (1860) was successful at 11-10 and is the shortest-priced winner
Since 1980, favourites have prevailed in 9 of the 44 runnings – a 20 percent strike rate
FASTEST WINNER DALLAS (1986) – 1M 45.94S
NB: Dallas’ victory was achieved on the July Course, while the Rowley Mile was undergoing redevelopment. The fastest winner on the Rowley Mile is Majestic Dawn (2020), who scored in 1m 46.94s.

Going softer than good is an unknown for ROI DE FRANCE but his stable has had a couple of 3-y-os win this race with plenty to spare in recent years and he gets the vote with further improvement on the cards. Bopedro is 9lb lowerthanwhenthird inthis lastyearand itwould be no surpriseto see him make a bold bid again. PaddyThe Squire and This Songisforyou are other likely types, while Mythical Guest shaped well behind the selection at Yarmouth and could go well at longer odds.

MISSION TO MOON: Following its run on 7/9/2024 it was reported that the horse lost a shoe.
Probable S.P’s: 11-2 Granger Bay (IRE), 6-1 Telemark (IRE), 7-1 Darkness (FR), 15-2 Fifty Nifty (IRE), Noodle Mission (USA), 9-1 Yorkshire (IRE), 11-1 Mission To Moon (IRE), 18-1 Run Boy Run (GB), Spanish Blaze (IRE), 22-1 Spangled Mac (IRE), 25-1 Street Kid (IRE)
A hot handicap, though the value may lie with MISSION TO MOON, who has shaped as if up to winning a race of this nature several times this season and caught the eye from a poor position at Ascot last time. Yorkshire remains on an attractive mark and also shaped better than the result when runner-up at Haydock, with Darkness and unexposed 3-y-o Fifty Nifty also high on the shortlist.
