(Direct 58, 29) (Direct 39, 46)

There are 3 stations in Pontefract – Monkhill, Baghill and Tanshelf. Pontefract Tanshelf is more or less opposite the entrance to the Park, whereas Monkhill and Baghill stations are more centrally located in Pontefract and are around 2 to 3 miles from the course. If you don’t fancy the walk through the Town, taxis are available at the stations. There is a fourth station at Glasshoughton which adjoins the Xscape complex. This is a couple of miles from the Racecourse. If you have some time to kill, from near Glasshoughton Station (starting in the car park to B&Q!), there is a lovely walk through the Park to the Racecourse. It will take around 45 minutes.

W e l c Hello Ponte racegoers! We hope you enjoy your evening at the racecourse and get to see some of your local Rugby League stars take on the equine themed challenges throughout the night. Watch the players as they compete to stay on the mechanical horse, challenge themselves to a bit of commentating, discuss the best tips, the best turned out and interview the jockeys after their wins! This evening meeting will support the widely respected charities: MND and SIA. The winning team will be presented with the Rugby League Takeover Challenge Cup! Below is a map of the racecourse with the hotspots of the night.

AINTREE TO ASCOT CHALLENGE

Nine-year-old Freja Thackary is once again taking on an ultimate challenge in aid of Racing Welfare. Having so far raised over £9,000 with her previous two fundraisers, Freja will be covering the distance of Aintree to Ascot (194 miles) using the three triathlon disciplines; swimming, cycling and running. The challenge started during the Cheltenham Festival and will finish during Royal Ascot. Freja is taking the opportunity to get as many of her runs completed at racecourses and will be completing a leg at Pontefract Racecourse today! Find out more about Freja's challenge by following her on Twitter - @RunningForRW or scanning the QR Code

ABOUT RACING WELFARE Racing Welfare supports all of racing’s people - including stud, stable and racecourse staff, alongside those working in associated professions - from their recruitment through to retirement.
